When I open address book on my mac, all of my contacts are on iCloud. When I change a photo for one of my contacts and add an effect to it, the effect lasts for about three seconds and goes back to the original. I'm assuming that a sync with iCloud is occurring and the image modifications are lost since when I turn my wifi off, the effects remain. However, when I turn my wifi back on, the effects disappear and I am left with the orginal. I tried running the app in 32-bit mode with no such luck.

Finally installed OS 10.7 yesterday and (not to be a stick in the mud but) now have it working pretty much like classic Snow Leopard, yay. Why is it that Address Book keeps getting worse instead of better with each new OS X? how to show the letter tabs so I can quickly go to the name I am looking for.Â

Is this possible? I've created some contacts in Adress Book on my Mac (yes, under the "iCLoud" header), and they don't show on the iCloud website. If it's a one-way path from iCloud to Adress Book, then I guess that for anyone using iCloud for contacts, it renders Adress Book useless, doesn't it?Â
Btw, somehow the newly created contacts just vanished, so unless you good people provide me with a solution, I just won't use Adress Book again, because that was at least 30 minutes of my life straight to the trash bin.

I'm tediously working through my address book and getting rid of duplicates and merging. One of the weird things is that there is now a # category at the end of the alphabet. Why are certain contacts listed there and not alphabetized? How do I get them up to the alphabetized part? I can't tell which device they came from.Â

I was hoping to export an archive of Address Book which is running on my 10.6 server so that I could import it to iCloud's address book.Â
How can I do this? I can't see any functionality to import in iClouds's Address Book.Â
Do I have to have all of these server contacts "On My Mac" before iCloud will play ball?Â

In iMac Prefs>Mail, Contacts & Cal, I have setup up and started an iCloud account. I make changes to my Address book and it is not syncing with my iPhone 4s, which also has iCloud syncing turned on. I know other pieces of iCloud work, as my emails do come across on both systems.

I use iCloud for my iphone 4, ipad 2, and MacBook Pro, all synced wirelessly via iTunes. However I can't get Address Book on the MacBook to update via iCloud. I've tried everything I can think of including deleting all entries and starting again, deleting the icloud account in preferences, ticking and unticking the enable box beside it, ticking and unticking the icloud box for contacts in system preferences (removing all entries at the same time).
I've selected the icloud account as the address book but it's still not seeing the contacts entries that I can see with my own eyes on the icloud website. It's never worked but I've turned a blind eye to it, since having got over the multiple entries and lost diaries fiasco when I first started to use it I've chosen to ignore the next problem.

Since setting up iCloud, all my contacts from Address Book are on iCloud.Fine Then I want to erase my contacts on my iPhone to replace them with my clean contacts in Address Book.To do so, I do a usual (Info tab of iTunes sync settings, check to Sync Contacts with Address Book, then further down under Advanced ... Replace information on this phone check Contacts, then sync your phone.Only problem is after Sync, my Contacts in iPhone are… void. Nada.So I go xcheck into Address Book Preferences and uncheck Account > iCloud. When doing this, I see that my Address Book on my iMac is… empty. So I do an Import of my Address Book Archive which is on my iMac. Import goes fine. Check again in Address Book after unchecking iCloud : empty. This is resembling Microsoft…

My Address Book hasn't been syncing on MobileMe for almost two years. MobileMe tech support and even the engineers have tried and failed. Needless to say, it's a bit out of date on my iPhone. Whenever I notice that there's old contact info on my phone, I change it. But it's by no means as current as the Address Book on my MacBook Pro. What is going to happen on iCloud if gets two versions of my Address Book? Will it know which contacts are more current and update or will I have a giant mess on my hands? Is there anyway to have iCloud access only my laptop Address Book? I was hoping to migrate today or tomorrow.Â

Using a G4 IBOOK with OS 10.5.8. Recently converted IBOOK from just my wifes computer to both of us so it is now dual usuage with both of us signing in to our respective files/e-mail, etc. My side has a problem never experienced before. My apple mail system address book has all the names the dock address book does but is missing almost 2/3rd of the actual e-mail addressess. I have tried to redo the dock address book in hopes it would change the "internal" mail book, but to no avail. It id difficult to add a recipient to an outgoing e-mail via the dock address instead of the apple mail address book.

Mountain Lion won't run on my Intel-graphics dual core white MacBook. Lion should run, but I've been disappointed with Lion and it is now end-of-life (mercifully short). So I've a perfectly fine and responsive Snow Leopard machine. Only problem -- when MobileMe dies in June Address Book on that device won't sync with our iPhone [1].Â
I know Apple doesn't allow 3rd parties to sync anything to iCloud. So there's no solution that way. One approach is to use a 3rd party app to sync Address Book on this machine with Address Book on another machine that in turn syncs with iCloud.Â
The easier approach is to go all Google; sync Address Book to Google, set the iPhone to use a Google Apps account. (Ironic that Apple's obsoleting a solid MacBook should drive us to Google.)Â [1] For various reasons the iPhone syncs to another machine with our family app/media library. So I can't sync Address Book via iTunes.

I have OS 10.7 (latest version) installed on a MacBook Pro, and iOS5 on my iPhone. I recently migrated to iCloud from MobileMe. Â However, my company still uses OS 10.6.8.Â
How can I get my Address Book on my work Mac, running OS 10.6.8 to sync with my iCloud account?Â
How do I set up the iCloud account in my address book? Where is the Contacts server?Â
And please don't tell me to upgrade to 10.7. That's not an option.
