My Macbook Pro that I bought in Sept 09 keeps rejecting the sims 3 disk. It doesn't do this with any other disk. I had once installed and played the sims 3 just fine on my laptop but I can't even get the cd to load anymore so can't install it.

Or can I just open the box, install the new harddrive and load up the install disk?
I tried installing Sims 3 on my MBP but for some reason it stops at 569 out of 600 files so I force quitted and tried again and got the same results and force quitted subsequently too. I did that about 4 times. Sims 3 would put about 6 GB on your HD and I found out afterwards I had about 24 GB missing after that attempted installs. How can I remove that 24 GB?
Running Snow Leopard btw.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to re-install the OS on a MacBook Pro that i'm selling so as to erase all my data from it, however the Install Disc will not start up to run the Installer. I load it, press install, it says it has to Restart, i click ok and it then begins to restart but then just stops at a white screen. The disc drive goes quiet as well. I've tried just starting and holding C down as well. Same result.
Just wondering if anyone knows a way around this? Or is it probably a dodgy disc? It seems to be fine until it tries to start up from the disc.
Before the drive stopped working on my macbook, i was able to install the sims 2 and all of the expansion packs!, they are all updated to UB. When i run the game it goes So Slow!, i mean slower than the sims 3, which runs pretty slow. I have a late 2007 macbook, with 2GB ram, Intel GMA X3100, 120GB HDD, core 2 duo 2.2Ghz. Do i meet the requirements?

My question is, to anyone who has this game, have you found the write settings where the game runs 100% smooth? I'll sacrifice graphics for smoothness. Wanted to know what the general consensus is for to game to get running really smooth. Didnt want to just bring all my sliders down to a minimum without knowing what I am doing. It seems as if when I play sims 3, the fan is on high rev, throughout the whole time.

I had my original Install Disk which I forgot was Tiger, Having used one of my brothers company licenses to upgrade to Leopard but that disk is now with him in another country. So now I can not restore from my Time Machine backup. I have a Leopard Install disk for a Macbook Pro 13" which I also own. Is it possible to use this disk to re-install Leopard on my 15"?

Ran routine disk utilities and Yasu. Now Safari wont load off dock, ap folder. Tried to trash and reload. Wont allow it.

If I read the help stuff right I need to use the OSX install disk to install the drivers. The problem is, I don't have the install disk. Is there any other way to get the drivers? G5 keeps hanging at install and also at disk utility. I've swapped both the osX install dvd disk and the entire dvd drive, but still hangs at os load or utility.

I tried putting the disc in and clicking the restart button on the screen that says "Welcome to Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger", but when I click it it just restarts my computer and does nothing. I then tried the alternate install it did the same thing it did nothing but restarted my eMac. I then tried restarting my computer while holding c key nothing once again. Then I tried holding down apple, option, f , and o keys and then typed in cd boot and also tried cdrom boot nether of them worked so i restarted and tried dvd boot/dvdrom boot nothing worked on all the occasion i got a grey screen with a circle with a line through it. View 9 Replies View RelatedI would like to delete a load of disk permissions. They are continually needing to be repaired and I don't recognize any of the names of the apps, and if I do, I would prefer to uninstall them.
Is this crazy? The main reason is that I am using drive genius 3 which continually monitors the health of the drive using 'drive pulse'. It comes up with 'critical' repairs needed each day and they are the same ones so I would prefer to just ditch them if possible?
Also, what I would really like to know is how I can use the command line to 'batch' delete these suckers.

My PowerMac thinks the optical drive is open. No matter what I do, I cannot get the disk inside to load and I cannot open the drive to get it out. I'v tried f12 several times and have eject in my menu bar.

Searched the archives but no luck so far. My old PB G4 is running 10.4.11. When I installed the OS, I chose not to install iPhoto and iMovie because I didn't think I'd need them on this machine. I'd now like to add them, but am not sure how to do it without wiping the hard drive and starting completely from the beginning. There's got to be an easier way...right?

Is it possible to buy the disk drive from somewhere else and install it my self??? Im just curious if its cheaper to do it myself or have apple do it
