I have a Intel core 2 Duo 2.8 Ghz, 4 GB Ram MacBook Pro running Mac Os X 10.5.8 and just last night I went to hit 'Shift' to make 'c' a capital letter but it didn't do anything; just made a noise. And I tried 'Shift' on all the other keys and it worked perfectly... anyone know what's going on?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI started having an issue with my iMac typing in the letter 'V' in any field, whether in a browser or in a window even after I've unplugged the keyboard. I've tried restarting several times, but it's getting worse to the point that I can't even type my password in b/c strings of the letter 'V' keep erroring out each field. The letter 'V' isn't stuck in the keyboard, my keyboard doesn't need to be cleaned, I've run a disk repair and no errors are coming up. I had to type this from a different computer otherwise the entire message would have had "v's" typed throughout!

My two-year-old daughter was messing with the keyboard on my iMac, and now the keys on the keyboard are not functioning as they were before. The delete key doesn't work, "a" types a symbol-topped "a" followed by the copyright symbol, etc...
I've restores the factory settings to the function keys in system preferences, but the problem persists.

My supervisor wrote me a last minute letter of recommendation and emailed it late last night. I would like to bring this letter in today at 11am... 2hours. I cant open it. I even downloaded a pages converter that I found but it only works with Mac. Is there anyway someone can read this in time and send me a document that I am able to print out on my pc?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a set of split files with letter extensions. They are named <filename>.iso.__a, <filename>.iso.__b, and so on. Additionally they continue on to <filename>.iso._aa to <filename>.iso._as. This further confuses me because a Mac will list the <filename>.iso.__a first but a PC will put the <filename>.iso._aa first so I am unsure which is the initial file. I haven't found software that will join them properly. Split and Concat stalls out at 4kb. MacHacha makes a full sized file but it won't mount. Stuffitexpander won't even try, and Ajoiner shades out all the files as they don't end in numbers. I also tried renaming all the files with numbers but this too failed.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn classic, Page Set-up (Laserwriter 8) no longer shows "Letter" or "Legal" sizes. Instead, it shows "na-letter" and "na-legal" and when I select either and print, my printer informs me that paper size "A4" is selected, and, of course, the margins of the printed document are all messed up. Also, my printer stops at each page and asks me to check the paper size. I'm guessing "na" is for "not applicable." Everything worked fine until I installed the 4.4.11 Combo update back in April. I had 10.4.x before that. The Laserwriter 8 Page Set-up dialog box is different than it was prior to the update (although it is a version that's familiar to me from years ago). I've tried deleting the new driver and installing an older Laserwriter driver from another Mac on which I had not run the combo update. Although doing this makes printing fail completely, in the Print Dialog box I do actually see the version of it I remember, and I CAN select "Letter" and "Legal" (and there's no "na-letter" or "na-legal").
If I restart my Mac, it tells me that it needs to update the driver and does so, and then I'm back to "na-letter" and "na-legal" and a different Print Dialog box. I'm printing on an Epson Aculaser CX11NF. Again, it used to work just fine and nothing I know of changed besides the Combo update. Non-Classic printing usually works fine, but sometimes my printer thinks that a document is "A4" when it isn't. Since I end up changing the paper size directly on the printer's front panel (to avoid it stopping with each print and asking me to check the paper size because I don;t have A4 loaded), I'm guessing that this is my fault. Sometimes when printing from iPhoto from another Mac on my network, iPhoto automatically selects A4 instead of letter even though Letter is the default paper size for that Mac. The application is MYOB Accounting Plus. I've had to change the formating of my checks and reports, and I can no longer print on the top inch-and-a-half of the page. I have re-installed the system, the Epson software, and anything else I could think of.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy computer began to get some strange errors - It is my MacBook Pro Retina 15" Mid-2012.My keyboard can't write the letters "B" and the danish letter "Å", it the same for both small and capital letter (B/b and Å/å).
But even though my keyboard won't write the two letters, it will still register the key is beefing push.when I sits and write this, it will change the text to bold - like turning the bold format on/off each time I push the B key. The same happens when I just push the left command key, so I can turn the bold text format on/off with my left command key. The right command key can't turn the bold format on/off, either only or with the "right cmd+b" - which for this forum should be the original short cut.
Both of my command keys denies to accept some shortcut like "cmd+t" in Safari to make a new tab. But the "cmd+n" works fine. I have no problem with writing the letter "t" or the "n" in the url address line. What I have tried so far without any result:- Resetting of the system management controller (SMC)
- Updated to Yosemite so I now have OS X 10.10.1
- Of course tried to restart.
- Seen my language hasn't been changed from Danish.

I tried several keyboard and the letter H lower case does not work but upper case H works. The repair shop cannot find the problem. View 5 Replies View RelatedI've seen threads for crooked keys before, but thats not necessarily my problem. It is related, right below the letter "E" you can very easily see the LED that lights the letter up. Its really annoying and is the only letter that has this problem. Is there someone to pull off the key and re-adjust it? Or should I just take it to the Apple store and explain it to them?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm having the same problem in ALL my typing: when I hold down the shift key for multiple letters, only the first is capitalized; the rest come out lower case. This is not a replacement behavior: I don't see the Uppercase letter get replaced by the lowercase one; only the first is uppercase. Is there some new text replacement routine? Can this be customized? I can't stand having to release the shift key between letters or to have to shift-lock, shift unlock.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to print out a single letter on one page for a banner I am making for my daughters school leavers party. However, if you make the font size too big it slips onto a second page and it will only fill half a page at its largest. For example, I want the letter 'S' to fill a whole A4 page then the letter 'T' then 'B' etc. I will then print then out and stick them on the banner.
