OS X :: Icons Now Displaying In Low Resolution?
Feb 4, 2010So I'll admit it, I'm a freak when it come to changing icons on my new mac, I want everything to look "pretty".. pretty organizedso then yesterday I tried downloaded a new icon pack and the first one was unpacked normally and the rest looked like they were made in microsoft paint program by a 5 year old...so I re-downloaded to no avail, so I tried applying one of my old icons to a folder that had worked before but it also showed up in bad quality...so I tested with lots of different ones and they all look bad, also now my shared applications folder in the dock from paralells pops up in bad . Im not doing anything different from before, anyone know whats going on?? (Pic attached below)

I'll select, then paste the .icns onto it, but it just shows up like this:

OS X Yosemite :: Sidebar Icons Displaying Incorrectly
Nov 30, 2014I recently used LiteIcon to change how my folder icons look (because the oversaturated blue folders in Yosemite are ugly, in my opinion) and in the process, it messed up my sidebar icons.I did this one time before I updated LiteIcon and it did the exact same thing but I thought they would've fixed this since the update.

Oct 28, 2007Has anyone made their Application folder a stack? When I have a newly installed program, the icon does not display correctly in the stack. It shows a crossed out application icon. In finder the icon displays correctly.

May 1, 2012My Safari windows look grey and bleak, just like the weather. I've double checked my security preferences and allowed third party plug-in access etc, is it that extensions just don't install as coloured icons in Safari? My friend's web browser allows colour and it makes icons easier to find in the Toolbar.

OS X :: ICal Dock Icon Displaying Wrong Date
Jun 19, 2009Today is the 19th and my ical dock icon is displaying the 18th. My dates and times are correct in my preferences and display properly every where else. When I launch ical it is also on the proper date and the dock icon will display the proper date as long as ical is open. When I close ical the dock icon displays the wrong date again.

Jun 11, 2012When I access the appications by HD>Users>(my user name)>applications, finder wont display any applications what so ever (in any vew or arrangement selection). However, when I went into preferences and added the applications option to my side bar in finder, it pulled them all up just fine.applications are still able to be accessed by using launch pad as well as from a folder from the dock, the only way they are blank, is by accessing them through the sequence above.

Mar 2, 2012I think I may have this Java Trojan virus that many have been talking about, in which the most common attribute of it is that it makes my Finder display folder names as N80, N81, etc.... in replacement of titles such as 'Open Finder' and 'Empty Trash'?I have tried a few things, such as Repair Disk Permissions, restarting, and logging off, but to no success.Â

Jun 22, 2012I have dropbox and configured it to show the icon on the tray over the left of my day/time. When I click onto the folder via Finder, I see the folder icon. The "Info" for this folder should allow me to read/write to the folder. However, when I ask to see the contents, I do not get a listing of the files within the folder. I am very frustrated since I have been struggling to resolve this configuration issue out on my own. It is most likely 'user issue' which led me here. However, I am at my ropes end.

Feb 27, 2012i am wondering if there is a way to organize my dock icons in a better way and am familiar with the obligatory use of "stacks" for my Applications and Downloads etc. is there one way or various ways to handle this if I want to group icons in my dock? i found a url that describes how to do this by dragging apps from the applications folder but since i have already spent so much time doing this in the dock itself it it going to be a major pain to have to pick these out from around the ones that i am not keeping in my dock.

Jun 2, 2006I'm using CandyBar to change the icons, and the Dashboard icon is changed under both System and Applications. In Finder it looks like the one I want to change it to, but when I move it into the Dock it just looks like the default icon. The same thing happens with the Finder icon. Any ideas? Oh and to change the iCal icon, is there any way to change the way the icon looks when you have iCal running? It just looks weird to have it look one way when it's closed and change back to the default when it's open.

Apr 2, 2012I was having problems before the battery sign desided to display an 'X'earlier in the day the system was not regestering the trackpad's 'click'I spoke to an apple support guy and it was sorted in about a half after a few tries of some restarting and command holding about a couple of hours later the same 'click' problem thought it'd bloody come back! and so i tried to repeat the restarting and command holding to see if i could get my book going by myself...but then the moment i restarted the book the fan sound (a sound i had never heard my macbook make before) was there, loud, and i knew somthing was not right. Â

OS X :: Changing Default File Icons - Dock Not Recognize Finder Image
Jul 25, 2009On my Macbook, running Leopard, I recently changed all my icons. (applications, folders, default files, etc.) I changed the Finder and Trash icons via System/Library/CoreServices. But the Dock won't recognize that the Finder icon has changed-- it's still showing me the old icon. That's Problem 1.
Then I created a new user account, and discovered that on that account the Dock shows the correct Finder image. But Problem 2: the new account doesn't recognize my default file icons. It flashes them for a second when I save the file, and then reverts back to the regular white default image. (Even though all the .icns files are correct in the application's Resources folder.) I really don't want to download Candybar or anything, since I know it can be done without that.

Mar 11, 2012Quicktime Player 10 on OS 10.6 is absolutely useless as it doesn't support 16:9 aspect ratio and no matter what you do the aspect ratio in Quicktime 10 cannot be display in this ratio and no way to alter the ratio. Fortunately I have Quicktime 7 Pro which does give the ability to alter Video to 16:9.

Sep 24, 2005I am running Tiger and I don�t know if I am being thick but my images thumbnail in Finder just show a white square with the file type, Tiff, Jpeg, Raw unless I have saved them in Photoshop, then they are actual thumbnails of my images. Is it possible for them all to show as proper thumbnails as soon as I import them from my CF cards?

Mar 22, 2009I've noticed that whenever I'm on Facebook or some other similar site that some characters will not display.
I was just reading people's statuses, and noticed that a heart wasn't being displayed... It is merely a "|". I opened up Safari, and everything was shown like it was supposed to be. It is not only with hearts, but other characters like that.

Apr 6, 2010I recently embarked on a quest to reorganize my font libraries and I think I messed something up! Capital A's with boxes around them show up in many of my emails (using Mail) instead of text, and the emails from my iPhone Notes don't load at all. I don't understand this because the MarkerFelt.ttc font is in the HardDrive-->Library-->Fonts folder.
Basically, I had organized my fonts within the HD-->Library-->Fonts and the Username-->Library-->Fonts folders with Font Agent Pro and moved them to a separate location so that I could manage them more directly. Everything was fine at first and then things started looking wacky in Mail. I moved everything back to its original font folders and it's still displaying incorrectly. I've attached screen shots of what I'm talking about so it makes more sense. I would really appreciate any advice on how to get things back to normal.
Software :: WD 98 For Mac Not Displaying Fractions?
Aug 15, 2010My wife's iMac G3 is running OS 9.2.2 with Word 98 for Macs. She receives Word documents with the fractions 1/2, 1/4, etc, but they do no show in the document. Only blank spaces. She must forward the document to me (PC with Windows XP and Word Viewer) to print the document. Is there a symbol set missing or what is a solution?

Mar 22, 2012Tried 1 (newer model) at the office that worked fine but my older one at home doesn't display. I still get the blue flash screen though. Also tried a new Fujitsu monitor that didn't display either (claims no input signal). Does the xternal monitor through TB/MD port to VGA adapter only work on some models or if it works on one should it work on all? What can I try?

Software :: Preview Displaying Blurry Txt In PDF?
Jul 12, 2010I am having issues opening PDF in preview. Sometimes the txt comes through blurry making it unreadable. When I open the PDF file in Adobe Reader its views perfectly, so its just in preview this is happening. Now for myself it is not an issue as I just set my default PDF viewer to Adobe Reader but we have clients that use MACs and we may loose some business if the presentation is up to scratch.
Is there a way that I can make the PDF view properly in Preview. I have the original presentation so if I need to convert it differently then I can.
