Lower track pad functions will not work on my MBP...right / left click functions. All other areas work fine and wireless mouse works as substitution. This issue just start upon start up today. Track pad was working last night.

my Applecare finally expired in January '10. Just before it expired, I had the palmrest/keyboard/trackpad replaced (among other things) for the THIRD time due to the well-known cracking issue. Now that it's expired, I notice that yet again there's a chip missing out of the lower right corner of the palmrest. I know that the newer palmrest/keyboard/trackpad (with the iTunes controls on the F-keys) from the later Macbooks is backward-compatible with mine. Are they any more or less durable than the palmrest from the late 2006 models?

I may have that wrong, but does anyone know where i can get a new piece from? The crack isnt major or anything, just a little annoying. View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm on the Mac indicated on my signature and am running Snow Leopard. The 4 finger swipes up and down are so buggy in this release. When I swipe up, I get the desktop to show, I swipe down to have the current thing come back up, but right as I let go of my 4 fingers, it jumps back to showing the desktop. I can't get out of this cycle unless I click on the lower right hand corner or something. Video of what happens

There seemed to be moisture forming in the lower right hand corner of the iMac screen (about 6 inches wide and 2 inches tall at worst). i have read that this seems to be a common problem. Had the iMac for about a year and half and never saw this issue though. Based on forum research, the recommendation was to turn on the AC to reduce humidity. Moisture definitely disappeared after 30 minutes, however I'm concerned it will happen again. I suppose I will bring it into Apple concered (although i would rather avoid dealing with it). Has anyone else experienced this?

I just noticed this why my computer was booting up today because its only visible against a white background, but there is some grey textures in the lower right hand corner of my display that resemble the strands of a carpet, in that they are fine lines that do not go straight up, but curve. The other thing it kind of looks like is frost. Anyways, anyone know what this is and if I can do anything about it?

And my arrows, save for Mr. Right. My question is this: am I screwed? is there any chance I can restore function to these? I have a nice big bottle of isopropyl alcohol at my disposal and I can pretty much have my way with this thing. It's beyond warranty so, short of blowing it up, I'm not too worried about any minor damage I might do to it. anyway, if anyone can throw out some advice, whether it's "this is how you fix it," or "toss it through a window," I would be endlessly grateful.

I thought the keyboard was faulty and bought a new one but have the same problem with that so it's in the system somewhere. The uppercase R works.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought my Macbook Pro less than a year ago and the other night I was watching a TV show in itunes and I couldn't use the track pad. I was able to finally shut the Macbook down and the next morning I rebooted it. It was still acting weird and the trackpad was jumpy and would randomly start opening windows and menus as if someone was contriolling it remotely. I used my bluetooth mouse and it seemed to work ok until tonight when I was copying some files wirelessly (or trying to) and evey time I tried to select files the cursor would jump to another screen and open a menu and then select all and open all my file folders. I was able to get that to stop openin ght ewindows but I still can't use the track pad and the machine acts like it is possesed and has a mind of it's own. I have made sure file saring and screen sharing are off and the battery shows to be normal from doing the control+battery test.

My laptop has been having problems track pad doesn't always work, runs slow, freezes. I replaced the hard drive on advice and that didn't help. I went to disk utility and verify and repaired disk permissions, that didn't help. I went to the erase tab and I clicked on "erase free space" thinking that would "defragment" free space, like a PC has.Now all my available memory is gone.I thought I was freeing up space. I had to go to system preference to disable the "press Fn key to activate function" option then only it went back to normal where i din need to press the Fn key to activate expose etc... pls i wanna know y did the settings change by itself.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having intermittent web browsing problems with our mid-2009 MacBook Pro running Lion 10.7.2... our network has an AirPort Extreme with an AirPort Express being the booster router, and the problem seems to have been pretty much only limited to web browsing, that is, other activities like emails, VOIP phones (we use a program called Bria), Skype and iTunes sample streaming seem to have been pretty reliable... I've tried deleting my safari cache.db file as another thread in this forum suggested, and it's a bit too early to tell yet whether that has made a lasting difference, but if it doesn't, does anyone have any ideas about what else might be causing the problem? If it helps, an iPhone 4 on the same home network seems to have significantly better performance when using its web browser.

Do most of you MBP users use tap to click or actually use the click on the trackpad? I've noticed using the click is more accurate as far as responses, but isn't as efficient/fast as using tap to click. Can I get suggestions from you MBP users on what you guys use? I'm far in between the two so I want to know which one I probably should use so I basically "learn" to use it over time. Also, noticed when I activate tap to click and use dragging, when I start to drag a window, and find the place I want to leave it. I'll raise my finger like 1mm in the air and it still registers my finger there and will still move it. It wont unlock my finger from the drag lock unless I lift it more than 3mm off the trackpad.

Touchpad has lost functions: no select, no drag/drag copy. it can position the cursor with a hard click (not as responsive as before), select a word with double click, do a 3 finger window drag.It recognizes tapping functions only and the 3 finger drag. It does not seem to recognize when a finger stays on the pad- no finger zoom in or out, etc.
