MacBook Pro :: Keyboard Can't Write Letter B

Dec 9, 2014

My computer began to get some strange errors - It is my MacBook Pro Retina 15" Mid-2012.My keyboard can't write the letters "B" and the danish letter "Å", it the same for both small and capital letter (B/b and Å/å).

But even though my keyboard won't write the two letters, it will still register the key is beefing push.when I sits and write this, it will change the text to bold - like turning the bold format on/off each time I push the B key. The same happens when I just push the left command key, so I can turn the bold text format on/off with my left command key. The right command key can't turn the bold format on/off, either only or with the "right cmd+b" - which for this forum should be the original short cut.

Both of my command keys denies to accept some shortcut like "cmd+t" in Safari to make a new tab. But the "cmd+n" works fine. I have no problem with writing the letter "t" or the "n" in the url address line. What I have tried so far without any result:- Resetting of the system management controller (SMC)

- Updated to Yosemite so I now have OS X 10.10.1

- Of course tried to restart.

- Seen my language hasn't been changed from Danish.

Intel Mac :: It Keeps Typing Letter 'V' Even When Keyboard Is Unplugged

Jun 16, 2012

I started having an issue with my iMac typing in the letter 'V' in any field, whether in a browser or in a window even after I've unplugged the keyboard. I've tried restarting several times, but it's getting worse to the point that I can't even type my password in b/c strings of the letter 'V' keep erroring out each field. The letter 'V' isn't stuck in the keyboard, my keyboard doesn't need to be cleaned, I've run a disk repair and no errors are coming up. I had to type this from a different computer otherwise the entire message would have had "v's" typed throughout!

ICloud :: Moving Mail Boxes From Mail To IMAP Server Error NUL Character In Message

Mar 18, 2012

I am migrating my mail and archive folders from Mail to iCloud.  I moved 20+ folders and over 8k messages with no problem by dragging and dropping the folder from 'On my mac' section to 'iCloud' section in Mail.  The last two folders were the largest with over 1.5k in each folder.  Over 1200 of the messages in each went in to iCloud without a hitch. Then I got this error:

The IMAP command “APPEND” (to [mail box name]) failed with server error: Message contains NUL characters.

There are 149 messages left in one folder and 203 in another folder.  Try as I might, it will not work.  I tried Rebuild mailbox option in menu and exported to Mail and mbox format and then re-importing.  Still does not work.

MacBook Air :: Enter The ~ Character From The Wireless Keyboard?

Mar 2, 2012

I'm working on a MacBook Air (late 2011 model), along with the Apple Wireless keyboard. The keyboard is a physical AZERTY (French) layout, but I change the mapping to US using the system preferences.  I work in the Terminal a lot, and I can't find the tilde (~) key. When I type where it would be on a US QWERTY layout, the output is the plus-minus (±) sign. When I type Option+N, I get the tilde accent character (˜). Terminal does not interpret the ~ and ˜characters the same.  My question: How can I enter the ~ character from the wireless keyboard? Currently, I reach up to the Air's integrated keyboard and type it there.

OS X :: Character Too Close In Mail - Small Text

Feb 2, 2010

I just set up a RAID 0 with two Velociraptors in my G5. I cloned my main drive onto the new RAID drive but it would not boot so I reinstalled OS X from the recovery DVD and it fixed the problem. However, now I am getting these really weird character issues in certain programs. Characters in my Mail e-mails are kerned WAY too close and the text is abnormally small (see photos below). I also noticed the same problem on one of my Yahoo widgets. Haven't found the problem in any other applications yet. Does anyone know what the source of the problem is and how I can fix it? It's obviously pretty important that I am able to read my e-mails.

MacBook Air :: Letter Wearing Through - Get Just "A" / Replace Full Keyboard?

Nov 27, 2009

I have had my MacBook Air for about 18 months. I've been using Macs since 1988 and absolutely love this machine. In the last two years I have used it for the usual stuff, surfing the Net, e-mailing, doing research, blogging, but most of all I have used it to write four novels, each about 400 pages in length. I use my machine at least five hours a day, sometimes sixteen to eighteen hours. This last week the surface of the "A" key has worn through under the cross stroke, showing some white. I'm not in any kind of panic about it. Certainly I have pushed on this key enough to warrant some wear. My question: If I want to replace this key, will I be able to get just the "A" or will I have to have the entire keyboard replaced?

OS X :: Keyboard Won't Type Correctly?

Oct 11, 2010

I'm posting from my iPhone right now, as my problem isn't even letting me log in to my user. I'm using Mac version 10.5.8.

When I was on the computer, it had a spasm that came out of nowhere. When I would use the scroll wheel, the screen would zoom in and out, I was only able to right click, and various keys would bring up that dull tone if I pressed them. I restarted the computer, as it is the solutions to most problems, only to not be able to log in. The only way I could type anything is my holding the option key and typing letters, pressing the return key (the return key came as a character), or pressing q and typing. I have no idea what each thing does.

All letters are unresponsive, however I am still able to navigate spaces using cmd-1,2,3,4 etc., and the caps lock button will turn on, however I can't type anything. The only way to resolve it is by putting the macbook to sleep and then waking it.
