View 3 RepliesIf I select from the menu bar another available wireless network (one without a password for example) and then switch back to my own wi-fi network, am I still safe?
Did the fact that I connected to another network present any risks?
I did not send any private info during that time, any risks of getting hacked?
How can I get my old mail set up back. When I Moved to the cloud it went to the new way to view mail and I hate it - I want the mail stacked.

I changed my outgoing font to French but I can't remember how I did that. The American fla is up in the upper right corner. When I compose, it thinks I'm composing in French (with accent marks where I don't want them and the spell check marks most words as misspelled). No problem with incoming mail?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using the Windows 7 beta and it's incredible. No random Vista slowdowns, User Account Control works just right, and everything worked out of the box. And I love the new task bar. Since it's a new installation (on a better computer, too) it seems even faster than XP and even OS X. So now that many of you have had experience with the beta, do you think the final product will be enough to make you switch back to Windows? And if you've been a Mac user all your life, will you cross to the "dark" side?

I really do not like the appearance of Yosemite and I'd like to change it back. I went to the app store and downloaded the installer for Mavericks but when I open it it says that the file's too old to work on Yosemite. How do I go back?

I am not using Time Machine as Genius Bar at the Apple store told me it was best not to (I was continually having errors and so GeniusBar erased my hard drive and reinstalled Lion). They said to then manually drag over documents onto my hard drive, avoiding the Applications, so no possible errors could be dragged back onto the clean hard drive.
But now I have Mail and none of my folders and previous accounts. Of course I can re-setup my accounts, but then they will just try to redownload all of the millions of emails I had before. None of the very organised folders I previously had, sent messages, etc, etc.

When I moved from Windows to MacOS, I tried to find MacOS applications to replace the ones I used on Windows (just like everybody). The more I tried, the more I found out that I should go for apps designed specifically for the MacOS, as they were more streamlined than the ones made for Windows and then converted to the MacOS.
Anyway, I found out some truly useful MacOS apps and which have great functionality. Some of these apps have features which are not shared by any Windows apps (or at least it seems to me).
If I were to go back to Windows (just to make it clear: I'm not), would I be able to replace the MacOS apps I use with Windows apps with the same or similar functionality? I'd like to make this a kind of game in order to find out which MacOS apps are non-replaceable killer apps.r own apps to the list.
I installed Windows on Boot Camp, but the Application Install DVD is blank. To replace the DVD I have to drive 2-3 hours to an apple store or apple will send me one for $17. Is there a way I can get back to the Mac and delete the Boot Camp partition? The tool in control panel is not there because I could not use the Application istall DVD.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMail iwill show that I have x (22 for example) mails, but instead of showing the 22 different e-mails, it lists one e-mail, with 22 copies. The only way to get the proper list back, is to rebuild the mail box. When this problem is bad, like today, I've rebuilt my mailbox 5 times in the last hour.

I checked google, I searched this forum for Caret, but nowhere on the internet, I can find a way to go back to 'normal' browsing. Does anybody know how to switch back?

You move the mouse over to the scroll bar, favorites bar, minimize, etc... and the mouse is stuck in the wrong icon, be it the text pointer, hand pointer, window resize pointer... when it should be the arrow. It is such an obvious bug and I can't believe Apple hasn't noticed this.

I am trying to install OSX Lion onto my Late 2009 iMac 27" computer. I download it from the App Store and install it via the installer. The computer restarts itself and finishes installing, then once it restarts again it boots back into OSX 10.7.4. No errors or problems, just never follows through on install once completed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy daughter is bilingual and somehow switched Mail to spell check in Spanish. But now she cannot figure out how to change it back to select the English dictionary.
Leopard is easy (there you can control-click the spellchecked redlined word for a contextual menu with dictionary management on it).
But Mail v2.3.3, on Tiger at least, does not work the same way.

Apple Mail would recognize the language I would write after typing the first word or two. After a system crash, I can only write in German although the language for Mail is selected as English using Language Switcher. After some time, Mail opens in German again, and the language displayed in Language Switcher is Arabic.Â
On all my other machines, Mail behaves as ever. Mavericks is being operated in German, Mail in English. Some of the language settings must have been changed.
It seems that my new MacBook Pro is finally on its way so I am preparing for the switch from XP to OS. I am pretty much set but still have some questions which I couldn?t find an answer for yet. So here we go:1.Partitions I:Do I need different partitions on a Mac as well? On Windows I always had my System Volume which I tried not to touch at all and then had another partition with all my data to be able to reinstall Windows without having to backup all my data. How does that work on a Mac? Do I need to reinstall Mac OS at least once a year as well because it has become terribly slow? Any other reasons why I should have different partitions?2.Partitions II: I am going to keep a copy of XP running on my Mac as well. I?d like to install it via BootCamp and then use it either with BootCamp or with Parallels or VMWare (prolly the former). Do I have to define the Windows partition beforehand? Because I guess the OS will come preinstalled, right?

Sometimes restarting is not enough: you need to power off your Mac, wait for a little, and power it on again. It could be a script which act like the "schedule" program in system preferences: it would switch off the Mac immediately, the add 1 minute to the current time and switch it on again.
