I've just bought an Imac 21.5inch, mid 2011 - Lion 10.7.3 (11D50) and the wireless connection keeps stopping either it shows it's connected or it's not connected at all. This happens every 30 mins or so, sometimes after 5 minutes or sometimes I can get away for a few hours. I'm using a Draytek router with 3 Wifi aeriels and in the house I have 2 mac minis, an ipad, iphone, android phone and a couple of other PCs, none of which have this problem. I've tried changing the router from G to N and also checked who else nearby is in the same wifi settings, I'm set to 6 others set to 1 or 12. So wouldn't think there is interference. I've only just bought this machine so wondering if it's a problem with Lion or the iMAC. Â

Got a Mac OS X Version 10.7.4 last week and first off it was fine the Internet connected perfectly and was the fastest connection I've seen. But this morning I came down and it connected for 5 minutes and then although it appeared to be working (The wifi bars were full) the internet wouldn't search for any sites. All the while my iPod and laptop still connected. I did a clean-up of the Mac but that didn't make a difference. It seems to be able to connect for that first 5 minutes every time I restart the computer, but you can't do anything in 5 minutes. I need to correct this, do you have any idea how?

did a quick search on Apple, and here but didn't turn up much of anything useful. I've got a friend with an iMac that won't boot up. Pressing the power button doesn't seem to do much of anything. I've tried unplugging the power cord, and re-plugging it, but alas, I got the fan to rev up for a second and then blahh, nothing again. It's a 20" model with the black bezel. Not entirely sure of the system specs, I only got a couple minutes with it last night. Do these machines have any common problems like this?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI recently replaced my internal hard drive in my 20" iMac and it worked beautifully for about a week. Then, suddenly it started making a horrible clicking noise upon startup or when waking up from sleep. It goes on for about 10 minutes and then eventually tapers off and quiets down. But it happens every time I start up the computer or when I wake it up after it's been asleep for a while.I don't seem to be having any other problems with the functionality of the computer.Everything is accessible and working OK on the computer.I am just worried because many years back when I had a PC the internal hard drive failed after I heard a similar clicking noise, although it's been going on for a few weeks on my Mac without worsening, and my PC hard drive failed within a couple of days of the start of the clicking.
Is it possible that this is a fan or some other internal mechanism that possibly got jarred or moved slightly when I replaced the hard drive?Or a bad hard drive?I don't really want to open up the computer all over again but at this point, I suppose I have to.I am just not sure what to look for when I do.urls...

Upon starting My Intel iMac, it stops at the Apple logo. I have restarted it several times and tried to hold down the "r" key while starting to enter the restore mode...nothing but the Apple logo. OSX 10.7.5
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a 2006 Intel Macbook with a crashed hard drive. I'm kinda broke right now, so instead of buying a new hard drive I loaded ubuntu 10.4 onto an external hard drive (USB) and tried to boot the macbook from it. (Failed). I hold down option to launch Startup Manager and all it shows me is a cursor (no drives). I know the external drive is bootable because I a) booted the laptop from a LiveCD and used it to create the hard drive and b) I booted a Dell from the external. I've tried moving the drive to a different USB port, but no chips. I don't have anything else connected to the computer.Â
my question is: Can I boot the macbook from the external hard drive if the internal hard drive is shot?

It's a 2.16 intel Core 2 duo with the ATI Radeon X1600 128MB video and I'm running OSX 10.7.3. It started happening on Snow leopard so I thought maybe upgrading to Lion would fix it but it has continued exactly the same. I've had an issue for a while now where the computer would just freeze all of a sudden. It happened after a few days at times while sometimes it happen right after a reboot. Â
Here are the things I've tried.Â
1. I upgraded to lion
2. I replaced the ram
3. Look at the crash log but found nothing
4. Ram mem check utility but it found nothingÂ
I can boot the computer in safe mode by holding the shift key and it works perfect with no freezing but I loose audio support becuase I think it's not loading the audio drivers. Question is: Can I select what drivers I want on boot when starting in regular mode not safe mode in order to try to disable drivers until I find the issue? Is there anyplace else that I can find which driver caused the computer to freeze after a freeze/crash? If I can ID the driver is there a way to update/replace the driver if it doesn't come up in "software update"? I'm thinking it's the video driver becuase I would occationally get some weird things happening on the screen that I attributed to an older display.Â

My 2014 21" iMac powers itself down after about 10 seconds while trying to startup in safe boot mode. I'm not even sure why it is trying to start in safe boot mode. I shut it down after a power outage while plugged into an APS UPS. I'm guessing that since I interrupted the auto shutdown it is restarting in safe boot mode. Either way, I get a grey screen with a big apple and a progress bar. The progress bar gets to about a tenth full and the power just shuts off.Â
I've tried starting up while holding the alt key to select the Macintosh HD. The same thing happens.

I'm running 10.6.2 and iTunes 9.0.2 and it keeps randomly stopping. its very annoying. I'll play a tune and then after a while it will just randomly stop as if I have hit the stop button. It seems to be random in that sometimes it'll take 10 seconds, another time it will play the song for a minute or so. When I opened iTunes earlier it played a song on its own accord too. Very strange. Anyone else experienced this? Possible causes? I have a bluetooth mouse connected which I thought might be malfunctioning but it happens when the cursor isn't over the play/stop button.

Some months back iTunes began launching itself whenever I booted my Mac, something it had never done previously. Initially I just disabled it by removing components from prefs or other locations in /Library or using AppDelete. Is there a way to stop the self-launching without removing components that only make it harder to use when it has to be reinstalled from scratch. I just want it to be a normal app I click on when "I" want it to open.

When my Mac boots it opens load of apps in my menu bar (InsomniaX, iAlertU, LogMeIn, EverNote) this is annoying, uses memory (probably) and it makes it look cluttered how do i stop them from loading.
I have checked the preferences in each app and there is nothing there and there is nothing in Login items in accounts in system prefs.
How do I stop the Address book from importing every contact I reply to? It's annoying, I'm trying to keep it clean so that it's only for my iPhone, but it insists on importing every contact every time I respond to an email. So I end up with a bunch of duplicates and junk in my book. I'm using Firefox and Gmail, but it seems to do it from whatever email program I'm using the time..
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently my Macbook OS X 10.5.6 has been making the wireless internet in my house stop working. It will happen randomly and I have to unplug my router and modem every time it happens. I know it has to do with the my mac because the other house desktop computers work fine when the mac isn't turned on and not connected to the internet. I've been finding a lot of people have been having the same kind of problem with airport.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an airport extreme with a 1TB seagate external connected to it. I watch videos on my macbook pro (late 2009 model) through the wireless. The video works fine and has no lag or freezes. But when I open safari and load up a site or use skype, while watching a video, it starts to freeze and lag a lot when a site is being loaded. Everything is fine when I hook up an Ethernet cable on my macbook.
Is there anyway to stop the lag on the video when im loading websites?
