Sometimes when I my computer shuts down unexpectedly, then I start up again, all the programs I had open previously open again automatically. How do I set my prefs so it won't do that?

I am having problems with programs automatically shutting down when I try to open them. The problems are with ITunes and Skype. I know that Skype is an internet program, and this might be a problem, but I never had this happen before... EVER. iTunes only starts up half way, then it brings up an error box.
I had no problems until I updated in Feburary. Can I uninstall the last update and restore to the old one?

I have had nothing but problems since I upgraded to Yosemite. My graphics programs crash and run impossibly slow. I have to restart constantly to clear maxed out memory. My internet speed drags to a crawl, and I constantly have to repair permissions to open files THAT I CREATED. I can't open file attachments from Outlook either (I will NOT use Apple Mail - my clients use Outlook, so I have to as well).

I recently purchased a 30" apple monitor to be used in tandem with my 23" cinema monitor. The card that was shipped with my G5 twin 2.5 GZ will not support the 30" as it lacks dual link dvi. Hence the 9600 pro for Mac & PC card. The problem is this...The screens light up at start up but the computer crashes before the boot sequence completes. I took the card to the apple service center where I bought it and it worked fine on both their G4 and G5 machines running Tiger. I cant make it work on mine in Tiger or Leopard.

Alright so I get to class, open up my 2010 Macbook Pro 15'(fully loaded). I close VLC to save on battery life and then I end up with the screen in the pictures below. I forced restart, and same problem. My guess is that when I closed VLC it turned back to the Integrated Video Card. Now I can't start the computer. What does everyone think? Is it possible to start my mac and have it go the screen where I can pick either mac or windows for it to start in? I know I can default to one or the other and I know I can hit the option key when starting and get it to the choice screen - I was just hoping I could start the mac and have it go to the choice screen and then I have the option of choosing which op sys I need.

I am getting a little frustrated. Everytime I start my computer Word, Excel and other programs open. I have tried the following which hasn't helped.Â
1. I went into system preferences into User/Groups, logins and deleted all items. Â
2. Hovered over the word in the menu bar at the bottom of the screen, clicked options, unchecked open at login. (I have been closing down the application before loging off) Â Â
Other than that I am not sure how to stop these from opening.

I have a 2011 iMac running Lion. I have a USB harddrive connected which stores digial versions of all my DVDs so that I can stream them to my AppleTV. Has no issues with it before now. A moment ago my Mac crashed and had to be restarted by holding down the button at the back (first time ever!!). When i turned the thing back on, the drive didn't mount so I went into disk utility and repaired the drive which resulted in it mounting. Â

The intern disk had to be replaced and they told me that they can't recover the date ( not in theyr shop)
How works the data recovery once the disk is out of the computer ? Is there necessarily a "white room" process wich is very expensive ?

Our 2011 iMac with SSD takes 2:15 (two minutes and fifteen seconds) to start up. Start up on a SSD should be faster. OS X version 10.7.4 and applications are on the SSD. Any suggestions for correcting this lack of speedy start up?

Just after my warranty expired I developed what I suspect will be an expensive problem. Upon awakening from sleep my computer cannot recognize the internal HD. I total freeze. If I power down & reboot everything works. If I boot the computer from an external HD clone of my internal HD a can put the computer to sleep and wake up without a problem EXCEPT:When I do this the computer removes the internal HD icon from the desktop and Iget a dialog box informing me that the internal HD was improperly disconnected.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac that is now close to two years that I have been a little unlucky with. Two times the harddrive has crashed and had to be replaced. Last time I managed (learned from experience) to make a TimeMachine back-up. I can see on the external drive that 160gb are in use but I am unable to gain access to the files. The main thing is a lot of pictures that i would really like to recover. It is now about 4 months ago this happened so new pictures have been uploaded in the meantime.
