View 3 Replies View RelatedMackeeper and oneclickads keep opening when I click on a page anywhere while browsing, even if it is not a hyperlink. How to stop them?
Although when I click on a link, my address bar shows "Pop-up blocked" but it still opens up a new window with Mackeeper or other ads. And then I have to click again on the link for the actual page to open up.
This happens on Safari as well as Chrome browsers.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an aluminium cased iMac (2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) running OS 10.6.8.
Recently I have found that sometimes the machine will not boot - I get the normal chime, grey screen and then the flashing question mark icon. I first noticed the problem a few months ago when restarting after a power outage had occured whilst I was using the Mac. After a couple of tries the machine booted and so I thought little more about it because in usual circumstances when the machine was shut down correctly it started as normal and behaved perfectly. However, after another power outage over the weekend the problem has become much worse.
I have tried all the usual things like trying to boot up in safe mode and recovery mode but with no success. The only way I can get the Mac to boot at all is to simply keep powering down and powering up again and hoping that it will spring into life. Once it does boot the Mac behaves perfectly.
I have an 10.6.8 universal system disk and I got the machine to boot from this disk. I then tried to perform some diagnostics on the hard drive (320Gb) but when I got to the pane that shows the available drivesthere was no drive to be seen.
After a lot of tries I have got it to boot off the hard drive since so, I have been able to back up files that weren't archived to an external drive.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm selling my old iMac and while cleaning the hard drive it froze. I forced shut down and when I turned it back on a circle with a diagonal came up initially, followed by flashes of that, a question mark and the apple symbol. Now it won't get past the grey screen and the flashing symbols.

Why does my mac stop downloading files, copying to clipboard, saving files to desktop, etc?
iMac g5 1.9 ghz 17" running 10.5.8. Had a hard drive crash and bought a new one. Loaded new OS leapord. Everything works fine at first, but after the computer has been on for a while, it will stop downlading files, disk verify doesn't work. I can't copy and paste stuff. It seems as if the hard drive is full, but I have only used 32GB of 300GB.
When I restart, it works again, then slowly not. Is it an overheating issue? How do I know if my fan is running? Is it a bad hard drive I put in it? Bought it new with three year waranty.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using Mackeeper for several months and recently that product and its' maaketing company have been in the middle of a firestorm of public comment sand reviews. Being a csual user of computers and not having a strong background in programming or software, it is very hard to try and make sense of the extremely strong and conflicting reviews and comments on sites such as Mac Update. Does Apple have an official position on this product? Or, where can I go to get some reviews or opinions on this product without all of the vitriolic commentary?

Every minute or so, the icons on my desktop dissapear and reappear in less than a second. It is almost as if something is crashing and restarting in the background. It would be that big of a problem, except that if I am working on a full screened app it slides me back to "Desktop 1" everytime that it happens.

My dual screens are flashing, sometimes fading in and out of blue. Sometimes when they flash back to my normal desktop from the blue, everything is frozen, I can't move the mouse or do anything. What is going on with this? I have a Mac Pro Tower, OS X 10.5.4, 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core intel Xeon processing, 6 GB 800MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM RAM. I use this machine to run a recording studio. It is used primarily with a Pro Tools HD3 rig.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I start up my iMac the desktop photo only takes up part of the display area in the upper left. The Dock is also showing up on the right side of the desktop photo and not on the right hand side of the screen where it should be. All my desktop file icons are where they should be.
If I switch accounts and switch back the display is back to what it should be. This just started happening in the last week or so and only happens on one account on the computer. I have not made any setup changes or installed any software before this happened but I did install the latest OSX update right before this started happening.
