OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mac Mail Is Showing 5 Unread Email That Are Not There
Apr 1, 2012The mail app on my mac is showing 5 unread e mails that are not there? i have been through my mailbox which is an icloud account and there are no unread e mails?

May 13, 2012I have some email addresses for various web addresses for my business web site and I just noticed that when sending an email to one of these, mac mail is showing my name in the To box. Does anyone know where this gets pulled from so I can change it? I am not seeing it in the preferences for some reason.

Nov 19, 2009My friend's just got a new MacBook Pro, MacOS 10.6.2, latest version of Safari, and she's having problems with a lot of websites displaying some links and text strangely, as A's in boxes (pic attached). Oddly, the other 2 user accounts on her machine are fine with the same websites! She's cleared the cache, restarted Safari and her Mac (many times), changed the text encoding (and then back again), but nothing solves it.

Mar 16, 2012For some reason, my mail icon is no longer showing my badge icon displaying the number of unread emails I have. Within mail, next to my mailbox, it no longer shows the number of unread emails either even though there are clearly email messages with the blue dot indicating they're unread.

Mar 3, 2009I use an IMAP email account (provided by AOL) and every time I send an email it then comes in to my AOL sent items folder and displays an unread count on mail.app. It's infuriating.
I think imap stores the sent mail on it's server and I think I'm subscribed to all these folders so when it receives my sent mail, it sends a copy back to me.
I have tried creating a rule that mark all messages from me as read, but to no avail, it still does it anyway.

Mar 26, 2009I've been running all of my emails through my iPhone since it was released. Just recently I picked up a new Mac Mini as a work machine, and I set up Mail to handle all of the same accounts as my phone, with the thinking being that I can read and respond to messages when I'm at the computer, and when I step away, be able to read the remaining emails on my iPhone.
What my problem is, however, that both my Gmail and Hotmail accounts don't seem to "sync" properly between the phone and the computer, meaning that mail that I've read or deleted in Mail on the Mac Mini don't show up as being read or deleted on the iPhone, and vice versa.
I don't want to have to delete a message on my phone if I've already taken care of it in Mail.

Jun 25, 2009I am trying to switch my email program from Thunderbird to the mac email program Mail.Thunderbird has been playing up a lot recently and am tired of the glitches.
I have all the correct server settings etc and succesfully imported my mailboxes. The problem is that when I send an email it isn't from the right email address?? Is this a Mail problem or smth to do with my settings? I'm with Virgin media and have a separate set of email address through my website for my business so my email address are through freeola that I am using through Thunderbird.I'm sorry if this all sounds very stupid but I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out where I have gone wrong!

Nov 17, 2009This has concerned me ever since I got a Mac. Sometimes I'll open mail, and it'll say (in the bottom left ) receiving 1 of 15. Scroll across to 15 - but I'll actually only get one new email. I have Junk Mail filtering to just mark emails, not delete them.

Sep 10, 2009OSX: Snow Leopard Recently, the "allow application to accept internet connections" dialog has been disappearing as soon at it appears without any interaction on my part. I've verified my firewall configurations and removed all exceptions. I'm unsure about the cause of this and a little worried that my machine has become host to some form of malware. I'm looking for suggestions on how to trouble shoot this problem. Is there a way, for example, to see is something has placed hooks into the even that causes this dialog to display itself?

Dec 4, 2014My email messages for one Google account no longer show up in my OS X Mail client.Case info:This may have occurred after I enabled the 'All Mail' to Apple Mail for the account, then removed it once I saw it was adding every single message I deleted since the beginning of time. Still, that doesn't explain the following...My email messages for another Google account does show up in my OS X Mail client. They have exactly the same IMAP settings other than username and password.My email messages for the account that doesn't work, shows up fine on my iPhone/iOS and gmail.com.None of the messages in the inbox or folders/labels show up. The count is zero. However they all show up fine in folders in iOS and on gmail.com.There is an indicator for one new message in the inbox, but none show.

I have more than one email account set up on Mail and the strangest thing happens and I can't find out how to stop it.
Here is the problem:
- I have 2 accounts, 'Account A' is for my partner & 'Account B' is for me.
- Someone sends an email to 'Account A' (my partner) and CCs 'Account B' (me) into the same eMail.
- If I click reply from 'Account B' it sends the eMail from 'Account A' which is my partner, when it should be from me.
I have worked out that this is because 'Account A' was originally sent the eMail in The 'To' field as opposed to the 'CC' field in composing the reply eMail. I know that I can manually change the 'From' field every time when replying to an eMail but it becomes an nuisance. I forget to do it when quickly replying as I consider Mail to reply from the account that I'm reading the email from.
I have gone to the compose section in the preferences and there is an option for changing this when composing a new email but nothing when replying.

Apr 15, 2009I've only really used Mail in a very basic way - for reading email from three email accounts, one work, two Gmail. I've never attempted to organize things in any way. However, I want to clean things up a bit now. I'm getting a lot of work emails - I'm a journalist - and I want to organise them based on which article they relate to. I presumed the easiest way to do this would be to create a folder (a 'Mailbox' I take it, Mailbox > New Mailbox) and drag the relevant emails to the corresponding folder. However, when I do this the emails no longer appear in my overall Inbox, so when I search the Inbox, they don't appear. I've had a quick look around the Preferences, but can't see a simply option for changing this. Am I going about this the right way organising using Mailboxes? Or is there a better way perhaps?

Mar 29, 2009I run a site and accept paypal as a payment. Sometimes i have bad customers and try and open disputes "unauthorised use" after they receive the item. Obviously i dont want to deal with these people again and paypal dont allow you to block them in future.
But wondered if there was any tools in apple mail that highlights a customers email address so i know they are old customers who caused me trouble. Obviously i wont be able to remember all their email address. But it would be nice if there was a way to filter or highlight the email address so i know to refund them and not deal with them

Apr 30, 2009Email recipients using Mac Mail have been reporting that when they get email from me (from Outlook2007 in the PC), it would include all the tags. Also happens when I send as RTF. Plain text is fine.
So I did an experiment and since I am a mac user too, I tested it myself on my mac mail. Test scenario is this:
1. I send email from Outlook2007 (PC) using HTML as default.
2. I open with Macmail, I get garbage. (see below and/or attached file for illustration.)
3. I open same email on Entourage, it's fine.
4. I open same email on webmail, it's fine.

Aug 17, 2010I saved an email in Drafts a few days ago, and just sent it out recently. However, there was a problem during the sending. Several copies of the same email were sent to the recipient. After restarting my computer and the application a message keeps popping up stating: Some actions taken while the account "my acct name" was offline could not be completed online. Mail has undone actions on some messages so that you can redo the actions while online. Mail has saved other messages in mailbox "On My Mac" in "On My Mac" so that you can complete the actions while online.
Additional information: The connection to the server "imap.gmail.com" on port 993 timed out.
or The IMAP command "APPEND" (to Drafts) failed with server error: Could not parse command. Along with this message the same email shows up in my Drafts folders. I've deleted many copies of them, but they keep coming back the same way. I'd also like to mention that that particular email account is not getting mail for me, but the app is getting mail for my other emails. All accounts are online. I'm not sure what to do.
