Intel Mac :: Wireless Keeps Stopping Or Disconnecting (every 30 Mins)
Feb 13, 2012
I've just bought an Imac 21.5inch, mid 2011 - Lion 10.7.3 (11D50) and the wireless connection keeps stopping either it shows it's connected or it's not connected at all. This happens every 30 mins or so, sometimes after 5 minutes or sometimes I can get away for a few hours. I'm using a Draytek router with 3 Wifi aeriels and in the house I have 2 mac minis, an ipad, iphone, android phone and a couple of other PCs, none of which have this problem. I've tried changing the router from G to N and also checked who else nearby is in the same wifi settings, I'm set to 6 others set to 1 or 12. So wouldn't think there is interference. I've only just bought this machine so wondering if it's a problem with Lion or the iMAC. Â
I have a month old iMac 21.5" running Lion and a 17" Macbook Pro on SL From out of the box, I have had wifi issues with the iMac that have become worse since installing the wifi update last week. While my Macbook connects and stays connected with no issue, the iMac dropps the connection and looses all Access Points every 30 minutes to an hour. This is becoming a real head ache as I do allot of Facetime / Webnars.Â
Recently my Macbook OS X 10.5.6 has been making the wireless internet in my house stop working. It will happen randomly and I have to unplug my router and modem every time it happens. I know it has to do with the my mac because the other house desktop computers work fine when the mac isn't turned on and not connected to the internet. I've been finding a lot of people have been having the same kind of problem with airport.
I have 1.5 year old MacBook P ro with 10.6.4 OS. The AirPort disconnects several times in an hour and connects again automatically in around a miutes. This problem started happening a few days ago. When the macbook is disconnected, iPad that I have on the wireless can connect to internet.
My wireless keyboard and mouse have been working well for a year. Now, every 4-5 minutes it disconnects and a minute later reconnects without any action from me. I have installed new batteries.
I installed Windows 7 on iMac 20 inch. All went smoothly and after lot of trail and errors, was able to recognize my apple wireless keyboard and mouse. All well till here. Now the problem is that these two devices keeps disconnecting very very often. For mouse, atleast i can move around and after few clicks, it starts working, but keyboard just doesn't work at all. I have to switch off the keyboard and then switch it back on to get it working for few more minutes. Is there a way I can resolve this? I've installed Bluetooth drivers from bootcamp 2.1 update for vista.
I notice that every time I close the lid on my MBP the machine goes to sleep, and the wireless connection disconnects. Is there any way to stop this behaviour so I can say download large files and such even while the lid is closed?
I have a 2011 iMac 27 inch I purchased in around December. I have the most updated version of OS X Lion. My wifi connection to my router keeps dropping and losing connection. This does not happen to my other devices (MBP, iPhone, iPad). There was a fix for OSX Lion which worked for a bit but now it's happening again.
Got a Mac OS X Version 10.7.4 last week and first off it was fine the Internet connected perfectly and was the fastest connection I've seen. But this morning I came down and it connected for 5 minutes and then although it appeared to be working (The wifi bars were full) the internet wouldn't search for any sites. All the while my iPod and laptop still connected. I did a clean-up of the Mac but that didn't make a difference. It seems to be able to connect for that first 5 minutes every time I restart the computer, but you can't do anything in 5 minutes. I need to correct this, do you have any idea how?

Have an iMac running SL 10.6.8 and every few minutes my internet connection is interrupted. But airport shows connected to my network. I have to open network preferences and it shows airport connected but ISP and Internet will be yellow or red. Then I have to go to the Diagnostics button and Airport will be green. I then hit continue and wait for my network to show up in the list and then rejoin. Then I have internet for a bit until it happens again. All other computers and devices on this network are fine. Must have a corrupted file on this iMac.
I work wireless and I my IMac disconnects from the network several times in the day. It is pretty frustrating. My internet provider did every thing even changing the wires out side my house. The rather is located two matters from my computer. It is new as it is my IMac. I took my IMac to Futureshop and they said every thing is fine.
My 27" iMac keeps disconnecting from my WiFi using Time Capsule, where as all my other devices , Macbook Pro, iPads, iPhones and iPods all stay connected.
I have an iMac OS X 10.7.3 (purchased in late 2010) with all updates current. I use AirPort to connect to my Linksys router with a WPA2 password.
Nearly everytime I wake my computer from sleep, my wireless router is disconnected, even when I have set my settings and clicked on the lock to prevent further changes. My router always shows on the list of available connections with full strength, but it is more often than not extremely difficult to get it connected again. It says "Could not join "myRouter". A connection time out occured."Â I usually have to use the assistant and go through the steps, which usually includes re-typing my password four to five times before it agrees that I know my own password (which is fairly simple to type, I can't possibly be entering it incorrectly that many times).
I downloaded and installed an update [URL] that quote: "resolves an issue that may cause an iMac to not automatically connect to a known Wi-Fi network after waking from sleep. It is recommended for all iMac (Late 2009 or newer) users running 10.7.3." Â
I tried setting a new location, and set the DHCP setting under TCP/IP to be manual. I was successful in connecting to the internet that time, and locked the settings to prevent further changes, yet the first time my computer woke from a sleep, the lock was unchecked and the settings were changed back to automatic. And I was disconnected yet again.Â
This has been going on for months, but in the last couple weeks I have found I am now unable to lock the lock to prevent changes, no matter if my Location is set to automatic or one that I have created. Really looking for resolution as this is wasting so much time, I am on and off the computer multiple times a day.Â
I am Running a 2.8Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo 24" iMac running Mac OS X 10.7.3. I run time machine to backup to an external Seagate 3TB, FreeAgent GoFlex Desk, FireWire Drive. When the Mac goes into sleep mode, the Seagate drive un-mounts. When the Mac wakes up, I get an error that the drive was not properly disconnected and the drive is no longer mounted. The only way I can get the drive to remount, is to remove power from the drive for several seconds and then reconnect it.
I have changed both sets of batteries. Turned them off and back on multiple times. Only reason I am able to ask this question is because I'm using my phone. I need my computer back. No I don't have a wired mouse or keyboard laying around. The mouse isn't registering or moving on the screen. The keyboard was working until I tried turning it off and back on. Now nothing is working.
My iMac G5 desktop will go to sleep after I use it for about 20mn or so. I Can wake it but it will go to sleep faster and faster until I just give up. Then if a let it rest for a while I can come back and use it for another 20 mn or so before it start. Going to sleep again. Could it be heating up and my fan is broken?
Recently my iMac has been booting really slow and I've run out of ideas to fix it. So far I've used Onyx to tune everything up, repaired permissions, repaired disk using the disk utility (no errors came up), and I've cleared PRAM. I have XP as a partition using Boot Camp. Its starting to get really annoying.
My new (to me) G4 runs fine (OS 10.5.5) except that after about 45 minutes, it just quits and returns to the login screen. I first noticed this as I was attempting to update software. Download proceeded, and after about 45, back to login. Sitting, running unattended, with all power save options set to "never" it does the same thing.
Recently my macbook (running snow leopard) has started disconnecting from wifi after about half an hour, this is getting really frustrating, how can i stop it?
After chatting on FaceTime on my MacBook pro for approximately 5-7 minutes, the other person cannot hear me. I went to Apple and they said it may be the actually mic/camera connection and would have to replace it. I can't lose a week without my MacBook!
I have a issue where I get the spinning beach ball of death and it lasts for about 20-30 secs, but I get this every 4-5 mins..I have used CleanMyMac to remove all the crap and run all the cleaning and maintence tasks on Onyx to clear the computer up; to be fair it is kept very clean most of the time anyway.I have checked the hard drive and corrected all permissions as well as verifying the drive itself.I have run a Memtest 2 pass on the RAM and had no errors. Both of these were done in single user mode from boot using the Terminal.I am running a 2009 Mac Mini with a 2.6 Core2Duo, 6Ghz RAM, 160GB SSD drive. It is plugged in via the mini display port to an HD Tv and connected through the optical port to an amp for audio. I am using the wireless bluetooth Mac keyboard and Magic Mouse.
The problem is, each time I restart my computer or put it back on again, it takes around 20 mins to start up. At the grey screen there is a grey bar that takes 20 mins to load.
I live in japan if it makes a difference, but download through US iTunes. Starting tonight, my subscribed tv shows are downloading extremely slow. the time is jumping around crazy from ETA 2 minutes to 203hours. Rented a movie on ATV and there was no lag. Not sure what is going on.
My computer displays grey screen and apple logo for 10 minutes or more during start up and shut down. Sometimes it refuses to shut down. This issues started after installing OS lion. What do I do?
