i have a 7 port powered usb hub. the d-link h7 i have a bunch of stuff plugged into it, but theres no way of knowing if its running at usb 1 or 2 speeds. so i just trust it. but when i connect my ipod shuffle to it, itunes pops up saying it's connected through a usb 1 speed. which sucks.

For some unknown reason i cant seem to connect to wirelessly to my adsl2 modem. I have tried 2 different modems same result - i can see them but when i connect it immediately says "conection failed" - i can connect successfully via ethernet but not wirelessly. For almost the last year I have been using an Airport Extreme on 2.4b/g and and Airport express in my room to extend my wireless network. I also have a usb hdd configured to back up my macbook using time machine. Well I have a new roommate moving in and he has his own extreme and two expresses.
I have some questions on what would be the best way to consolidate our networking devices. I considered us selling our extremes and getting the new time capsule so both of our macs can use 5ghz while my girlfriends dell uses the 2.4.
Is there a noticeable speed difference between time capsule backup vs hard drive to extreme connected via usb?
I need help in figuring out why my Mac won't hold the network connection. Every time I sit down at my computer I have to re-connect to the home network. so i have a 802.11n airport extreme, but it just seems really slow... i was streaming a movie from a hard drive i have connected to it and it was choppy and it would cut out, i have it set on 802.11n 5ghz only and i have the latest firmware but im not getting very good throughput.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently was forced to restart my 13" MacBook Pro with Lion OS. After the standard start up sound and gray screen the startup ceased. After multiple failed tries and attempts to use command-r I removed the hard drive and connected it via. a SATA to USB2 connector. I'm assuming since I can work off the HDD because of the USB adaptor it is not a HDD error but something else. Would a new HDD solve the problem?

I have an iMac 27 and I want to connect it to a HDTV samsung 46 full HD. I have conected from displayport to HDMI and i get the screen. But at the same time I have connected a 3,5 minijack from the computer to the RCA audio in of the TV but I dont get sound. I have checked the config of the TV and I dont find any place to activate it. Then, talking about the screen. I have few questions.
How can I stop the screen on the iMac and work only with the HDTV?
How can I config that the windows on the tv have bigger letters while they keep on the same way on the i Mac's screen?

What's agood way to test the ethernet port on my G5 Power Mac SP 1.8G? I have other Macs on the network.
My wife complains that the internet is slow & can't stream video.Th is computer is wired to a gigbit switch, then to 100 Mbit switch then to the router. I have a 24" iMac connected to same gigibit switch and have no problem with the internet speed.When I try to send a large file between my iMac & the G5, the transfer is slow. I checked in System Profiler and both computers detect the ethernet speed as 1000 Mbit (1gigabit or something like that).
Ideas on how to resolve? Gigbit ethernet cards that will work in the G5?I don't have Airport on the G5.
So I got my first laptop and decided to splurge and got a mac. Now it's great, works great, took me a while to get used to the OS but love my mac now. I use it predominantly for surfing and just basic but am also doing filmmaking. My friend has a macbook pro with 4gb ram and better proccessor, and we used that for film editing, but want to make upgrade mine into one as well (filmmaking laptop). I also may want to use it for gaming (starcraft), photoshop and just a whole bunch of apps and programs. Should I upgrade the ram, get it upgraded for me (get someone to put in the ram) should I even buy ram, is there anything I can do to make a faster processor? Also, my internet is kinda slow, anything I can do to speed it up? Finally, my mac sometimes lags when there's a lot off apps open so I was thinking of upgrading it. I don't have much of a budget (probably not even a 100) so I need something cheap, but don't want shotty second hand stuff. How much can I add, and what else can I do? On another note, Ive been using firefox as my default browser and have added a whole bunch off addons, any other programs I should get for firefox OR any programs I should get for my mac?

Recently I have been trying to burn some video_ts files ripped with MacTheRipper on to 8x Memorex DL DVD +R. I think the problem here is that my drive is only built to handle 4x speeds. I have tried decreasing the speeds in Toast this however has no effect and I still receive a drive error. I have also tried to transform the video_ts folder into multiple different types of disc images and burn them to the DL DVD from the disk utility function. The error I get from here is also a drive error

I'm trying to run an old Tiger Woods golf game on it. When I put in the CD it says the game requires a bus speed of 500 MHz and at least 1 MB of disk space free and the game will not run.
Being brand new, the Mac has almost all of it's memory space available and the speed required (500MHz) for the game is well below the bus speed of my computer (1.07GHz). Any ideas why the game won't run?
I've been trying to connect my MacBook to my Dell monitor. So, first I bought a mini DVI-VGA cord, but realized that I had a DVI not an AVI connection. In order to save time and money, I bought a DVI (female)-VGA (male) adapter. Everything fits in and connects perfectly. The problem is: when I turn on my Dell monitor nothing shows up. It says it's on safe mode and all I have to do is press a key on the keyboard or move my mouse. I do that, but it doesn't detect anything.
I know my laptop detects the monitor because when I go to display --> arrangement, I see there are 2 screens and display --> Gather Windows, a window for the Dell does pop up. From my understanding that once you plug in all the cords from your Mac to your monitor, it should work right away. So whats wrong with my dual screen? And how can I get it working?
Can anyone suggest what should I do with Mac Mini 1,83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and my two new Dell monitors?I tried them using their standard VGI cables connected to a VGI port on a Mac Mini - both are dead. Not a single flicker.

I am unable to add aan HP Laserjet 1212nf printer connected to an Airport Base station. When I click add it takes me directly to the I.P. window. My MacBook pro running 10.6 does not see the printer, Bonjour does not search for it.

Whenever I connect my iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1) to iTunes (10.6.3) on my Mac (OS 10.7.3) it always freezes, always for about 30 seconds and then it will work again. But let me note, this only happens on the first time I connect my iPhone for the first time I turn on my Mac. I'm not sure if that makes sense. So, when I turn on my Mac and I open iTunes and connect my iPhone, it will freezes but after 30 seconds it will work. But let's say I am done syncing my iPhone and I unplug it but a few minutes later I want to sync it again, if I connect it, it won't freeze. But let's say I restart or turn off my Mac, but after I open iTunes for the first time after I've booted and I connect my iPhone, it will freeze.I've had the same issue with my last iPhone so I know it's not isolated to my iPhone. I have deleted iTunes from the Terminal app and downloaded iTunes from the Apple website, but the issue will persist.Also, I don't have any podcasts synced on my iPhone.
