Sep 1, 2009I'm having a problem with Apple Mail. It won't let me open .doc attachments in a compose window, yet I can open .docx attachments without issue. For example, when I compose a new message and attach a document, I like to double click the attachment within the message to confirm that I'm sending the right file to my client.
With 10.5, this wasn't an issue. Everything opened as expected. But with 10.6, I get an error message that says "Mail was unable to save the attachment "file_name" to disk. Verify that your downloads folder exists and is writable." Again, this is ONLY happening with .doc files and it happens no matter which account in Mail I choose to send from.

May 24, 2012My Gmail has not been able to send emails for 2 days. All emails have been stucked in the outbox folder. Sometimes i got a message " smtp google server" or something like that.
I do not use a gmail app. It is the envelope icon on the bottom of the ipad that i use to access my emails.

May 29, 2012I have a folder under my Gmail account marked "All Mail" which currently has over 10,000 messages that I would like to delete. I am using the Apple email program. I am able to delete them only to have them return when I reboot my computer. I am concerned that these ever growing messsages will slow down my computer. I have worked with my internet provider, Apple tech, and gmail and no one seems to have an answer. They do not show up with I access my gmail account through the web.

Mar 15, 2010Ive recently downloaded a trail for the download accelerator DAP (Download Accelerator Plus) to speed up the download of a world of warcraft patch. Unfortunately, I had to delete this program when I realized that this was causing my computer to overheat due to pushing my computer's abilities through the roof. My computer has not been damaged in anyway, and i have "deleted" the program but when i still continue to try to download something it says that "DAP Plugin cannot find Download accelerator plus"; even thuogh i just deleted everything. so then i try to delete the plugin, but my mac says that "this item cannot be deleted when it is in use" but it really is not.
Can any of you help me to try to delete this plugin so i can start downloading again. After several attempts and techniques I STILL am not able to download anythinh

Mar 27, 2010For some reason recently when I go to download anything I see the 'swirly indicator' at the top of the page briefly, then it stops and there is no new download in the Download Folder and Finder does not show any new file. Not the usual popping up of a window where I can see the size of the file and the download progress and the get the file from Downloads as was the case previously.

Apr 18, 2007I have just installed 10.4.9 Server on a Mac Mini, I am no expert but I got most of the services running using a book on setting up server.
The problem I have is everyone on the local network can send and recieve mail no problem using IMAP or POP3 accounts and even Webmail works offsite,
But when someone is offsite like at home, they cannot authenticate and connect to the server to send mail, we use Apple mail but have even tried Thunderbird and Outlook on a PC. None will connect.
Currently we are using CRAM-MD5 for mail authentication.

Mar 17, 2012I'm migrating the admin side of my life to my iMac. I am using Mac mail for my mai, this includes a Gmail IMAP account and a POP3 account for my meandering ISP. The IMAP one loads up fine with the IMAP folders there under a sub set of folders for the account.But the POP3 account won't let me create folders within it nor does it have a subset like the Geekwolf one you see below.What do I need to do to get it to have folders, I need to be able to sort incoming mail, but at the moment, I can't.My ISP does have an IMAP setting, but I don't want to have the mail sat about on a server.

Note: Mail and Spotlight search worked perfectly in Snow Leopard before upgrade.
