View 3 RepliesI have a new iMac and I want to transfer my Apple Mail from my older Mac Book Pro running Snow Leopard to it. I've zipped up the Mail folder that was under Library and I found out how to access the hidden Library on my iMac. I see mail has changed a bit in Lion and before I unzip my mail folder into /Library/Mail, I want to make sure I won't screw anything up.Â

Can't get Imac mail to sync with ipad. When I read stuff on Ipad then go to iMac it shows as still unread.

While I'm really glad that Notes sync between the iPhone/iPod touch and Mail.app, I wasn't aware that they could get mixed in with each other. See the attached screenshot.

I am on iCloud but still not clear how to use it... but hoping it will allow me to mirror all my Mail Smart folders between the iMac and MacBook Air.

I have to quit Mail and restart it to start getting emails again. Plus all the messages I had deleted come back again and those moved elsewhere are back in the inbox. My company IT says the problem is that they are using an older version of MS Exchange server software and that Apple is not fully compatible. Is there a way to improve Apple Mail performance on my end?

10.7.3, bound to ADÂ Several questions that I can't seem to find the answer to on apple's KB. Â 1. When setting up an iphone to synch with the lion server, why does it only present mail and notes for synch? Is this just how it works, you have to setup the different services seperately for mail, contacts, and calendar? I can't believe that when an iphone has builtin support for exchange.Â
2. I followed [url] to get ical working for AD users. I also followed http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5276 to get push notifications in ical and addressbook working for AD users. It was initially working after following this doc, however now it's not. Even after restarting just get invalid username or password. The log file shows something about an OD crash which seems to coincide with an attempt to login to iCal using AD credentials.
3. I cannot edit user's shortnames via WGM. Even so, it wouldn't accomplish what i need. So i'm fine with just manually creating aliases. I tried to edit the postfix aliases file for a test alias group: user1, user2 Doesn't work even after restarting mail it says it's unknown user. Mailman doesn't work the way i expected. I need to create distrobution groups, not a maillist. Â

I need to have Lion to sync my iPhone and iPad with my iMac. Do I first update to Snow Leopard then Lion to do this?

I use iCloud for syning Mail & Notes. Contacts, Calendars and Documents & Data. I am 100% sure that in the past in iTunes/Info tab "Sync contacts" and "Sync Mail Accounts" showed all my different Address Book groups and different email account to be synced. Since recently they seem disappeared and I only see my different Calendars to be synced. Why are both Sync contacts empty and Sync Mail Accounts both emtpy/dimmed. BTW if I check Sync contacts I get a message that they are synced through iCloud etc. etc. Now if I enable on my Mac another email account in Apple Mail it is not added to my iPhone/iPad anymore. How can I change that ?Â

I installed Lion on both my Mac Pro and my MacBook Pro. The MacBook Pro maintained the rules I had set set up in Mail. My MacPro had a few issues in upgrading and I lost all my rules. Unlike Mobile Me, iCloud doesn't sync rules. How can I get them from my laptop to my desktop?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe upgrade to Lion was a bit rocky, but I've made it through. One last thing remains: all my RSS feeds.I've tried dipping into Library/Mail/V2/RSS and dragging my Snow Leopard RSS folders in there; unsuccessful. So is importing them as mailboxes, they simply populate the sidebar on the left.I realize I could manually go and find every RSS feed URL and redo everything. But I had flagged articles and organized posts for reading/reference, and all that would be lost.If anyone knows how I can 'migrate' all of my RSS feeds from my Snow Leopard backup into Lion,

Today my emails can not get through. The ball keeps spinning on Mac Mail. There is a triangle next to it, which says when clicked: " Unable to receive Mail: There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account XXXXX or try again. The server returned the error: The connection to the server "mail.optonline.net" on port 110 failed (error 51: Network is unreachable" I verified disk permissions, reset my modem, rebooted, but nothing. I can obviously go online but can not access my mail in any of my accounts. All software is up to date.  I am able to send and receive email on my iPad 2 (wifi) but not on my iMac.Â

I wasn't able to move the data from my old MacBook to my new MacBook running Lion, because I was using FileVault on the old system, and the Migration Assistant doesn't support home directories with FileVault enabled.Â
I've managed to migrate everything without issue -- Music, Photos, Movies -- all worked great. However, when I try to start Mail under Lion, I get prompted to reconfigure Mail. I've copied the ~/Library/Mail folder and the Preferences file (com.apple.mail.plist) to the new laptop (via SFTP) but Mail won't pick up from where it left off.Â
I had approximately 15 draft emails. They were stored on computer, i.e. the setting "Store draft messages on server" was NOT checked. I re-used those messages often in my business. I am on Mail version 5.2 (1257) and Lion 10/7
Suddenly the whole folder disappeared.
None of the draft messages are in my email account on the server - and they are all gone (deleted?) from on the computer. In other words, I currently see none of my long and quite important Drafts anywhere. Is there any other way to find these drafts and bring them back?

I have AOL for my e-mail and I synced my account to my new MBP, but it doesn't show my "Saved Mail" folder on my computer.
The only ones that are accessible are "Inbox", "Sent" and "Trash".
I know how to set up hotmail in Apple mail so that I am receiving email and can send email. But when I send a e-mail from my hotmail account from another computer, the email I've sent, wont appear in the 'sent' box of apple mail. Is there a possibility to sync my hotmail account entirely? No hotmail bashing or advice to switch to gmail or another webmail kind of thing.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've just renewed my MobileMe account after several months of it lying idle, but I can't get it to sync with the Mail application on my mac.
All the settings are still the same from when the subscription expired. The MobileMe only offers help in setting it up to sync for the first time.

I am having problems with icloud syncing my mail immediatly. It used to do this, but no longer does. For example, as soon as I deleted an email on my phone, it would delete off my notebook. Now, I have to delete it from both locations. Same for receiving mail and replies/forwards.

I have an Apple laptop and an Apple desktop. Both are running 10.5.4 and have the MobileMe 1.1 s/w update.
On the laptop, I've set up my Mail accounts, contacts, keychains, bookmarks, etc. as I want them.
I access MobileMe in System Preferences and indicate I want all data on MobileMe replaced by the data on my laptop.
As soon as the sync has completed, I access MobileMe in System Preferences on my Desktop and indicate I want all data on my desktop replaced by the data on MobileMe. Unless I'm missing something, the laptop, MobileMe, and the desktop should all by in sync at this point.
Without touching either computer or accessing MobileMe, I'll get a message on my laptop and/or desktop within an hour telling me that more than 5% of my Mail accounts have changed and asking me what I want to do. If I look at the details of the change, the before and after views of the account are absolutely identical. I've tried resetting the sync history via iSync but that doesn't help. I really don't want to alter the changed percentage that triggers the message because it could be useful for Contacts, etc.
For a number of reasons, I cannot use a web based mail program and use Apple Mail. Is there any way to synchronize my laptop and desktop mail activities so whatever happens on one happens on the other?
