View 1 RepliesI have read that it is very helpful to separate the applications programs on one disk or volume and place the data on a separate disk or volume..as described below:
"Avoid putting your data (images, spreadsheets, documents, music) on the same volume as your system, and preferably not even on the same physical drive as your system (eg a partition on the same drive as the system). Its one thing for a hard drive to fail; its quite another to have both the system and your data gone." This is from the [URL] website.
My system has multiple hard drives, but this newbie is wondering how actually I accompany this.. do I simply save the photos, spreadsheets , etc , onto the different drive as I am working with them within the applications?
It is looking more and more like I will be relying on Mail for Exchange rather than Outlook. Is their a way I can separate emails by date like Outlook does? Have hundreds of emails not broken up is difficult to read/organize. Maybe a setting I am missing or another App I can download. For clarity, I am not talking of sorting by date rather having the emails in sections by their date received and broken up a bit more.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo for one of my classes, I am going to be using a bunch of audio files, that I will eventually want to put on my iPhone to listen to. However, once they are on my iPhone, I would like to be able to still have them, just not in my library. Is there a way to make a playlist of these audio files, that do not show up in my main library?

Is this normal, and is there any way around this? So that I can pick and choose which applications exist on the 2nd account?
I made sure that all tags were the same, including album artwork, and I edited all of the album's information at the same time so that it would be the same. But still iTunes seems to see these guys as two separate albums.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been feeling paranoid lately after reading a number of articles on how vulnerable my data is. I wanted to make my MBP more secure. I realize that with cold boot attacks, nothing is ever truly secure, but I do want my data more safely protect than with just an EFI and user password. I don't have any particular files on my computer that is pressingly sensitive, so I found truecrypt to be not very useful. I want my computer to generally well protected.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm digitizing some taped conversations with older relatives onto my Powerbook, via AudioHijack Pro. Once I have all the .mp3s on my HD, I'd like to combine them into one CD, divided into tracks. They are generally stories reminiscing about childhood, and I'm going to make some CD jackets that describe each one as X-mas gifts. I know how to make DVDs with chapter markers in iDVD or iMovie, but how should I do this for strictly audio CDs? Garageband, Quicktime Pro, Toast?

I'm wondering if there is any way that two screensavers can run independently on two monitors. So, if there is, drop me a line.
I have an external hard drive which holds all of my music. It is my main iTunes library and is in AIFF (CD) format. What I want to do is copy this music and convert it to MP3 (or similar compressed format compatible with iPod) from the external drive, and put it into a separate library on my Mac's internal hard drive in the MP3 format. That way I'd still have my original music in AIFF on the external drive, and a copy of it in MP3 format on the internal drive for moving to my iPod or iPhone. Is this possible? Does it make sense? Also, is there a better (in terms of sound quality) compressed format than MP3 to use?

In the past I had them the same but now wish them to have seperate passwords, is this possible? Today I changed my mobile me login password and it changed iTunes too.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAt some point in time I must have chosen to group names. I have many customers, for instance, with the last name of Johnson and instead of each person having their own card, they all get grouped together within one card.
Any way to de-group these?
application or app that will allow me to lock my keyboard? I've got a curious new kitten who insists on walking on my laptop when I'm sat watching a film and pausing/stopping/ejecting etc!
View 2 Replies View RelatedIm really diggin Iwork Pages and have been using it for a few months. However, somehow when working on a multipage document, I attached 2 of the pages together and cannot get them to separate.
The best way to explain it is; if you click on the VIEW / Page Thumbnails your pages will appear down the left column. Normally you can move them around, delete, copy whatever. Somehow 2 of mine only move together and they cannot be separated, moved or deleted without both going.
I have pictures that are in the incorrect "Events." Since iPhoto '11 auto-creates Events based on the time period the photos were taken, it is inevitable to get some into an Event you don't want them in. I might take 15 pictures in the morning of the sunrise, then take some pictures at the baseball game, and then another of something that catches my eye sometime during the day, and then some more photos at sunset.
I want the sunrise/sunset/sky pics in one event, the ball game in another, and the solo picture in no event, or an event called "Misc." If iPhoto '11 lumps them all into one Sunrise Event, how do I go about separating them out?
I'd really like to split my music (all from CD's) into separate libraries. One for my popular music, and one for my classical music.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac 20'' running Snow Leopard and I want to keep my screen on (to be more specifically, I need to keep it on with a photo on it, always) but when someone moves the mouse or press a key I don't want them to access my computer without entering my password. (like a transparent screen lock app) I think you got the idea, can you recommend me a software that does this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedLet's say I find a great video on the internet. Is there a free and legal way to separate the audio file only? Is there a software program that will do this?
And if there is nothing that's free, do you suggest buying a certain music/mixing program out there that has this capability?
I was trying to sum that title up as best as I could. I'm looking for an audio program that will allow me to take one long audio track, separate it by markers (or something), and export/burn to CD (each marker would represent an individual track). The Wavelab program has this feature, but Wavelab is PC based so I can't use it =( Anyone know of anything?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to move my pictures, movies, music and documents folders to another internal drive. I read in this post that it should be a simple manoeuvre to move the pictures folder to another location and replace the pictures folder in the old home folder with an alias pointing to the pictures folder in the new location. I thought perhaps I can follow that procedure also for the other folders.
