MacBook Air :: Finding Configuration For Sims 3?
Nov 18, 2010I just have a brief question. I'm a light user and I want to purchase a new MBA 13' base config with 4 GB RAM. Would this be good enough to play sims 3 smoothly?

View 13 RepliesMy wife is a professional photographer. Her business is growing and so is the time she spents behind her computer (Imac) Photoshopping . She is complaining about the speed. So we are planning an upgrade to a Mac Pro combined with a Eizo screen.
I have some questions about the configuration. We are looking for something which generates speed. It has to be reasonable in price in three years we will buy another one, so upgradable is not that important.
The image size off the RAW photo's is 25MB. But in the coming three years will grow for example to 50MB when a new camera is bought. For a project dozens of these images have to be processed.
I've looked around but the search didn't provide me and answer so here I am asking this:
I own a MB and I generally have 3 different setup configurations:Mobile (MB screen)
Office (MB screen + 22" TFT)
Living Room (MB screen + TV)
So the thing is, is there a way I can make OSX know what configuration i'm using automatically? Let's say, based on the number and resolution of the screens?
I have a simultaneous dual-band AirPort Extreme base station running software version 7.5 and can't find the software install disk it came with. I reinstalled Snow Leopard onto my mini and it has AirPort Utility 5.4.2. When I try to connect to the AEBS, I get a pop-up stating that a newer version of AirPort Utility is needed, but I can't find anything newer than 5.4.2 on the Apple download site. Does anyone know if Apple has the AirPort Utility software that works with this hardware/software available somewhere?

Before the drive stopped working on my macbook, i was able to install the sims 2 and all of the expansion packs!, they are all updated to UB. When i run the game it goes So Slow!, i mean slower than the sims 3, which runs pretty slow. I have a late 2007 macbook, with 2GB ram, Intel GMA X3100, 120GB HDD, core 2 duo 2.2Ghz. Do i meet the requirements?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently just got a new MacBook Pro and I had my Sims 3 game from when it first came out. However, the game isn't being recognized by the computer. The case shows that the game is compatible with Windows and Mac. I heard if you install to Windows you can't install to Mac right?

I just got sims 3. Running on the 13 inch mbp fairly well. A little too much stuttering for me though. My question is, to anyone who has this game, have you found the write settings where the game runs 100% smooth? I'll sacrifice graphics for smoothness. Wanted to know what the general consensus is for to game to get running really smooth. Didnt want to just bring all my sliders down to a minimum without knowing what I am doing. It seems as if when I play sims 3, the fan is on high rev, throughout the whole time.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Macbook Pro that I bought in Sept 09 keeps rejecting the sims 3 disk. It doesn't do this with any other disk. I had once installed and played the sims 3 just fine on my laptop but I can't even get the cd to load anymore so can't install it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the new MBP. I'm running OS 10.5.6 2.53 ghz intro core 2 duo 4 gigs of ram. I have enough to run it. I had issues installing it. It told me I needed 1 mb to run it. so I drug the folder into the mac HD. When the base game works perfectly. I have all the expansion games. Which works on my IMac running the same thing & my old MBP. When I install the first expansion pack & launch it the error reads. The application the sims 2 quit unexpectedly & it says the same thing when I want to relaunch.

View 2 Replies View Related I tried installing Sims 3 on my MBP but for some reason it stops at 569 out of 600 files so I force quitted and tried again and got the same results and force quitted subsequently too. I did that about 4 times. Sims 3 would put about 6 GB on your HD and I found out afterwards I had about 24 GB missing after that attempted installs. How can I remove that 24 GB?
Running Snow Leopard btw.
OS: Mavericks 10.9.4Â
I have Sims Medieval on DVD disc. Yesterday, when I inserted it into my Mac, it said the disc was blank. I have played the game on my Mac before, though I do not think I have tried to play it since I upgraded to Mavericks in March this year. I last had Snow Leopard, and it worked fine.Â
I did put the disc into a Windows machine today and it recognised that it was a Sims game (dual OS disc) and showed me the files.Â
I have never run into this type of problem before, and I don't own any other software on disc that runs on only Mac or both Mac and Windows so I can see if it is just this program.Â
I have found one thread on a website where people have had the same problem, but no one has a solution and they're all moaning about EA not fixing it, when the game came out in 2011 and so I think the problem is with Mavericks, not EA.

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust thinking down the road, so please bear with me. Regarding adding a HD and possibly ram at a later date. I have a couple questions...1.) If adding or replacing in the first year, will that void your warranty??2.) How is the ram module configured on a MacBook pro?? If it cam with 4 GB then can I just add a 4 GB card or do you have to get a straight 8 GB card??3.) If upgrading to a bigger HD, can you just do a backup restore or do you have to totally reinstall from the scratch??

View 24 Replies View RelatedSo a little bit about my situation: I have a macbook pro and recently moved my iTunes library to an external drive since I was running out of space on my computer. Obviously I changed the library folder to the one on the external in preferences ect. The only problem is that I'm not carrying around the external with me all the time, in fact, recently I connected the hard drive to sync the month's worth of new music I got and even after changing the library folder to the external one, only about half the songs from my whole library would play.
It's really a pain to add new music to the hard drive too because it keeps prompting me to replace the files. Long story short, I'm obviously not going about this right. Is anyone in the same situation as me/do you know of a better way to keep track of a library on external? If I didn't explain clearly enough (which i probably didnt) dont hesitate to ask.
I'm purchasing a Macbook Pro and I will be using it primarily for video and photo editing. I will need strong hd write performance for video encoding. I would also like a very fast load time for my apps such as photoshop and final cut. I am considering SSD drive for fast load of my apps. I would put the OS and all apps on the SSD. I would get a second drive, the fast Momentus XT from Seagate, and install it where the DVD drive is currently located. I would use the second drive for all data such as photos and video. This would give me fast write speeds for encoding and transferring video and photos from the camera to the MBP.
