MacBook Pro :: Finding Fan Connector?
Apr 7, 2010I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro 15" with the 2.53 GHz 6MB L2 cache processor and the 512 MB 9600GT. While tearing it down, I accidentally took the entire fan connector of the leftside fan completely off the logic board. I took it to the Apple store, where they said that they wanted $1,500 to buy a new logic board. I have this weird feeling that they are trying to rip me off, and that they could have repaired the fan connector. Does anyone have a method to reattach the connector or something? It doesn't matter if it will void the warranty because it's already expired.

May 4, 2009Does anyone think apple should change all the magsafe connectors to be like the ones on the macbook air? I think those look better than the all white ones that ship with the mb and mbp.

Jun 4, 2009I just got my MacBook back from depot and they say they replaced something called a "Connector", which is listed as item number 631-0557. I have no idea what it is but on my sheet it falls under the symptom "Enclosure - Mechanical/Cosmetic Damaged". I had this replaced once before but I don't know what it is.
THe two times it has been replaced both the battery and the top case have been replaced as well. What is it? Anybody know?

May 13, 2010I just bought a new i7 15" MBP a couple days ago to upgrade my old 13" black MB. I noticed that the the magsafe connector that came with it had a different looking tip. I'm not sure if I like it. It seems awkward and I know the "correct" way to put it is the cord away from the USB/FW/etc ports - which requires another "extra" (=P) step rather than the old magsafe that seemed relatively simple since it was tiny and just jutted out from the tip.

Feb 21, 2008picked up an Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 for my X1900XT card. Got tired of hearing the stock fan kick up every month or so needed to be vacuumed out as the fins got clogged. Anywho, the cooler is designed to work alone without a fan and is working great, however I would like to install the fan module for the cooler to give it just a bit more cooling power, especially with hot Alabama summers on the horizon. Does anybody have a spare stock X1900XT fan 3 pin power plug available or know of a source of one? My Mac Pro is still under Applecare, so if anything happens and I need to get it back to Apple I need to return the video card to stock form, thus not allowing me to use the plug that is on the stock fan I removed.

Mac Pro :: What Connector Is This On My Mac Pro DVD Drive?
Feb 22, 2009I have a spare DVD drive and decided to install it in my Mac Pro.
When I opened up my case I found there was a standard Molex power cable, but the existing DVD drive in there had the above adaptor, with one spare to attach another drive with.
My spare drive has space for SATA cables, that's about it.
Any ideas what adaptor this is?

Aug 3, 2009I'm having a hard time trying to pin down what type of SATA connector the MBA rev C is using for its storage.
I found this DVnation page that lists 3 possible rev. C MBA ssd upgrades, but it is only mentioned that the connector type is Micro-SATA. Does this mean that the Intel X18 is as of rev C also suitable for the MBA (or any other regular 1.8" SATA ssd or hdd for that matter)?

MacBook Pro :: Using MagSafe Connector?
Feb 19, 2010Today I connected my macbook pro to my LED Cinema Display and the MagSafe connector's light was blinking like a hard disk's status light. Is this normal?... it's blinking rapidly like when the light of an external HD is showing the disk is in use. Something like that.
I just checked the battery status in iStats and it's giving me a 91% healthe.. . How could that be if this mac is 6 months old.

MacBook :: Battery Connector To Motherboard?
Dec 18, 2010Im fixing up a macbook, and there was problems with the battery connector. So I pulled it out. But on the LB there were only 9 holes (6 on one side, 3 on the other) and no hole where the 7th ones should be. And on the connector in those spots it was the same thing, but what is even weirder, is that it doesnt even look like the pins were broken off, just that there was nothing there, and on the top it doesnt have any solder on those points. Any ideas what to do and how to do it??? And if you want i can post pictures.

I know Apple used to give them to you for free when you got a new MacBook or MacBook Pro. But since most were wasted, they stopped. So now, if you call Apple Support or whatever, can you get one for free per request? I really don't want to pay $30 for this little cable.

Jul 2, 2010I just purchased an ICY DOCK for use with an Intel SSD. I already a have one of these, however the new one seems to have some new revisions. Basically this new one allows me to completely take off the cover. The old one slides forward and up, but the cover does not disconnect. The old one also, when closing, makes sure the SSD is seated correctly into the connector port on the ICY DOCK. The new one does not seem to have this "automatic" feature where when I close it.
