MacBook Pro :: Dropped It Face Down 2 Feet Off Bed, And Now It Will Not Turn On Or Anything
Feb 24, 2012
So I dropped my macbook pro and it was opened and it landed face down (screen/keyboard hit floor) and I picked it up immediately and plugged it back into the charger. The screen is black and it will not turn on and is making no noises or anything. When I plugged the charger back in, the light went green, but otherwise the computer is completely unresponsive. It has a plastic shell on it, but I still think that something could be wrong. Can this be fixed?! If so, how?!

I can't get it to turn on even if it did the screen would be messed up. It had an SSD rev C will that work in a base refurb rev b or does it look like the rev D will support the same 1.8 hard drive? I can hold out a while on a G3 but I hope they update soon! It's ironic that my MBA is what I use to edit video and game to an extent so I really don't want to go back to 1.6ghz unless I have to.

My wireless used to work throughout my whole apartment. It's a small one bedroom...then one day it only worked while I was in the room with the router close to my router. This also happens at my parent's house, my boyfriend's house, at coffee shops etc....everyone elses computer gets access just fine but mine cannot even see the access point. Any one have any idea what happened or how to fix it?

One of the four rubber feet on the bottom of my MBP has fallen off. Is this covered by Applecare? Can I just pretty much walk in, talk to a Genius and get a new on on the spot?

With the laptop open and sitting on a flat surface (granite countertop), I can press the lower left corner of the laptop down about 0.5 -1 mm and the computer wobbles a bit. It seems that the little black feet are not the same thickness all around. I am really surprised because Apple is so fanatical about having such low manufacturing tolerances... yet they somehow overlook the feet. Anyone else out there having this issue on their brand new unibody Macbook Pro? Does this go away after the feet have time to wear down a little?

so one of the rubbery feet things on the bottom of my MBP decided to fall off at one point, meaning that there's a conveniently sizeable hole for dust to find its way into should it decide to :P I booked an appointment with my local Genius bar (Glasgow Store) and they didn't have the feet in at the time.... and all they could do was replace the whole back plate for ?25 + VAT :S which i wasn't expecting tbh, and resulted in a wasted trek from Edinburgh to get there!

I want to purchase the FaceTime App for my MBP, but i want to be sure that it will work for all users on my MBP. My wife and I (much to my dislike) share my MBP and When i go out of town, I want to be able to use the FaceTime app to chat with her and my son. We use seperate App store accounts for our Iphones (3g and 4s) will this matter?

I've just received a used 12" PowerBook which is in superb condition except for the feet. The original little Apple feet are missing, and the previous user has stuck large, flat, rubber feet on the bottom. I think they are the self-adhesive sort as they have slipped a little, leaving little outlines of residue on the base. The feet themselves seem fairly secure, but they are big, ugly, and slightly uneven so the case rocks very slightly. Does anybody have any advice on how to remove stuff stuck to a PowerBook case and how to clean it up? I might just buy proper Apple replacement feet (I know they are pricey), but the residue on the bottom case annoys me. How could anyone stick something on such a beautiful machine?

The "feet" or "coasters" or whatever you want to call them fell off the bottom of my MBP. I think the heat from the laptop melted the adhesive until they eventually came off. Only one remains. Anyway, I'd like to buy some extra ones and crazy glue them on. Anyone know where I can pick some up?

I'm the biggest iPhoto fan and was stoked for iLife 09'. I am just very disappointed with face detection. It hardly ever works. It's the same person but it always says unknown face. It only works when it is from the same scene, which stinks IMO. Love the idea, but not a success. Is it just me or does anyone else feel this way?

I've been looking all over the place before I decided to post a thread here.
I'm looking for a wallpaper that has the face of a leopard with an apple logo between his eyes, I've seen it somewhere and forgot to save it, I've been to Flickr, Google and Yahoo with no luck.
Do you know where I can find it?

A friend of mine running Windows had a program that detects your face using the built in camera and allows you to login this way - thereby eliminating the need to enter your password.
Is there any software available that does this for mac?

Just wondering what would be the best way to protect the "feet" on the bottom of the Macbook Pro ? As in the black rubber circular feet? I have seen some people's Macbook's and they are wearing out on the bottom, is there anything that we could use to protect them?

I thought perhaps the face recognition algorithm might work if I named my cats in a few pictures, but so far it has not. Would be cool if they updated it to work on cats and dogs.

So I get iPhoto installed at home last night and start tagging what I can. I have a bunch of albums posted to my Mobile Me gallery. I get to work and install iPhoto there. I have a small collection on my work Mac but it's all synced via Mobile Me so my published galleries show up on the left and contain the pictures even though they may not be stored locally. So I start face tagging some at work. When I go into the corkboard I notice that even though I tagged a bunch of photos of this person, only two were showing up in the corkboard, but I could still scrub through the ones I tagged before. I'm thinking something is broke until I realize the photos that I've tagged of this person were on the mobile me gallery and NOT on my local Mac. Now I wonder if this will sync back up with my Mac Pro at home.

I was a trouble. Dropped today to 1.5 meters and the bent angle of the laptop. The laptop was in a protective case! But the consequences were still. Here you have a solidaluminum body Now the question: is it possible to somehow at home to fix the problem?Something like sandpaper, but not to make things worse.

I was going on vacation and dropped my mid-2009 MacBookPro (Model Number: A1297) at security. It fell off of the conveyor belt down onto the ground. It was powered off, and there is no visible external damage other than a dent in the back cover. It loads to the main FileVault screen where I choose the user, I put in the password, and it accepts it. Then it shows the Apple logo with a spinning loading sign in the middle. But it is stuck on that screen and won't go any further. There is no clicking noise coming from it, and it doesn't power off unless I hold down the power button.
Is it the hard drive? If so, is there anyway to move files from this hard drive to a new one, or is it, and its contents, lost?

Battery life on my MacBook Air (1.86/SSD) has dropped to less than two hours (for casual web browsing). When new, I got more than 4 hours on a full charge. Also, the battery meter seems to be way off.The machine shuts off with the meter showing 40% remaining. I've tried several full charge - discharge cycles.System information shows battery health to be good.
