I've tried deauthorizing and reauthorizing the computer, deleting the com.apple.iTunes.plist file, restarting, connecting at different times... nothing seems to work. I've got the most recent updates on both iTunes and iphone. iTunes works fine on its own, but just gives me the spinning ball whenever I connect my iphone.

But let me note, this only happens on the first time I connect my iPhone for the first time I turn on my Mac. I'm not sure if that makes sense. So, when I turn on my Mac and I open iTunes and connect my iPhone, it will freezes but after 30 seconds it will work. But let's say I am done syncing my iPhone and I unplug it but a few minutes later I want to sync it again, if I connect it, it won't freeze. But let's say I restart or turn off my Mac, but after I open iTunes for the first time after I've booted and I connect my iPhone, it will freeze.I've had the same issue with my last iPhone so I know it's not isolated to my iPhone. I have deleted iTunes from the Terminal app and downloaded iTunes from the Apple website, but the issue will persist.Also, I don't have any podcasts synced on my iPhone. I've read that sometimes causes it. I ONLY have music and apps synced.

Just upgraded my computers to Lion 10.7.3. All went well until I tried to sync my iPhone 3GS (iOS 5.1). Sync starts normally, then iTunes crashes during the "Photos" step of sync. Tried rebooting.

Itunes used to work fine, but now crashes every time I plug my iphone in. It gets partway through the sync, then quits with no error message. If I stop the syncing, itunes is fine. If I then select my iphone in the left hand column, iTunes crashes. My iphone is set to wirelessly sync. Am I supposed to affect any change if itunes won't allow me to change any syncing settings. Really, if it is wireless, it needs to be configured from the phone, not itunes...

I use my iMac (10.9.3) at home to Sync with my iPhone (7.1.1) to keep a full backup copy. I have the setting "Automatically Sync when this iPhone is connected" active, and up to recently this worked nicely. However, I think since the update to iTunes 11.2.x there seems to be a problem:
- when I am not at home, I use my MBP (also 10.9.3 and iTune 11.2.2) to charge the iPhone.
- in contrast to earlier versions of iTunes, connecting the iPhone to the MBP causes iTunes to open. It is NOT possible to sync because the iPhone is connected to the iTunes library on the iMac.
- when I disable the iTunes option "Automatically Sync when this iPhone is connected" on the MBP, the next time I connect the iPhone to the iMac iTunes does not open. And when I open it manually and "mount" the iPhone, the iTunes option "Automatically Sync when this iPhone is connected" is disabled. It seems that the iTunes option "Automatically Sync when this iPhone is connected" is now stored on the iPhone?

Updated to OSX Lion. Now everytime I'm not connecting it to the power adapter, sooner or later the screen flickers and it crashes or freezes straight away. It's usually caused when I'm using the browser to open a flash site, which is probably heavy on graphic processing. Or watching a video on quicktime or youtube, even when it's not using a flash player on youtube. Or working on a graphic heavy processing apps like Photoshop. It's updated with latest software updates.

Just got my new 2.8 with 5870. From the start it gave me some trouble getting it to turn on. I kept trying different plugs and such throughout the house and randomly I got it on. It was working good but I noticed that waking it from sleep the machine will click and the sleep light goes out and a red led behind the grill comes on briefly. I try pushing the power button to hear another click and the red led flashes. These problems seem intermittent and sometimes it will sleep fine. Im using 2 acer monitors connected via 2 vga-mini display adaptors.

I unfortunately lost my whole itunes library that was on an external hard drive. I was able to download my music and apps stored in icloud. I closed down iTunes and opened it back up to discover that it wouldn't open anymore. I tried removing the library file, thinking it might have become corrupted somehow, and iTunes would sort of half-open, but not for long. And then when I'd try to open it up again, it would crash.
At this stage, I could get it to briefly open every time by removing all the library files every time, but then it would recreate them, and when it close/crash (and it would do this every time fairly quickly), it would once again not open at all unless I removed the library files.
New version just downloaded and has crashed approx 8 to 10 times. So I reloaded the iTunes 10.6 , rebooted and experienced the same behavior. Trashed the new version, so now I have no iTunes. Don't see any opportunity to reload older version except by doing a total system reload (Snow Leopard). No, I don't have Time Machine, I had one of those crummy AirPorts with 500GB HD, but it died due to complete lack of cooling (another subject, sorry). What a totally crap design that was.
