I have more than one email account set up on Mail and the strangest thing happens and I can't find out how to stop it.
Here is the problem:
- I have 2 accounts, 'Account A' is for my partner & 'Account B' is for me.
- Someone sends an email to 'Account A' (my partner) and CCs 'Account B' (me) into the same eMail.
- If I click reply from 'Account B' it sends the eMail from 'Account A' which is my partner, when it should be from me.
I have worked out that this is because 'Account A' was originally sent the eMail in The 'To' field as opposed to the 'CC' field in composing the reply eMail. I know that I can manually change the 'From' field every time when replying to an eMail but it becomes an nuisance. I forget to do it when quickly replying as I consider Mail to reply from the account that I'm reading the email from.
I have gone to the compose section in the preferences and there is an option for changing this when composing a new email but nothing when replying.
Is there away to import mail account settings from Thunderbird and/or Outlook Express into Mail? [that is mail.app, to help any one searching later on as Mail is too common a word to search for]. I've imported all my messages correctly but don't know how or if it's possible to import my account settings. Also: I'm in the process of migrating all my e-mails / mail accounts / settings and mail rules from Outlook Express to Mail [Mail.app]. I have successfully got all my e-mails across. I have also managed to convert all the e-mail addresses in the 50+ mail rules, as stored in the Windows registry, from hex into text.
Some of my rules have tens of e-mail addresses which if I had to add in each address separately would be a nightmare. Is there away of block adding in e-mail addresses to Mail? Also is it possible to manually edit the mail rules preference file(s) and insert the e-mail addresses into that? I'm aware I have to manually recreate the rules themselves but that's not so difficult. It's the adding back in of all the e-mail addresses that might be, given the large number that exist.
Does anyone know of an easy method to receive a return e-mail receipt using Apple Mail and a .Mac/.Me account. I know that in Windows you can use Outlook to receive/request a return receipt when the receiver opens the e-mail. I believe that even using Microsoft Office Entourage '08 would work as well but I really want to stay all Apple applications if at all possible
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an early 2011 MacBook Pro running OS Lion (10.7.3) and in the last two weeks I face the following problem with the Mail application and my Yahoo mail account: although the account appears in the side bar of the application and it will search for new messages when I launch the Mail app, it doesn't load any messages and I also realised that all Mailboxes of the named account are blank! The messages appear normally when I reach my account through the Yahoo page! I tried to remove and re-import the account in the Mail app, but it just worked for two days and now the Mailboxes are blank again! I have no problems with the other two mail accounts I reach through the same application (both POP accounts).

How do I sync Google Apps mail account with Apple Mail 5.2?
Info:mail 5.2, Mac OS X (10.7.4)
I've added a Google Apps account to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 few weeks ago to use it in Mail, but I removed it last week. I tried adding it back during the weekend, but I've been getting this error: "Mail couldn't discover the account settings for the Mail server domain"
This comes after I click "Set Up" and tick Mail only. I don't have 2 step verification enabled for that account and I didn't change any account settings since adding it last time.
Also, I can still see the account (as well as other Google account that's currently not added to OS X) in Accounts.plist located in: ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData

I have decided to use Entourage over Mail due to it's robustness and more features than I can possibly ever use. Here the question:I am coming from a PC using Outlook 2007. I have done my research on how to get my mail off my Outlook and importing it into Entourage.Fine, great and dandy. I haven't performed it yet but I have a couple of questions before running with this.1. I have MobileMe account. Installing that into Entourage was relatively easy. Done.2. Installing a new "mail" account (POP or IMAP), I'm going to assume is the same way BUT if I install this, will it mix with my MobileME? What I am expecting to see is that it would store separately in it's own section. What is right?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm migrating the admin side of my life to my iMac. I am using Mac mail for my mai, this includes a Gmail IMAP account and a POP3 account for my meandering ISP. The IMAP one loads up fine with the IMAP folders there under a sub set of folders for the account. But the POP3 account won't let me create folders within it nor does it have a subset like the Geekwolf one you see below. What do I need to do to get it to have folders, I need to be able to sort incoming mail, but at the moment, I can't.My ISP does have an IMAP setting, but I don't want to have the mail sat about on a server.

I'm having an impossible time setting up a second email account on Mail. Seemed as though it would be simple but after I've done all the basics, it sets up the account on MobileMe instead of iCloud and there it stops. Can't send or receive messages.

I am away from home, and the inbox of one of my mail accounts on my MBP (10.7.3) has lost all its information. When I get home I want to restore (most of) the lost data from my Time Machine backup.
However, I do not want to restore all the accounts and all the mailboxes, just the one that was lost.
How to I find the Inbox for that account, in order to use the older file in Time Machine to restore it with?

I've opened a secondary email account and Mail won't accept the password. I can send OK but not receive. But when I check with bigpond online the test emails are both sent and received but only sent through Mail - tried changing the password many times, quitting app, restart, and even delete that mail account and reenter - all to no avail

I am using Mac Mail with three Gmail accounts. Very frequently, I'll send an email from one account and when the reply arrives, it comes to one of the other accounts. This is making it very hard to segregate personal and business emails.

I just set up new IMAP account on Mail (Version 2.1.3 (753.1). And I can send and receive mail fine. However the sent mail is not showing anywhere.
Also the mailbox has submailboxes directly underneath it (whcih are all empty) unlike the other mailboxes where Draft and Sent Mail are all in the same place from all of the accounts.
When I go to account info, the system tells me that I haven't sent any mail. But I have and already received answers.
What is wrong and what can I do to repair it?
About a week ago I noticed that my emails were not being received by Mail. I have my mail set up on my iPhone as well and I was receiving emails on the iPhone, however they were not showing up on my macbook pro. The account is sbcglobal.net. How can I fix this?

For some strange reason Leopard mail doesn't seem to want to save any of our passwords to any our accounts. We've gone into mail preferences and saved them there, but as soon as we close down mail it 'forgets' them again. We've also repaired the keychain, but the same thing happens. Anyone know of how to fix a password memory problem?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had this problem with every single MacBook I've owned running on Leopard, Snow Leopard and now on my Lion one too!Does anyone know how to stop it? It seems to be worse than ever on my new Lion OS MacBook Air.I have Yahoo!, iCloud, Hotmail and BT Internet email addresses in my mail app. Every two minutes the dock icon starts bouncing and it's requesting the password for one of them. Everytime I tick the box saying "remember this in my keychain" but no sooner have I done that and it pops back up again requesting the password that I have just entered. I am entering the correct passwords and all email addresses are active. It's really winding me up at the moment as I keep having to quit the mail app because I can't stop it from asking for passwords. This MacBook is brand new. I only got it delivered from Apple last week!

I recently changed the password on my AOL account ( for security ). But now everytime I launch mail, I get a dialogue box asking me to input my new password. Once do this it works fine. But doing this every time is annoying. I have entered the new pw in Mails preferences in 'Accounts' but it doesn't seem to work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI keep getting asked to insert my password for the three accounts I access via mail. I can't get the preferences to save the passwords and can't get the passwords working with the keychain. It seems that keychain isn't accepting passwords since I changed my system from mobile me to icloud. I still have Mac OS X. version 10.6.8. I wish that mobile me was still an option.

1) Is there a way to make safari start a new tab when opening a link on the next tab you're watching instead of the last one?
2) When I read mails on my iPhone they don't "always" appear as read on the Mail app, is there a way to fix this? (Using Yahoo and Hotmail accounts)
3) And finally, is there a way to set a password just for when someone tries to log in remotely to my mac? I found that you could set one for start up or after going to sleep or screensaver but I don't want the password when someone enters physically to the mac but over the internet, can that be done?
Recently my Mailbox started prompting me for my password. When I enter it, I get told the MobileMe IMAP server rejects it, so my mac mail is frozen in time when viewed on my MAC. Yet I can log into to my mail via web just fine, my iPhone and iPad have no problem. It seems like this is an issue that occurred recently after I migrated ot iCloud but I cant be sure. I haven't made any other changes or software upgrades and I've been happily using mail for years. How does one resync IMAP passords on the server (if that is what I need to do)?
