So I searched the forums and couldn't find a thread on this. My finder is no longer displaying my free space correctly. Whenever I remove files, it is stuck at 5.85 GB, even after dumping several gigs of files. I have an Early 2008 MacBook running Snow Leopard and my disk has been repaired and verrfied.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy external hard drive has been repeatedly ejected improperly and now it is not displaying on my computer, not even in disk utility. How do I re-mount this external hard drive? In the past when this has happened, all I had to do was go to Disk Utility or use DiskWarrior to fix the issue but now it won't even show up in either of these apps. Â

I recently embarked on a quest to reorganize my font libraries and I think I messed something up! Capital A's with boxes around them show up in many of my emails (using Mail) instead of text, and the emails from my iPhone Notes don't load at all. I don't understand this because the MarkerFelt.ttc font is in the HardDrive-->Library-->Fonts folder.
Basically, I had organized my fonts within the HD-->Library-->Fonts and the Username-->Library-->Fonts folders with Font Agent Pro and moved them to a separate location so that I could manage them more directly. Everything was fine at first and then things started looking wacky in Mail. I moved everything back to its original font folders and it's still displaying incorrectly. I've attached screen shots of what I'm talking about so it makes more sense. I would really appreciate any advice on how to get things back to normal.
I'm new to Mac (as of Oct. 3rd), but I'm a long-time user of Firefox. I notice that when I have FF running for long periods of time, and I go to, for example, xbox.com to check out my friends list on the computer, often times the page shows up as plain text, no graphics or images or anything. Then I come here to create a post, and all of the buttons and formatting tools appear as plain text as well, instead of the images/buttons. I don't regularly visit a wide variety of web-sites, but the one I mentioned earlier seems to consistently trigger it. Usually the only way I can get pages to display correctly again (no matter where I try to go) is to completely quit Firefox and reopen it. I included a screen shot so you can see what it's coming up as, vs what it's supposed to look like. I've never had this problem with any websites as long as I've been using Firefox until just recently. [URL]
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having a bit of a problem with terminal.
When I open the app or open a new window all that is displayed is a bit of the top menu bar - just enough to diplay the red close button. I can't see any of the other buttons and nor can I resize it to actually see th text in the terminal window.
This behaviour seems to be resticted to just one account - I logged in to another account to check.
I've tried repairing permissions and removed com.apple.Terminal.plist from the library/preferences folder I my home directory.
So I have a number of files and folders with korean names. The names show up perfectly on Finder but it's not showing up properly when viewing the same files on other OSes (i.e, Windows or Android).E.g. A folder named ¹„" would look fine on my Macs but show up as on Windows and my Android phone. Plucking the string into Google Translate also results in the incorrect format. It's incredibly frustrating when transferring files. This happens irrespective of which Korean input I use.

I have this problem where I get an email that has wonderful pictures (html, css, or somthing) on my iphone and ipad they display correctly. On Mail in OSX on my iMac they are just a bunch of text and hyperlinks. A good example of this is the promotional emails from Nik Software.

I got the breakup from a pantone process guide booklet, but the color onscreen looks nothing like the printed swatch (see attached screenshot).
Has anyone else had this problem? Is it a known problem with an iMac bought early 2008?
My safari browser on my iMac hasn't been displaying pages right since yesterday and I cannot figure out whats going on.
I've reseted Safari (cleared cookies, cache) and also tried turning my internet on and off and restarted my mac several times. I've even tried repairing permissions in disk utility.
Firefox and Chrome seem to be working perfectly but Safari will not format the pages the right way, all i mainly get is text unless a picture is linked to another page.
I have the latest version of Safari and am running Snow Leopard 10.6.6

Items in my calendar have the correct information (in info) and show up correctly when looking at the Today calendar view. However, when looking at the monthly view, an item dated July 20, 2014 looks as though it is set to occur on July 30, 2014 (see below).  Â
Enlarging the monthly calendar view does not work. Is there anything that will?Â

Has anyone made their Application folder a stack? When I have a newly installed program, the icon does not display correctly in the stack. It shows a crossed out application icon. In finder the icon displays correctly.

(6534.57.2), Facebook is not displaying correctly, I get a white unformated screen and a partial display of the information shows on the left side of screen (10%). I'm using OSX Ver. 10.6.8.. Facebook works OK on my iPhone and others PCs.

Most of the time, I can't get past the gray startup screen, but if I'm able to type in a password, it just timeouts and eventually turns off.I thought about re-installing OSX, only to find that the Superdrive I never use has somehow sunk into the case. I try to put a CD in, but unless I angle it, it hits some sort of barrier. If I angle a CD into it, I can push firmly to get the CD in, but it sounds like it would do damage.

We've got roaming accounts for our macs, but we get issues sometimes when students log in that the icon for the hard disk doesnt appeard on the desktop or in the finder. Weirdly related to this is when this happens neither firefox or safari can load any webpages. However, if students log out and log back in again the internet works fine. Im assuming when the hard disk isnt available, then firefox and safari cant access its preferences and necessary files properly, but what would be causing the hard drives not to mount/be visibile?
View 2 Replies View RelatedGot a new MBP last month to replace my white MacBook - loving it as an upgrade but one gripe - if I'm sat using it on my knee I regularly hear the "click" type noise of what I imagine is the protection of the hard drive because it thinks it is being dropped.
I never heard this on my old Mac and while it's not a huge issue it is a bit disconcerting, as though I'm being told off for moving it in a fairly responsible way.
Anyone else having this issue or know how to solve it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an aluminum unibody macbook from October 2008. I'm looking to upgrade the 160 GB hard drive inside to a 500 GB one I'm considering from Newegg. Would it be possible to migrate/copy/clone the entire contents of my current hard drive to the 500 GB one? I also have a section of my current hard drive partitioned for Bootcamp. Would this affect my ability to transfer everything over?
If this is possible at all, how can I go about doing so? If there are steps laid out somewhere, I'd appreciate a referral. Sorry if my question is a little elementary, but I did a search on these forums and also google and nothing really came up
What I did was I inserted the OSX disc, rebooted and waited for the mac osx setup to start from the disc. After selecting english as my main language I launced disk utility from the task bar.I choose to "'Erase" The entire drive which took a few seconds and I ended up with a supposedly blank 160GB drive called "Untitled" My question is was this done correctly? I reinstalled OSX on this "Untitled" drive and after a reboot the introduction movie started rolling.

Recently I bought 2 identical WD Scorpio Blue 1TB hard drives for my macbook pro 13 inch 2010. My aim is to replace the internal hard drive with one of the two I just purchased and use it as my system drive with Lion, Windows and Data partitions. And for the other hard drive I want to use it as a full disk back up for the internal drive (now 1TB hard drive). After I was done with setting up both windows and mac and data transfer, when I booedt into the recovery partition from the internal drive to clone the drive to the external drive, the disk utility gave me this error (Could not validate source - error 254). I also tried using Carbon Copy Cloner but it only could clone partitions, not the entire drive. Yesterday I downloaded a copy of Clonezilla. It worked fine until it had to clone an exFAT partition (my data partition). The exFAT partition appeared as 'RAW' partition in clonezilla. As a result, the whole partition appeared to be full and clonezilla had to copy every single blocks of data in that partition and the estimated time remaining was about 30 hours. So clonezilla is out too. Just want to ask if there is any program/application (bootable or not) which allows can do a full disk clone to an external hard drive.

Notes. Failed HDD ASD Test.  A new hard drive was installed in September of 2011 after the previous hard drive failed. Having worked well until now the system seems to give the same problems as it had previously. I am wondering if this is a compatibility issue as others have pointed out. Â
I have been told by the technician my only option is to replace the entire hard drive again for the second time with a new one. However to my understanding a ASD test is very specific and this my not be necessary? Further I am attempting a final backup just in case. I don't have to take it in where I could just back it up myself without the system shutting down.

I have a flash drive that I purchased yesterday. The first time I stuck it in it was read like expected. I ejected it correctly, everything was fine. Now when I put it in, it doesn't show up on the desktop or in the finder. However when I unplug it I get the message saying it was not removed correctly.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a late 2009 15 inch mbp. I upgraded the hard drive to a 640g and has been fine for a while. I previously was not getting the correct drive size in bootcamp, was only seeing 595g instead of 640g total partition size. when i look at finder it shows 639 gigs, so correct filesize. When i look at disk utility through utilites and also when i boot from the install disk, they both say 639gigs as well. When I look in grandperspective it also shows only 454gigs used, while spotlight is showing 486gigs used. When i add up all the items on my hard drive
