MacBook :: Hard Drive Not Displaying Freespace Correctly
Mar 3, 2012So I searched the forums and couldn't find a thread on this. My finder is no longer displaying my free space correctly. Whenever I remove files, it is stuck at 5.85 GB, even after dumping several gigs of files. I have an Early 2008 MacBook running Snow Leopard and my disk has been repaired and verrfied.

Jul 26, 2010I have a late 2009 15 inch mbp. I upgraded the hard drive to a 640g and has been fine for a while. I previously was not getting the correct drive size in bootcamp, was only seeing 595g instead of 640g total partition size. when i look at finder it shows 639 gigs, so correct filesize. When i look at disk utility through utilites and also when i boot from the install disk, they both say 639gigs as well. When I look in grandperspective it also shows only 454gigs used, while spotlight is showing 486gigs used. When i add up all the items on my hard drive

Apr 6, 2010I recently embarked on a quest to reorganize my font libraries and I think I messed something up! Capital A's with boxes around them show up in many of my emails (using Mail) instead of text, and the emails from my iPhone Notes don't load at all. I don't understand this because the MarkerFelt.ttc font is in the HardDrive-->Library-->Fonts folder.
Basically, I had organized my fonts within the HD-->Library-->Fonts and the Username-->Library-->Fonts folders with Font Agent Pro and moved them to a separate location so that I could manage them more directly. Everything was fine at first and then things started looking wacky in Mail. I moved everything back to its original font folders and it's still displaying incorrectly. I've attached screen shots of what I'm talking about so it makes more sense. I would really appreciate any advice on how to get things back to normal.
OS X :: Firefox Not Displaying Pages Correctly
Oct 23, 2007I'm new to Mac (as of Oct. 3rd), but I'm a long-time user of Firefox. I notice that when I have FF running for long periods of time, and I go to, for example, xbox.com to check out my friends list on the computer, often times the page shows up as plain text, no graphics or images or anything. Then I come here to create a post, and all of the buttons and formatting tools appear as plain text as well, instead of the images/buttons. I don't regularly visit a wide variety of web-sites, but the one I mentioned earlier seems to consistently trigger it. Usually the only way I can get pages to display correctly again (no matter where I try to go) is to completely quit Firefox and reopen it. I included a screen shot so you can see what it's coming up as, vs what it's supposed to look like. I've never had this problem with any websites as long as I've been using Firefox until just recently. [URL]

Mar 7, 2009I'm having a bit of a problem with terminal.
When I open the app or open a new window all that is displayed is a bit of the top menu bar - just enough to diplay the red close button. I can't see any of the other buttons and nor can I resize it to actually see th text in the terminal window.
This behaviour seems to be resticted to just one account - I logged in to another account to check.
I've tried repairing permissions and removed com.apple.Terminal.plist from the library/preferences folder I my home directory.

Apr 26, 2012So I have a number of files and folders with korean names. The names show up perfectly on Finder but it's not showing up properly when viewing the same files on other OSes (i.e, Windows or Android).E.g. A folder named ¹„" would look fine on my Macs but show up as on Windows and my Android phone. Plucking the string into Google Translate also results in the incorrect format. It's incredibly frustrating when transferring files. This happens irrespective of which Korean input I use.

Intel Mac :: Some Emails Not Displaying Correctly
May 3, 2012I have this problem where I get an email that has wonderful pictures (html, css, or somthing) on my iphone and ipad they display correctly. On Mail in OSX on my iMac they are just a bunch of text and hyperlinks. A good example of this is the promotional emails from Nik Software.

IMac :: Pantone Colors Not Displaying Correctly
Nov 7, 2010I put in some CMYK values to create a navy color in Illustrator:
C: 100
M: 70
Y: 0
K: 40
I got the breakup from a pantone process guide booklet, but the color onscreen looks nothing like the printed swatch (see attached screenshot).
Has anyone else had this problem? Is it a known problem with an iMac bought early 2008?
Applications :: Safari Not Displaying Pages Correctly?
Jan 9, 2011My safari browser on my iMac hasn't been displaying pages right since yesterday and I cannot figure out whats going on.
I've reseted Safari (cleared cookies, cache) and also tried turning my internet on and off and restarted my mac several times. I've even tried repairing permissions in disk utility.
Firefox and Chrome seem to be working perfectly but Safari will not format the pages the right way, all i mainly get is text unless a picture is linked to another page.
I have the latest version of Safari and am running Snow Leopard 10.6.6

Items in my calendar have the correct information (in info) and show up correctly when looking at the Today calendar view. However, when looking at the monthly view, an item dated July 20, 2014 looks as though it is set to occur on July 30, 2014 (see below).  Â
Enlarging the monthly calendar view does not work. Is there anything that will?Â

Power Mac G5 :: Upgrading Hard Drive To Larger Size?
Dec 15, 2007I have a power mac G5 2.7 that is 2.5 years old. It came configured with two 400GB drives inside as it will only hold two. I now really want to change them out to either two 750 GB or preferably two 1TB drives. Apple, however, has told me it won't work and that my unit will not handle this huge additional power consumption. I have called mac mall and they say no way as well. OWC says they have many working like that and its never been a problem. Then I called Apple again and they said it will work fine. I have 6 more months of Apple care, but either way do not want to blow the interior of this system up. I know I need SATA drives and would ideally like to purchase the Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.

Feb 12, 2009What deteremines the max hard drive for the early 08 macbook pro's? Is it the physical height? or is there a gb limit? I saw this 500gb barracuda drive at bestbuy for $80 running at 7200 rpm and 16mb cache buffer. so it sounds good. But is there anything coming out soon with higher rpm's or higher capacities for laptops? i know theres ssd but thats expensive and low capacity compared to sata for now.

May 21, 2012I am having issues with my iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 (Random freezing up). I took it to the local Apple Store and an associate suggested I back up my hard drive before bring it in for diagnosis. He suggested a 2 TB external drive but others have told me that is way too large. I have heard everything from nothing larger than a 500 GB drive and even one self proclaimed computer wizzard says I can get by with a 10 GB thumb drive. What is the right size and if it is a 1 or 2 TB drive, why do I need such a large one.

Nov 18, 2010First off, I am very O.C.D when it comes to my electronics and I constantly worry about my stuff. Over the past month, I have been checking SMART status and benchmarking my hard drive at least once a day. I'm a little worried that my hard drive is dying... Yea, I'm crazy...Regardless of the above, I would like some answers to a few questions..First, how durable are the unibody lower case screws? Do they strip easily? If I purchase the correct size screw driver (phillips #00), what are my risks of damaging the screws, or possibly wearing them out prematurely?Second, how difficult is it to realign the lower case and not cause a "wobble." I have read some people incorrectly screwing in the bottom case and basically bending the lower case, causing the machine to wobble on a flat surface.After reading my manual, Apple clearly indicates that users are permitted to service the hard drive. I'm technologically savvy but my only worries are damaging my $2500 machine...

Does anyone know if the Seagate Momentus laptop drive will fit in the newest macbook air? I saw on anandtech you could replace it on the previous model but I thought I'd double check as she needs much more space than 120GB that apple offers.
