Applications :: Is There Any Free Software Utility That Can Separate Audio From Video
Oct 6, 2010
Let's say I find a great video on the internet. Is there a free and legal way to separate the audio file only? Is there a software program that will do this?
And if there is nothing that's free, do you suggest buying a certain music/mixing program out there that has this capability?
I want to convert some video files (specifically swf in this case) to audio files so I can listen on my iPod. I looked everywhere and can't find some free software that does that. There are tons that have trial periods with lots of limitations (like it won't convert anything larger than a 5k size file) so I don't want those because I won't know if the thing works well unless I pay for it. I'm not opposed to paying for a converter IF I know it works awesome on a Mac.
burning movies on my mac using Burn application. The file is in AVI... however when it converts to mpg...the file then changes into .iso (which should be as a dmg)... and i see the folder containing the video as .Before i used to burn movies onto DVD discs... it would simply convert from AVI into MPG and then that was it...the file completed successfully... but now i get the .VOB extension... and a separate Audio and Video folder
I'm digitizing some taped conversations with older relatives onto my Powerbook, via AudioHijack Pro. Once I have all the .mp3s on my HD, I'd like to combine them into one CD, divided into tracks. They are generally stories reminiscing about childhood, and I'm going to make some CD jackets that describe each one as X-mas gifts. I know how to make DVDs with chapter markers in iDVD or iMovie, but how should I do this for strictly audio CDs? Garageband, Quicktime Pro, Toast?
I was trying to sum that title up as best as I could. I'm looking for an audio program that will allow me to take one long audio track, separate it by markers (or something), and export/burn to CD (each marker would represent an individual track). The Wavelab program has this feature, but Wavelab is PC based so I can't use it =( Anyone know of anything?
I have a pdf file with lots of high-res photos in it. Is there a good way to reduce the file size while keeping the photo quality reasonable? A free utility that allows users to adjust the level of photo quality would be great. Under Preview, I tried "save as" and then "Reduce File Size" with Quartz filter. The file size was reduced by 1/10 but the photos did not look good.
I'm fairly new into my mac. Today I have been searching for a utility to wipe free space on my macbook. I'm looking for something open source/freeware. When I was using Windoze I used Eraser by Heide. I can't find a thing out there. Oh, and I've done a search here in the forums and after looking through multiple pages I haven't found anything that meets my needs. Sorry. I'm pretty frustrated. And pardon my ignorance in all things Mac.
I record guitar covers for youtube, as of now I have been using 2 PC's (one for playing backing track, one for recording the output from my mixer (along with recording the webcam).
I have brought my mac over from my other house (running os x tiger 10.4.11) and wanted to use this as the recording device.
Does anybody know of any software (preferably free) which i can use to record audio from line in and USB webcam together? (like an alternative to windows media encoder)
I listen to and watch a lot of podcasts. Quite often, after I am done listening to a Audio Podcast I will watch a video podcast. Some times it gets stuck and won't play the video but plays audio fine. Anyone else have this problem?
i've been using switch to convert audio files forever, but it's slow and always makes my macbook fan spin out of control (and NOTHING else does that). anyone have a good, comprehensive, FREE alternative to switch to recommend?

Someone at work recorded a screen capture video. Within the frame, there's good material but a lot of garbage around the edges that I don't want (what Sally Hogshead would call "screen crapture"). The good stuff lasts the entire duration of the clip, is not perfectly centered, and does not move at all in its placement or change size throughout the clip.
If I crop or trim, I can eliminate the garbage, either making it transparent or black (there's no other clip beneath it to show through) easily enough. Is there a way to then export just the desired portion of the video frame (the non-cropped good stuff) as its own video at a smaller frame size?
any video capture programs that capture video, sound, and can be used for free with no annoying watermarks? I know that's a lot to ask for 1 program but I know they exist for windows, and one has to exist for Mac somewhere.
I've quickly searched around, and found too many options and no idea about the quality of each. One site has one list of ten "best" free video file converters, while another site has a completey different list of ten "best"!
So, I can't figure out what a good well-known, easy to use one is. I want to be able to convert random different types of video files into DVD-quality files to watch on my DVD player, and I want the quality to be good.
I can't tell it's obviously in a lot of shadow. I'm thinking 15", because it seems to be wide enough...but I'm not sure. Looks like it has the SD card slot, so it's the newest model, but I can't see if there's a combined audio in/out or two separate jacks. Any clues I'm missing?
I've been trying to to export my Audio from FCPX 10.1.3 as Separate Files (per Roles) from a Multicam clip but it stops and freezes after exporting the first Audio track listed in the export setting. Example:
I have a Multicam clip with 3 Audio Roles (Bob, John and Marc, all assigned to their Audio Roles). When i export Audio as Roles (separate files), i then select all the Roles i want to export: Marc + John + Bob. It will export up to 35% or so and freeze. Then i look in the Finder location of the export to see the audio of Marc only.
If i put John + Marc + Bob, i will see the Audio for John only and so on.If (i have to at this point) i cancel the export, the audio file gets deleted and i get nothing out of FCP. Is there a way to export Audio as Separate Roles file from a Multicam clip or do i need to add all the Audio clip separately from the Multicam on the Timeline?
I'm adding the audio in the Multicam clip so that, if i want to remove a chunk of video from the timeline, The audio attached to it will also be removed and everything stays sync'ed after the cut i made.
I tried Detaching the Audio from the Main Timeline. I then get the Audio but still in a "multi cam" bundle. When i select that and look in the Inspector, i see all the Roles but i can't Export like i want to.
Info: OS X Mavericks (10.9.4), Final Cut Pro X (10.1.3)
I know that VLC is supposed to sync audio/video on the fly and it usually works fine. But is it actually possible to sync the audio with the video when there is an actual fault of the sync in the original, for example, avi-file??
I am new to Macs and I used to have a program for my PC called Tunebite, which plays back audio files and video files back and copies them as whatever you want. Gets rid of copy protection stuff.
i have this live concert on dvd and i want the audio on a cd to play in my car ..i was wondering is there an application i can use to extract this audio and convert it to a preferable audio format?
I have several video recordings (mostly in mp4 format), which I would like to parse the audio out of. Is it possible to do that? There aren't specific tracks I want, I just want the whole audio track from the video extracted. Any programs to do this? Better yet, freeware?
I'm trying to burn some DVDs. I first burned in Finder and found out the hard way that that makes terrible quality data disc DVDs. Then I tried on iDVD, and at first it said it would only take 3 hours to burn a 1 1/2 hour movie on Professional Quality, so I was happy. But as it was encoding, it jumped to 16+ hours! So I tried again with only high quality, and it still said 8 hours, and now after 10 hours is still encoding. So, I need something else that's faster. I also need something relatively easy to learn/use. It may sound like I know what I'm talking about kind of, but I really don't and I just barely figured iDVD out. I still want it to convert into DVD quality discs (and good quality - I just got a new HDTV and would even like to try burning HD or Blu-ray discs). And I need it to be free.
So, my needs are:
#1 - FAST #2 - FREE #3 - GOOD QUALITY CONVERSIONS #4 - EASY TO LEARN/USE
I am trying to put together a project where I would like to at a certain section of the video silence the video audio play some music then re intreduce video audio. Is it possible to do this and if so how do I do it?
i am trying to get mplayer to play a video through airfoil/airport express.... i had heard that m player can delay the video so that the audio through express and the video are synced together, but for the life of me i can't figure it out!
I'm sure there used to be a way to remove the Audio from a Video in iMovie 06, but in this 08 version I can't seem to find it. I'd rather not use ffmpeg if I can get away with it, anyone know any other ways to do it if not in iMovie?
I downloaded the newest episode of the office, and it started fine, but at one point the video went a little "wacky" and the audio/video became unsynced. Does anyone know a solution to this, I have tried quitting itunes but that didn't work
I'm having this issue with imovie 09 where when I export the movie project, the audio and video is out of sync starting at this specific area. What's odd though is that it plays fine while I'm editing in imovie but when the movie is exported, the file is messed up. I tried exporting using Quicktime and exporting the movie normally. I also tried replacing the clip where the problem with the audio started but it's still the same. I'm really upset because I spent hours editing this project but.
