View 5 RepliesI am unable to use the search window on the right to get results when Google is selected as the search engine.I type in a search term and I am directed to a blank google search page. I have to type in the search term again, then I see a list of "hits". But when
I click on one of these hits I am not directed to the URL displayed. I have quit out of Safari and relaunched. I have rebooted my Mac. Neither changes the problem... This is a Google problem: I have the same symptoms when I use Safari on Windows XP. When I switch the search engine to Bing, the problems go away, for both platforms Has Google been hacked? Is this a Google attack on Safari? How can I enter GoGoDuck as a search engine choice?

Is there a keyboard shortcut for switching search engines in Safari's search box (I believe Chrome had this feature before they got rid of the search box in the latest version)? The arrow on the left-hand side is cumbersome.

The last search I did turned up 617 pages, I would not be economical to have to go through and manually input every page to print them. I've tried every method I could think of with preview. I've tried Adobe. I've tried PDF Reader, PDF Reader X,PDF Reader ++ ...

I have a spare DVD drive and decided to install it in my Mac Pro.
When I opened up my case I found there was a standard Molex power cable, but the existing DVD drive in there had the above adaptor, with one spare to attach another drive with.
My spare drive has space for SATA cables, that's about it.
Any ideas what adaptor this is?
I know it doesn't have a lot to do with Apple specifically but it is hardware and there was nowhere else suitable.
I bought a record player over ebay and the only thing missing is the power cable. It is an AC input and the connector looks like this.
I'm having a hard time trying to pin down what type of SATA connector the MBA rev C is using for its storage.
I found this DVnation page that lists 3 possible rev. C MBA ssd upgrades, but it is only mentioned that the connector type is Micro-SATA. Does this mean that the Intel X18 is as of rev C also suitable for the MBA (or any other regular 1.8" SATA ssd or hdd for that matter)?
I am getting a 2008 Mac Pro and i am trying to get a Solid state drive for it i have two questions.
What is the connector type on a mac pro from 2008 Sata or Sata II
Also would i really notice a big performance increase in getting a SSD for my OS and programs?
Today I connected my macbook pro to my LED Cinema Display and the MagSafe connector's light was blinking like a hard disk's status light. Is this normal?... it's blinking rapidly like when the light of an external HD is showing the disk is in use. Something like that.
I just checked the battery status in iStats and it's giving me a 91% healthe.. . How could that be if this mac is 6 months old.
I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro 15" with the 2.53 GHz 6MB L2 cache processor and the 512 MB 9600GT. While tearing it down, I accidentally took the entire fan connector of the leftside fan completely off the logic board. I took it to the Apple store, where they said that they wanted $1,500 to buy a new logic board. I have this weird feeling that they are trying to rip me off, and that they could have repaired the fan connector. Does anyone have a method to reattach the connector or something? It doesn't matter if it will void the warranty because it's already expired.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI assume the DVI out on the 2007 MacBook Pro (model identifier 3,1) is a nonstandard DVI and requires a DVI-to-DVI adapter? It looks like a fullsize connector that I could attach with a standard DVI, but I thought I needed a 30.00 adapter, is this true?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking about buying one of the Hypermac External Batteries ([URL]) for traveling and such.
They offer their models with either the old Magsafe connector or the new, silver, tubular connector. I would prefer the tubular connector, but I have the old style MBP (non-unibody).
Is the new style connector compatible with the old style MBP?
Im fixing up a macbook, and there was problems with the battery connector. So I pulled it out. But on the LB there were only 9 holes (6 on one side, 3 on the other) and no hole where the 7th ones should be. And on the connector in those spots it was the same thing, but what is even weirder, is that it doesnt even look like the pins were broken off, just that there was nothing there, and on the top it doesnt have any solder on those points. Any ideas what to do and how to do it??? And if you want i can post pictures.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy power connector strip has broken apart on my iBookG4. In the past, I would put it on, by using a safety pin, to short-circuit it to fire it up. It eventually froze up, I took the battery out and put it back in. Previously, in the past this has worked to get it back on. However, now I cannot get it back on.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi was wondering, how hot is the little magsafe connector on the mac book pro supposed to be. i've heard about issues of them burning so i wanted to make sure of the heat issue. when i touch the sides of it it's pretty hot, hotter than the rest of my machine. is this normal?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got my MacBook back from depot and they say they replaced something called a "Connector", which is listed as item number 631-0557. I have no idea what it is but on my sheet it falls under the symptom "Enclosure - Mechanical/Cosmetic Damaged". I had this replaced once before but I don't know what it is.
THe two times it has been replaced both the battery and the top case have been replaced as well. What is it? Anybody know?
Does anyone know what this kind of connector is called and where I can buy em?

I just bought a new i7 15" MBP a couple days ago to upgrade my old 13" black MB. I noticed that the the magsafe connector that came with it had a different looking tip. I'm not sure if I like it. It seems awkward and I know the "correct" way to put it is the cord away from the USB/FW/etc ports - which requires another "extra" (=P) step rather than the old magsafe that seemed relatively simple since it was tiny and just jutted out from the tip.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI really like the new design of the Magsafe power cord connector. But both designs still put stress on the cord at the connector, if your Macbook is moved. I hope Apple gives the Magsafe a swivel, so the cord can move more freely as the laptop is moved. Am I the only one thinking this would be a good idea?
