I have an old laptop drive that wont boot up.It was a windows machine.
I removed the drive and hoped to access it using an external controller however, since mac pro has spare enclosure, will i be able to use the laptop drive through that. I know its not a 3.5 " drive I just need to access it once to get some files out
I have two macs:
-a Mac Pro with 3 screens, from which I use 6 "Spaces" with various projects on each one...
-a 13" macbook pro
From within my local wireless network, I would like to be able to access individual space's screens from my laptop. Or at the very least, be able to easily work on a certain app/window on my desktop from my laptop.
I am wanting to remotely access my mbp using my mini pc laptop running windows xp. How can I do this? Would back to my mac work or not as I would be using a pc to access the mac? Are there any other free ways of doing this. It would be great to be able to travel around with the little pc which I don't mind getting scratched etc and leave the nice shiny mbp at home

i do not want the windows laptop to gain access to my mac but i wanna access and transfer files from the windows laptop to my mac.
im basically using my xp laptop as a downloading device.
is it something easy to set up?
what will the speed be like?
by the way i also have a firewire cable. i did connect the firewire cable to my xp laptop but the mac cant see it. something on xp came up saying it should install a software but couldnt find it when looking up on the net..
i would prefer wireless connection but if firewire is easier and much faster then yeah firewire is ok.
I forgot the main password of my mac, which is why i cant use it at all.It gives me a hint but that part of the password is the only thing I remember the second half of it is what I've completely forgotten

I was wondering if I would be able to remote access my lost laptop if the administrator account has been deleted. Being absent minded I left my bag at the bus station and I figure who ever has found it is keeping it by now since I haven't gotten a phone call yet and it's been over a week.
The trouble opening my credit union account just started yesterday and it was usable the day before. I enter my username and password and the next window tries to open my account but ends up on a page that reads invalid username and password! What has happened to my settings?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just bought a 640gig Samsung 2.5 inch / 5400rpm drive and threw it in a FW800 case from Other world computing. Running some test using the QuickBench 4 and AJA system test shows me that this little bugger is almost as quick as my internal drive on my MacBook Pro (Model number: WDC WD6400BEVT-00A0RT0). How can this be???? I did a varity of test with different file sizes and the Samsung get 70 MB/s vs about 84 MB/s for the internal drive.
My internal drive is pretty full vs this external drive that is currently empty. I do a lot of video work / large gigabyte files on the drive so perhaps I have a defrag problem? I really expected my internal drive to blow the FW800 connected Samsung out the water?
My son's asked me to fix the CD drive on his G4 iMac. It very rarely opens when you press the 'eject' button. I'm wondering if it's just a build up of dust, so I was wondering if anyone's had experience of this, and how easy it is to access the drive.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a 500GB hard drive in my laptop, I partitioned it and I put 80GB for Windwos and then the rest of it for MAC, I don't know how but I somehow got rid of the Windows. I ejected the BOOTCAMP on the Desktop of the Mac OS X and then I tried to delete the partition but it didn't work. Now I tried to go to BootCamp Assistant but It doesn't show that I have partitioned hard drive. It shows me that I have only 420GB and it shows only my Macintosh HD. The 80GB are lost somewhere. Tell me how can I format the whole hard drive and get the 500GB again? And i want to do it while the hard drive is in the laptop and is working? Is there any way of doing that(it is fine if i have to install the OS again) Or what do i have to get done so that I can fix it?

Suggested to move the original files to the EHD and leave the referenced files on the laptop to save space and still allow edits. My question is, if you are using Time Machine, what is it backing up on the LT and how do you apply this to the data on the EHD?Â
What I am trying to achieve is to move my Aperture library to an external HD. and clone it to a second drive and backup the laptop with Time Machine. After the next session I would again clone the 1st drive and rely on TM to continue to backup the LT.Â

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have searched for this as much as possible but am not finding any conclusive answer and am not a techy enough to try and figure it out myself. My laptop restarted itself last night for no reason and when i restarted it, all the items on the desktop were no longer there and in the Macintosh HD folder there was a ~ file with what seemed like a system dump (approx 500kb in size) Now Firefox and iTunes no longer work. iTunes says it can not find the library file. [URL:...] This happened 6 months ago when i tried to install CS 3 suite and i had to reinstalled OSX and start all from scratch. If i delete the file and restart the laptop, the file returns, and then it begins to no longer recognize external hard drives and the only way to access them is via Terminal. i am backing up what i can for the moment but would prefer to know what has happened and how to fix it.
