my internet was not working and I read that I should go on Library/systemconfiguration and erase the whole file. I did so, and I restarted my computer. However, now when I open system preferences, and I click on NETWORK it crashes.
What should I do if it doesnt open it keeps crashing I cant open network at all... the roulette just keeps turning and turning and turning...
when I open my Network in System Preferences, "Network settings have been changed by another application" pops up and every time I click Ok, it pops up again, not letting me be able to access any other option in the Network window. The wireless icon has disappeared from my top bar and the only way I have managed to get online is via my ethernet cable. I have had nothing but problems since I started using my O2 Wireless Broadband dongle and I've noticed that behind the "Network settings have been changed by another application" notification, I can seen the Dongle has appeared as a new network connection option... but was never there before today (have been using the dongle for two months now)
Every time I try to open an existing document or save a new one Microsoft word crashes. I am able to start a new document but if I try to save it all of the action/editing buttons fade/unhighlight (save, print, quit, copy paste, etc) and I am ubable to do anything. However, most of the buttons in view, history, bookmarks, tools, window & help still work. Then I have to force quit because the option to quit is no longer available.
I've searched everywhere for a solution and I've had it before on another Mac, but can't remember how I solved it. Hope someone recalls the solution for this issue. Please don't suggest updating to 10.5, I'm not investing in a copy just for this old PPC G4 1.2Ghz iBook with a dead Firewire port (another famous iBook flaw).
Problem - Every time I launch Network from the Go menu, it momentarily shows (just a flash) the window and immediately crashes and disappears. Repeated efforts to launch does nothing.
I've deleted the appropriate prefs from the Library and still failure.
I launched Mail as I ordinarily do. It opened up, but the header bar was grayed out. Finally I managed to open program via Message/Go To/ Inbox, but no messages appeared in any of my mailboxes (even though I had several still in there from today). Nothing is happening, I even can't quit teh mail program.
I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.8. I just added a wifi network with a hidden SSID to my saved, preferred networks list. Unlike networks with visible SSIDs, my Mac won't automatically reconnect to it. I hate having to re-enter the password each time.Â

I connected an external monitor to my MacBook Pro, but it doesn't open any programs. It Just sits there with a blank screen. How do I get it to open programs and act like a monitor?
I was working on a clients machine yesterday and he has OS X 10.6.4. For some odd reason the network shares just randomly disappear, also Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 (and Reader) crash whenever I attempted to open them.
when i try to get it to open it just says that System Preferences quit unexpectdedly and to reopen it but when i do the same sign pops up and repeats it over and over again
I have a MacBook Pro with OS X Version 10.7.4 I installed Google HangOut without problems but when I will start it, the loading bar stops at the middle and them shows a message that the page needs to be refreshed. I tried at Chrome, Safari and firefox... all have the same error.Â
So I bought my 13inch MacBook Pro Retina two weeks ago. 70% of the time when opening the lid the screen will not turn on but my keyboard backlight will. I then have to either close the lid and open again or press the power to put the system to sleep and wake again. It seems the system is working fine just not the screen.Â
I have tried the SMC and PRAM reset which seemed to work for half of the day, now the problem is back.
When I try opening google, yahoo, facebook and etc, it keeps coming back with "safari cannot open pages because the sever where this pages located is not responding.". But i can open it with Google Chrome that installed in the same macbook. Â
Also the it doesn't allow iphoto to login facebook but it works fine with flickr. Â

I have a house that is not ideal for wifi. In particular, my office is an extension off the kitchen which has a solid brick wall between it and the rest of the house. Through 2 airport extremes, i get great wireless N signal everywhere in the house except this office. So, i added a 'N' airport express at the base of the stairs to this office and 'extended' the network.
So, i have 2 macbook pros up here. One is running on batteries, sitting on my desk, lid open. It is showing a rate of 108, signal -66 and noise -88 in the advanced wireless clients section of the airport express which it is getting it's signal from.
The next is closed and connected to a LED 24" cinema display. It is right next to the other MBP. It is showing a rate of 41, signal -80 and noise -93.
Why such a huge difference? Would it be because the lid is closed, it is connected to the display or a faulty macbook?
I am running OS 10.7.3 on a 17 in MacBook Pro. I cannot open the address book as it crashes every time I try. However it supplies the email address properly to mail.
Since updating iTunes and installing the latest iphone software iTunes crashes when I attempt to open my iphone in the device panel. I therefore cannot perform any manual functions on my phone through iTunes. I'm running 10.7.3 and iTunes 10.6.Â
I can access my music, books, and apps libraries just fine. When I click on Movies or TV Shows libraries, iTunes quits unexpectedly. This has been happening for a few weeks, but I don't remember when I last updated iTunes. Currently, 10.6 is installed. I am assuming that this problem originated with my update to iTunes 10.6.
iTunes 10.6.1 crashes on my iMac (10.7.3, 4 GB) whenever I try to open, play or interact in any way with Audible books. This is new in the last 2-3 weeks. Â
I have tried (Command) O, drag n drop, double click on file and "add to library". Every time it crashes. I have sent reports to Apple. I can add the files to iTunes Library, but they never open in iTunes without crashing it.Â
Everything in my Audible account looks appropriate so I don't think it's that end?Â
Anyone with similar issues? Or, better, a solution? I am going to try backing up and re-downloading the app, I think.Â
