Mar 17, 2012I'm migrating the admin side of my life to my iMac. I am using Mac mail for my mai, this includes a Gmail IMAP account and a POP3 account for my meandering ISP. The IMAP one loads up fine with the IMAP folders there under a sub set of folders for the account.But the POP3 account won't let me create folders within it nor does it have a subset like the Geekwolf one you see below.What do I need to do to get it to have folders, I need to be able to sort incoming mail, but at the moment, I can't.My ISP does have an IMAP setting, but I don't want to have the mail sat about on a server.

Note: Mail and Spotlight search worked perfectly in Snow Leopard before upgrade.

May 24, 2012My Gmail has not been able to send emails for 2 days. All emails have been stucked in the outbox folder. Sometimes i got a message " smtp google server" or something like that.
I do not use a gmail app. It is the envelope icon on the bottom of the ipad that i use to access my emails.

May 29, 2012I have a folder under my Gmail account marked "All Mail" which currently has over 10,000 messages that I would like to delete. I am using the Apple email program. I am able to delete them only to have them return when I reboot my computer. I am concerned that these ever growing messsages will slow down my computer. I have worked with my internet provider, Apple tech, and gmail and no one seems to have an answer. They do not show up with I access my gmail account through the web.

Mar 23, 2012I use an iMac and recently upgraded to Lion OS. Everything was working fine, including Mail.
But the Hard Disk developed some hardware defect and I was forced to replace the hard disk with a new one. The service center added the new harddisk with OS 10.6.8 and now when I connect the old hard disk using USB connection (which is running 10.7) I am unable to find the Mail and Mail downloads folder in the library folder...
Is it because my machine is running on 10.6.8 and the hard disk is having 10.7?

Jul 3, 2012When my computer-based Mac Mail program stopped collecting mail on Sunday (it still sends mail without issue) I researched suggestions on a fix without a success. Today I upgraded to Lion and I'm still unable to collect mail through Mac Mail. I have opened an iCloud account and can access my mail through the web-based program, and can also access my mail through my iPhone. But Mac Mail on my computer won't collect mail. I had assumed that the install would automatically configure my settings. I've tried checking and unchecking SSL and assigned ports 993 and 995; I've changed my account email addresses from [URL] to [URL] (even though I hate [URL]) but nothing seems to work.

Have checked, rechecked, deleted, recreated, rebuilt, and did the ancient ritual of the chicken dance, but am always greeted with the Cannot send message using the server smtp.covad.net. Been through all the "resolutions" that I have come across, to no avail. This began two days ago.
I am also unable to send via my iPhone 4 (running iOS 5.1). I can send via the webmail interface for Covad, and the Connection Doctor generates all green.

May 22, 2012If an email is either replied or forwarded to me I am unable to open any of the attachments from the originial messages. So unless someone forwards me an email and includes an attachment directly in their emial to me I'm not able to open any attachments. In the email this is how the attachments appear:<CBA_COMPS_5.2.12_PDF.pdf><Screen Shot 2012-05-17 at 2.10.18 PM.png>They are just text and not clickable. How can I make it so that I can open them?

Apr 24, 2012Today my emails can not get through. The ball keeps spinning on Mac Mail. There is a triangle next to it, which says when clicked: " Unable to receive Mail: There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account XXXXX or try again. The server returned the error: The connection to the server "mail.optonline.net" on port 110 failed (error 51: Network is unreachable" I verified disk permissions, reset my modem, rebooted, but nothing. I can obviously go online but can not access my mail in any of my accounts. All software is up to date. I am able to send and receive email on my iPad 2 (wifi) but not on my iMac.

Apr 4, 2012I had approximately 15 draft emails. They were stored on computer, i.e. the setting "Store draft messages on server" was NOT checked. I re-used those messages often in my business. I am on Mail version 5.2 (1257) and Lion 10/7
Suddenly the whole folder disappeared.
None of the draft messages are in my email account on the server - and they are all gone (deleted?) from on the computer. In other words, I currently see none of my long and quite important Drafts anywhere.Is there any other way to find these drafts and bring them back?

Apr 18, 2007I have just installed 10.4.9 Server on a Mac Mini, I am no expert but I got most of the services running using a book on setting up server.
The problem I have is everyone on the local network can send and recieve mail no problem using IMAP or POP3 accounts and even Webmail works offsite,
But when someone is offsite like at home, they cannot authenticate and connect to the server to send mail, we use Apple mail but have even tried Thunderbird and Outlook on a PC. None will connect.
Currently we are using CRAM-MD5 for mail authentication.
