One of the four rubber feet on the bottom of my MBP has fallen off. Is this covered by Applecare? Can I just pretty much walk in, talk to a Genius and get a new on on the spot?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is most irritating behavior when the cursor can slide pages left or right. I realize some of you may like this but I do not. I know this is an attempt to make the OS more like iOS but to me this is unnecessary. How do I stop it?

I'm using a new MacBook Pro running Mac OS X Mavericks Version 10.9.3.The behaviour I want to change happens when I have a Finder window maximised.
If I open a file in the open folder, the finder "slides" offscreen, to the right, as the file opens. When I close the file, instead of the Finder window I see the desktop.
If I'm working through a folder with lots of file I have to check or alter, this is a massive waste of time. How to change the settings so that Finder simply stays open?
So I removed my 4th bay's tray and it seems the dampeners are not thru the holes and unless you get them half way thru the holes you cannot slide back the tray because the screws are too high and make contact with the surface.
When you have nothing to screw them into what is the best way of getting the rubber dampeners thru the holes so the screws will sit low enough in the tray to reinsert the tray?
So my final tray #4 has no drive attached but those rubber stopper things aren't easy to get thru the holes. Right now the only way I can put my track is to remove the screws entirely and keep them outside the case. I'd rather them insert into the holes of the sled that's empty but for I need those darn grey rubber things to go thru the holes.
I have a Mac intel 2 x 266 intel. About a year ago, my mouse started having a mind of its own and just would slide across the screen, it just occurred every so often, but in recent times it is continually happening (at least every 3 minutes). A little embarrassing when a PC user uses my Mac and comments upon it. Any ideas how to solve?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently got a new macbook pro (thanks to Apple's great customer care/Customer Replacement Unit policy), and two days later, it got stuck under a moving chair, which peeled off the outer rubber insulation for the power supply cord. And a beautiful thing happened I used to notice that the magsafe power adapter would slip out when i was moving my macbook around from place to place a little bit too easily. Then I put 1 1/2 inches of electric tape about a centimeter away from the actual magsafe-macbook port, and the addition added just a little bit of resilience because of some sort of physics i can't explain. so if you want your magsafe to be a little bit stronger, but still pull out if you move it too hard, just add an inch of electrical tape to the end. works like a charm!

Can you run a mac mini server just like a regular desktop model mac mini?
Does the server version of SL prevent you from using the computer like a regular mac mini with a monitor and keyboard and mouse?
Can anyone point me to a good beginner article on the use and setup of a server? I feel like I understand computers pretty well, but servers are a mystery to me.
My wireless used to work throughout my whole apartment. It's a small one bedroom...then one day it only worked while I was in the room with the router close to my router. This also happens at my parent's house, my boyfriend's house, at coffee shops etc....everyone elses computer gets access just fine but mine cannot even see the access point. Any one have any idea what happened or how to fix it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWith the laptop open and sitting on a flat surface (granite countertop), I can press the lower left corner of the laptop down about 0.5 -1 mm and the computer wobbles a bit. It seems that the little black feet are not the same thickness all around. I am really surprised because Apple is so fanatical about having such low manufacturing tolerances... yet they somehow overlook the feet. Anyone else out there having this issue on their brand new unibody Macbook Pro? Does this go away after the feet have time to wear down a little?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I dropped my macbook pro and it was opened and it landed face down (screen/keyboard hit floor) and I picked it up immediately and plugged it back into the charger. The screen is black and it will not turn on and is making no noises or anything. When I plugged the charger back in, the light went green, but otherwise the computer is completely unresponsive. It has a plastic shell on it, but I still think that something could be wrong. Can this be fixed?! If so, how?!

I've just received a used 12" PowerBook which is in superb condition except for the feet. The original little Apple feet are missing, and the previous user has stuck large, flat, rubber feet on the bottom. I think they are the self-adhesive sort as they have slipped a little, leaving little outlines of residue on the base. The feet themselves seem fairly secure, but they are big, ugly, and slightly uneven so the case rocks very slightly. Does anybody have any advice on how to remove stuff stuck to a PowerBook case and how to clean it up? I might just buy proper Apple replacement feet (I know they are pricey), but the residue on the bottom case annoys me. How could anyone stick something on such a beautiful machine?
View 11 Replies View Relatedso one of the rubbery feet things on the bottom of my MBP decided to fall off at one point, meaning that there's a conveniently sizeable hole for dust to find its way into should it decide to :P I booked an appointment with my local Genius bar (Glasgow Store) and they didn't have the feet in at the time.... and all they could do was replace the whole back plate for ?25 + VAT :S which i wasn't expecting tbh, and resulted in a wasted trek from Edinburgh to get there!

With the Snow Leopard versions of Safari, scrolling downward (either with "page down", tapping the spacebar, or clicking in the scrolling area) and upward is done with a "sliding effect". That is to say, for lack of a better term, the page visibly "slides" upward or downward in the direction you scroll.
In _older versions_ of Safari (thinking back to OS 10.3.x and 10.4.x), scrolling was instantaneous. There was no "slide effect" Page Down or Page Up would instantly result in that part of the document being displayed.
I dislike the "sliding effects" -- for all that I can figure, they are included as a "visual treat", the same as the effects when a window is minimized to the dock. For me, however, it's "visual aggravation".
Is there any way to "turn the effects off" in Safari? I'll assume that if this is possible, it has to be done through Terminal...
Why does my mac stop downloading files, copying to clipboard, saving files to desktop, etc?
iMac g5 1.9 ghz 17" running 10.5.8. Had a hard drive crash and bought a new one. Loaded new OS leapord. Everything works fine at first, but after the computer has been on for a while, it will stop downlading files, disk verify doesn't work. I can't copy and paste stuff. It seems as if the hard drive is full, but I have only used 32GB of 300GB.
When I restart, it works again, then slowly not. Is it an overheating issue? How do I know if my fan is running? Is it a bad hard drive I put in it? Bought it new with three year waranty.
