Haven't heard back from Seagate to see if my drive and firmware is bad, but since I just bought the drive, I'm thinking of returning it.I'm in the middle of a 7 Pass Secure erase on it (1TB). Do people feel comfortable returning a drive after doing that erase? Or should I just forget about it and destroy the drive and chalk it up to a loss?

It's probably old news for anyone who did any research on finding this type of software but this is my first time researching the matter and coming across this.
The problem is that this software is PC only it seems. I was wondering if there is an equivalent software that could do just the same for my Mac.
Or can this software already run on Mac considering that Mac is now intel based and can run Windows in bootcamp?
The website says that I could remove my HD and place it into a PC system, but I don't have a PC system so that's not an option for me.
MacBook Pro :: Disk Errors Reappear Within Day After Repair-Hard Drive Dead?
Mar 6, 2012Over the last few weeks, I have been experiencing crashes on my Macbook Pro. The crash would appear as such: I'll be using Chrome and all of a sudden pages won't load. The mouse continues to work, but if I navigate to the desktop, folder won't open. Then, if I try to quit programs, the dock either becomes unresponsive or programs will only quit if "forced quit." Then the beachball of death appears. The beachball of death will continue for a very long time—perhasp indefinitely, so I decide to manually power down the computer.
I have tried to verify the hard drive in Disk Utility, and a few times I have gotten this error: Volume bitmap needs minor repair for orphaned blocksChecking volume information.Invalid volume free block count(It should be 46122698 instead of 42839276)The volume Macintosh HD was found corrupt and needs to be repaired.Error: This disk needs to be repaired using the Recovery HD. Restart your computer, holding down the Command key and the R key until you see the Apple logo. When the Mac OS X Utilities window appears, choose Disk Utility. So I restart from the system (command-R) and repair the disk. But now within a day or two I get the same error. Does my hard drive need to be replaced? Am I on borrowed time? My computer is under warranty. Do you think Apple will replace the hard drive?

PowerPC :: Hard Drive Not Working / Repair Volume Failed Could Not Unmount Disk
Jul 17, 2009So so annoyed right now. Today my 12" G4 powerbook started to become slow, lots of spinning wheel, delayed menus etc. I checked file permissions, rebooted and it just kept on getting slower. Eventually it wouldn't get past the white apple screen.
I booted off the Tiger DVD and ran disk utility to fix and repair permissions again. It wouldn't let me repair the disk as I kept getting this error:
'Repair volume failed with error could not unmount disk'
I had to reboot again, and eventually my hard disk no longer appears in Disk Utility. I tried to boot into safe mode and get this:

So now I pretty much can't do anything with it. Failed Hard Drive?

I have an iMac now, but I had a iBook before that and the way I backed up my iBook was by dragging my Volumes folder into an external hard drive. I have folders inside of folder for days. I have my ibook backed up several times that way.
What I would love is a program that did the following
1.) Delete duplicates of everything.
2.) Put all file types into a single file extension folder (put all .doc in a folder called DOCs and all pdfs in a PDF folder, etc.etc.).

Dec 31, 2010Hi, so I've been using Blender off and on for about a year and a half and I was thinking about buying a different program. I'd like to keep it under $200 but if its a little over that fine. I was thinking about Silo but I don't really like not having the ability to extrude single vertices and subdivide objects like in Blender. I can see the hard drive in the disk utilities window however it wont let me do anything.It is a seagate 1TB SATA II drive however it is displaying it as a 7.3 TB.I have tried to erase and partition and get the same error message each time, 'Input/Output error'.

Software :: Good Image Resizing Program For Web Images?
Jul 18, 2008I recently put up an e-commerce site and as part of entering products I can input images in 3 sizes.
1. 100 x 80 which is used for photos put on the main page of the website to be clicked on for further information
2. 200 x 250 to be used for the image in the actual product description
3. 300 x 400 to be used as a larger photo as a pop-up picture if someone wants to see a larger picture.
The pictures can vary in size but unless the variation is small the pictures will all very in size on the main page of my website which will give it a bad appearance.
Unfortunately when I get stock photos many vary in size. I want to know if there's an easy way to resize pictures. The only concerns I have is that making them larger may make them appear stretched or making them smaller may give the opposite appearance. Also, since I am doing this to many pictures I want a solution that is quick and easy, maybe as simple as taking a picture, choosing a new size, and saving it with the change.
I currently have the Adobe Creative Suite 3 with PhotoShop, Illustrator, and Fireworks but am not sure if this does it in an easy way and of course I prefer to use Mac over Windows
