application or app that will allow me to lock my keyboard? I've got a curious new kitten who insists on walking on my laptop when I'm sat watching a film and pausing/stopping/ejecting etc!

Both scroll lock and num lock are now on. How do I change change them back? I'm just about ready to call him back and have at it!

View 24 Replies View RelatedI have been using a KVM switch on a Asus notebook running windows 7 and an Acer E500 desktop PC running windows xp both connected to one external monitor . to switch between the Asus and the Acer it was just a case of tapping the external windows keyboard key ( Scroll Lock ) twice. now ive connected the KVM unit between the Asus notebook and my iMac , and one external monitor, now I find that there's no scroll lock key on my Mac external keyboard , so I cannot switch between the Asus notebook and the iMac , can any one please suggest what I have to do to be able to switch using my apple keyboard
if I plug my windows keyboard in , then I can use the '' scroll lock '' key to switch between the Asus notebook and my iMac with out a problem. how to use my Mac keyboard to switch the KVM unit would be most welcome
I like to know the shortcut for locking the system, like when you press ctrl + shift + eject same time it turns the monitor off in imac etc i want the exact same function but when mouse shaken the system asks for password.
View 5 Replies View Relatedis it me or is there something wrong with the caps lock key on the new aluminium keyboards? i like the keyboards but for some reason the caps lock just doesn't engage most of the time. someone said it was because firmware stopped it from coming on instantly to prevent accidental presses, but to me it seems like a huge design flaw - in my experience it comes on instantly if you press it in a certain manner. i've already got a replacement keyboard from apple because of this but the new one has the exact same problem.

I recently bought a 27" iMac that came with a small wirelss keyboard (without the number pad) and a magic mouse. Two questions:
1) Is there a way to lock the F keys on? I use InDesign a lot and I hate that I have to keep holding the "fn" key down to select F2 (which I have set up to change to the selection tool) or any other F key I have set up as a shortcut.
2) Is there a way to slow down the scrolling speed of the finger method of scrolling? Most of the time I just want to scroll a little bit, not an entire page. I used to use my mouse's scroll wheel and set the speed to slow.

This has just started happening a few days ago. I think it has something to do with bluetooth. Every time I have to restart my iMac, the mouse and keyboard freeze. I work around this by unplugging the mouse from the keyboard and plugging it into one of the usb ports on the back of the imac. I used to have a wireless keyboard and mouse and I'm typing on it now because the regular wired keyboard no longer seems to work at all now. I think the bluetooth setting sin system preferences which are all checked, may have something to do with this but not sure. Everything else on the machijne is fine. How can I set things so that I can use my wired keyboard?

The only way i can fix it is remove the batteries
Or disconnect and reconnect the keyboard by clicking on the bluetooth icon
So if apple is not going to fix this bluetooth bug im going to see if apple will refund my money so i can get a wired one.
My friends keyboard does this also and im fed up with this bs...
In System Preferences > Keyboard > Modifier Keys, select "No Action" for the Caps Lock key. Hit OK. Go back, Restore Defaults, OK. That will only work until the first, sometimes second sleep! You'll have to reboot your iMac again and again and again then to get it work again! I have changed 3 aluminum keyboards (two of the wireless).

I have a 2008 black macbook with 10.7.2 installed (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM). When I press caps lock, no green light turns on and letters remain in non-capital form. Even when I hold Caps lock for a few seconds, nothing happens. If I physically connect an apple keyboard via usb to my computer, caps lock doesn't work.Â
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm yet to figure out a pattern, but my Macbook Pro's keyboard will just stop working for several minutes at a time at random points in time...Even if I hit caps or num lock, they don't turn green. Sometimes it'll just happen once every few hours, but I was in class the other day and it would work for a minute, then not work for a few, than work for another minute, etc.

I realize that with cold boot attacks, nothing is ever truly secure, but I do want my data more safely protect than with just an EFI and user password. View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a replacement keyboard on ebay for my MBP and just installed it. It's been about a week, and just today, I noticed the capslock key doesn't work.. I'm not sure if it has been this way, or if it recently just stopped. The light doesn't come on at all.
I was curious if this was a common problem? If not, is their anything I can do as a substitute for caps lock? Another key perhaps? Or, a button on the task bar or something?
If I'm not at home I would like the MBP to lock the screen after 15 mins, but not while I'm home. So if my home-wifi isn't detected I would like the "lock screen" to be enabled. Is this possible?
