View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a domain through Google a few years ago, the host was Enom until last month when I decided to switch to UK2 and had to export my email before switching servers.
I ended up having a large .mbox file. After the switch I uploaded the file on mail and I found that all the emails saved in subfolders were missing (see image). It goes without saying those were the most important emails.Â
Is there a way to recover the emails in the subfolder?
I use Mail 7.2 (1874) on Mavericks OS X 10.9.2

I just got my MacBook Pro (late 2011/Mavericks) back from a covered Apple repair. It now has a new logic board, and although most other things seem to work ok, I cannot log in to either of my Mail accounts (or to the C-panel of my website, where one of those accounts is located), either by using the existing password entries in MAIL preferences, or by entering the passwords manually. How do I get this to reset so that I can access my mail?

I know how to create a email profile on OSX Mail to access GMail. My question is if the GMail mail will be downloaded locally to my machine or will it remain on the Google servers. I WANT it to remain on the servers, ie I only want to access my emails through Mail. Otherwise most of my HDD will fill up with email and also I will not be able to access my emails when I do not have my machine on hand. what happens when I delete an email in Mail? Will it also get deleted in GMail?

OS 10.5 and she suddenly lost the desktop. All blue. Classic comes up but can't be opened. She can access the web. But nothing else. She is most concerned about losing her files, not all of which were backed up.

iTunes 9.2.1 (4)
Factory refurbished model that I have been using now for about 10 days.
I got a new macbook pro. Now, I had been keeping my iTunes library on an external HD but I decided to migrate the library over to the new computers HD by hooking up the external, and using the Add To Library to import all my tunes. I have never purchased any music from the iTunes store, but I did have some free downloads from them. I went to get a free compilation from the iTunes store last night, and got this message. iTunes couldn't download your purchase. You don't have write access for your iTunes media folder or a folder within it. Change permissions (in the Finder) and then chose Store > Check for available downloads
Well, I did all this, made the permissions both Read and Write in all the folders associated with the iTunes library... and still no luck. I reset the path to the library in the iTunes preferences panel >advanced settings, and still no luck. I then decided to reauthorize the account, but got this message when I entered my iTunes password. There was an error storing your authorizations information on this computer. The required file was not found or has a permission error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or de authorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed.
Now, I have found tonnes of info about this (or similar) problems on the net, but no one seems to have posted a consistent fix. Proposed solutions vary from fixing the folder permissions in the Finder (which I have done 3 or 4 times now), to messing with the media library xml file, to dragging the whole library to the desk, restarting iTunes, then importing the original library back to the rebuilt iTunes folder. I imagine that if this is a DRM issue (which I suspect it is) then that last solution won't fix the problem either. Will doing an Archive and Reinstall solve the issue?
Can I just throw away all of the DRM tainted items and regain access to my iTunes library? How would I even identify which songs are even using DRM coding? I'm considering doing an Archive and Reinstall anyway, because this computer is acting a bit buggy. I'm not sure if this could be a hardware issue since this was a refurb model, but I haven't done all the hardware test from the OS disc yet, since I've been busy reinstalling software and libraries from my old computer.
When I try to print, the print dialog box tells me there is no printer selected, my lexmark is still listed under bonjour printers, but when I select it, it just hangs on the creating printer dialog box with a message adding printer. Indeed I need to force quit the application I am trying to print from.
If I then go into preferences, Print&Fax, there is no printer listed. If I select the + sign to add a printer, and try and add the listed lexmark, I get a server-error-service-unavailable error message.
To get my document printed I transferred to another wireless laptop (not a Mac) and printed using the same wireless network setip. So the basic netowrk seems to be working.
Since upgrading to Mac OS x 10.6, I have lost access to Device Manager for my HP printer. HP talked me through uninstalling software and re-installing new software, but the Device manager is missing. HP says it must be problem with my operating system.

I was wondering if I would be able to remote access my lost laptop if the administrator account has been deleted. Being absent minded I left my bag at the bus station and I figure who ever has found it is keeping it by now since I haven't gotten a phone call yet and it's been over a week.

I've just moved from Snow Leopard to Mavericks, and all the mailbox contents (that is, those in boxes in "On My Mac") have vanished. I've tried going to user/Library/Mail/subfolder1 as others have suggested, but I don't have Mail in this Library folder. How do I fix this, if possible, via Time Machine backups? Or any other way, for that matter. Â

Came in this AM to find power had been lost some time last night. After I booted up, I could not see anything in my Documents folder... I get a message "The folder 'Documents' can't be opened because you don't have permission to see the contents." Permissions seem to be fine:Â
flamingo:~ jnojr$ ls -lde Documents/
drwx------+ 54 jnojr staff 1836 Jun 24 15:34 Documents/
0: group:admin allow list
group:everyone deny list,delete...I also cannot see it in my Time Machine, even for older dates when everything was OK. I can see the contents with an account with sudo privileges. I verified and repaired permissions. I booted into safe mode and ran an fsck Googling led to several discussions where people were using different UIDs or had otherwise lost privileges, which does not appear to be the case here.

I've just upgraded from 10.6.8 to 10.9.3 and am very disappointed to see that everything in the sidebar is shown in shades of gray. I've used FolderBrander for many years to color code my finder folders and it was great that the folder colors also appeared in the sidebar in 10.6.8. I could group associated folders by color in the sidebar and that made for very rapid and accurate access deep into my folder architecture. I am mourning this lost functionality. how I could send this dissatisfaction along to Apple along with a request to restore colors to the sidebar?
