OS X V10.7 Lion :: How To Prepare For Fresh Install
Jun 8, 2012I am about 2 years into my move back to mac with a small professional office and I am considering a fresh install of Lion from Snow Leopard on the Mac Pro (1st generation) and a 2009/10 MacBookPro. I believe the Mac Pro shipped with Leopard and the MacBookPro shipped with Snow Leopard but not sure if I am off by an OS release on that. In any event, it has been a /ton/ of effort in customizing this setup and it includes an install of Mac Drive, Parallels and other software and software settings.
I have also edited the registry on windows in a couple of instances and I have run a couple of Terminal customizations on the mac side. Two questions. What should I do to prepare for a fresh install and how much time might be involved in redoing my setup? Is it worth all the effort? I mean, I /do/ have a 2 TB hard drive to take the place of my existing 1 TB drive and I could use the extra space. But at the same time I wonder if a fresh install is necessary.

When I start it up I hear the bong and see the symbol spinning then the screen goes black from right to left the computer is running but I can't use it. I assume it's the graphic card. Can I use this iMac as an extra monitor to my other iMac.?

May 27, 2012When i play battlefield 3 in WINDOWS 7 on my brand new iMac 27" i 7, after some time the computer gets EXTREMLY hot and graphics start to freeze. Im 100% sure its the graphic card/ processor who gets to warm. It sounds like the fans runs on full power to. (it only happens in windows)Â

I have read online on how to effectively ground myself, using anti static wrist bands, etc. But they all point to building a desktop computer. Is there a piece of metal where the wrist band wires can attach to in the macbook pro? Would doing the procedure on cardboard or floor tiles work?

Dec 1, 2014My Mac Book Pro doesn't start. when I press the start button It chimes, apple logo, line loading and turns off. Once and again. I tried the Comand-option-P-R and nothing. Tried a lot of tricks I found online and nothing. Finally -And Im not sure how, I think it was the Comand-R opened the Disk Utility and could hit the repair the disk, It said that It couldn't repair -I have almost full capacity 499GB used- but cant remove files since I cant start the computer. Disk Utility told me to Back up Files and Restore -meaning it will wipe out the data, but i will have it on my back up- How do I back up using external hard drive.

Is there a Mac utility where I can right-click and move to configurable folders? It looks like the only "folder" by default is the Trash ("Move to Trash"). I know there's the left-hand collapsible pane with Places, but I don't want to clutter it up with too many folders that I could neatly tuck into a contextual menu.
