View 5 Replies View RelatedI just booted into Windows and saw that there were some Windows Updates available and it asked me to reboot the computer however it failed to boot into Windows. So I restarted and tried to boot into OS X instead, but that didn't work either.
So I put in the OS X install DVD and checked out Disk Utility. Turned out that all my partitions where screwed up. There were 3 partitions listed as Windows_ldm, with incorrect sizes (I had 4 partitions before).
Long story short: I'm now reinstalling OS X and I lost everything I had on the drive, I think. I'll try some restore software once I've gotten OS X installed.
A little pissed right now... How the heck can Windows F up the entire drive?
the back and forward button has disappeared from the screen on my macbook air. how do i restore the button?

I'm in classes that require audio! I've check sound settings in system preferences, checked the audio buttons, everything.

I have a MacBook Air and one day I lost the sound all together. I had tried to bring it back from the keyboard but it seems to be locked and cannot unlock it. Then I went to check on the sound in the system preferences and it is not showing anything either.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWoke up this morning late, so I didn't check the weather online like I usually do. Unplugged everything from my MBP (including an external display) while it was still asleep, tossed it in my back after it slept again, and headed out the door. When I got to class, all of my desktop items are gone. Macintosh HD, mounted dmg's, some files, and some other things are all gone off my desktop. They obviously still exist and I can open them from Finder

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm considering this mouse but I'd like to know if you can program the button to perform an action such as "Go Back".
Currently, when I click the rollerball on my Mighty Mouse, it goes back one screen with the help of the USB Overdrive software.
I'd like to know if the slimblade can do that too.
I cannot drag the back/forward button to toolbar?

I am trying to back my iPhone up on my mac, but the "backup now" button isn't highlighted. I cannot even select it or "restore backup". I have gone to my library and into the mobile sync/backup, but when I open the backup folder its empty. I have even gone to the preferences setting under itunes and selected devices and that is also empty. No backups are listed there.

While trying to back up emails I seem to have lost them. Following the HELP page in Mail (Mac OS X program) I moved the MAIL folder from LIBRARY to the desktop. I failed to press OPTION while I was doing this, as the HELP page advised. So now, in Mail the identifiers of the messages are there, but the messages aren't and an error message appears saying that the emails have not been downloaded from the server, that I need to be online, etc. I am on line, have done "get mail", all of the obvious things.
I've tried to locate the original MAIL folder with Spotlight.
The server is at [URL]
I use a lap top that is usually connected to a high-resolution external monitor. When I disconnect, usually things behave, but occasionally the windows of certain programs will end up way out off the screen.Today I have a Thunderbird window that is far away (Mozilla apps are common victims/causes of this problem). Normally I would just quit and restart, but I don't trust it to save the draft of this important email. Here are the facts: The window is way off to the left. There is no one-pixel still on my main monitor. If I use F11 to see all Thunderbird windows, they swish in from the left, but if I select one they swish out again. Ditto if I minimize and maximize again.

I swear I am not crazy but at random times when surfing I will be taken back to the previous page even though my hand wasn't even on the mouse.
Is there any way to program a regular USB non-magic mouse to do the following:
1. Use the side button to go back to the previous screen.
2. Use the scroll wheel and a keyboard key to zoom the text of a page-- like the Command+ combination, not zoom like Control+scroll.
This morning I realized that I have no sound. Was away all weekend and know that I had to reboot my systems to get to the internet. How do I get my sound back?

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I hit customize toolbar to get rid of a button on my Safari toolbar. The window didn't pop up like it was supposed to, so I tried clicking around, and clicked the address bar and it disappeared.
Now even after a restart, I can't get the customize toolbar dialog to come up, therefore I can't get my address bar back.
This is on 10.5.2 by the way.
i found out that I have lost the recovery discs that go along with my new i7 iMac...(just a week old...)
Anyway I could get it back from APPLE?
Before the most recent update, hitting the green button on iTunes would make it tiny in the corner, now you have to hit apple-shift-M. I find this annoying, is there any way to go back to just hitting the green button?
View 1 Replies View RelatedRelatively new to Mac. In Mac Mail, I accidentally dragged some of the default mailboxes (Drafts) out of the Mailboxes Pane on the left up to the top bar and they disappeared without so much as a warning message to let me know! I can't seem to find a way to get them back or the mail that was in them.
