OS X V10.7 Lion :: Listed Two Programs For Automatic Log On When Start Computer?
Apr 27, 2012
I recently loaded Lion on my Imac. I have listed two programs for automatic log-on. But 3 other apps automatically log-on as well (Firefox, Mail, Word), even though they are not on the auto log-on list at all. How do I preven them from logging on when I start the computer?
How do I start iMac in a basic mode with no extensions or startup programs. I had it freeze when " Little Stitch" started to run and asked to open a Port. Then freeze.
If a want to download a file with safari or firefox on my macbook, then I have to click on the link with my "right mouse button" and click on "download linked file" to download the file.
Normally I had to click on the link and the download started automaticaly.
A couple of nights ago I set my iMac G3 (Blueberry) to stop automatic login at start up and put it to sleep. I did this because I didn't want my kids on the web in the middle of the night while I was sleeping. When morning comes, the computer is off. I try to start it but it won't turn over. When I push the on button, the button flashes on for a split second and I hear the crackle of static as if the computer is starting, but nothing happens after that. I tried plugging and unplugging the computer, but nothing helps.
It does not register when new programs are opened. They open, but there is no indicator light under them. Programs that are not open anymore still have an indicator light. Also, I don't have any notifications for email or other messaging programs even though I do have new emails and messages.
I have a macbook pro. is there a way that I can have a password automatically turn on when I close my screen and it goes to sleep? Without having to lock it before I close it.
Bought a new iMac in January, have a problem with the screen saver not coming on automatically after working okay for maybe three or four days. Have had about six calls and spent many hours with Apple techs. We get things working and then after a few days the hot corners won't hold, the screen saver won't come on automatically and the computer doesn't go to sleep as set up. If I manually put it to sleep it doesn't stay asleep for very long. Shutting down or a safe boot, will make it work right again.

I have suddenly had constant lockup trouble with my 13"MBP under Lion (latest version 10.x). So I did a complete re-install, including using Disk Utility to erase HD, then Lion. I have complete Time Machine Backups, however Lion will NOT list my TM external HD when migrating my data (both at initial startup and using the utility)! Why not? It is CLEARLY listed on my desktop, so I know it's mounted. I don't have to re-install every program, and info manually?Â
I have finally upgraded to BT fibre optics. But it means the ethernet printer I have needs to be set up again using a new IP address. When I go to add printer > IP > IPP > using 192.168.1.10 everything seems ok.... Except I get Print Using > Generic Postscript Printer. When I go to Print Using > Select Printer Software.... All I get is a dialog with no printer software listed. In ~ Library/Printers/ there are lots of printer folders. Why isn't Lion software finding my printer software?

I recently bought a macbook pro and need to run some windows programs for work. Is it possible to start my mac and have it go the screen where I can pick either mac or windows for it to start in? I know I can default to one or the other and I know I can hit the option key when starting and get it to the choice screen - I was just hoping I could start the mac and have it go to the choice screen and then I have the option of choosing which op sys I need.
Sometimes when I my computer shuts down unexpectedly, then I start up again, all the programs I had open previously open again automatically. How do I set my prefs so it won't do that?
after logging in i can't open any programs, when i click on somthing it acts like its going to load but never does, a couple of times it ask me to power off and then turn it back on with the same results.
When I try to install Apple Remote Desktop, I get a message that says a more current version is already installed. I look in Applications and see no reference to Remote Desktop. Â
1) Does Max OS X Lion 10.7.3 come with Remote Desktop installed, as some documentation suggests?
I'm trying to remote from macBook Pro to a windows server via ip address
When I have an item listed in a Spotlight search that is in a folder I'm actually looking for, how do I figure out where the folder is located? I often remember a document or app and want to add something to the same folder, but can't find it-- Spotlight does not give the path that I can see.Â
I am getting a little frustrated. Everytime I start my computer Word, Excel and other programs open. I have tried the following which hasn't helped.Â
1. I went into system preferences into User/Groups, logins and deleted all items. Â
2. Hovered over the word in the menu bar at the bottom of the screen, clicked options, unchecked open at login. (I have been closing down the application before loging off) Â Â
Other than that I am not sure how to stop these from opening.
How do I turn off programs that automatically start up when I turn on the computer? I want to improve the processing speed of my system and I'm pretty sure programs running in the background are slowing me down.
I have bought the new Macbook Pro and I want to move my programs from my old mac to my new one. How do I do this without damaging the files? Do I have to include a lot of trash files or can I just move the .app file over? I?m using Logic, can you move project files only without moving the program?
When I start my computer up, programs such as excel, word and powerpoint and calender will open up automatically. One day it will open up powerpoint and excel and other days just word and excel, its very random. I tried to find the setting to stop this and cannot
I went into system preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver > Screen Saver. And then I changed the "Start Screen Saver" option to never, but it said for the others after 10min " Your computer will sleep before your screen saver activates. So will my computer stop downloading a file from the internet if i just leave my computer on over night? How do i change my signature?
I purchased my first Mac ever, the iMac with 3.06ghz, 8GB and 1T.
I LOVE THIS iMac.
Now, I got this iMac to use Protools with plugins. Now I'm only using 3 tracks with virtual instruments and is already asking me to increase CPU usage or remove RTAS(virtual instruments).
Is there a way to chip off CPU usage from other programs that the computer may be using? Anyone has solution except removing some virtual instruments, I mean I got this iMac to work with music.
When I start my iMac, a few programs start along with the computer. I don't want any programs starting by default. I have reviewed the Preferences of these programs, and see nothing to uncheck regarding auto startup. And I don't see anything related to this in System Preferences. How I can start the computer without programs starting with it?
I've been trying to find out how to access google talk/msn/aim on my office computer that has those main websites blocked including [URL]Anybody else have any good suggestions that will allow me to bypass and is pretty secure?
Is it possible to move my files and programs that I have backed up on a Time Capsule to my computer without having to restore from a backup?
I had to get my hard drive replaced on my Macbook (running OS 10.5.7) but on all of my backups "Preview" is missing (was somehow deleted when I installed Gimp).
Every time I restore from a backup Preview is gone. Is it possible for me to move all of my files and programs to my MacBook without restoring from a backup?
