I used to be able to access email fine, but now I can never retrieve email from it. I constantly get the icon with a triangle and an exclamation mark beside the mail boxes.

My college email is a Microsoft Outlook Web Access Light 2007 account, using [URL]. I believe it is an Exchange account, as opposed to POP or IMAP, but I cannot find anywhere what to enter for "incoming mail server", "outlook web access server", or "outgoing mail server". I've tried [URL] which to me seems like the logical answer due to the generic example of [URL] along with a mix of other server names found on my email's about page.

My question is if the GMail mail will be downloaded locally to my machine or will it remain on the Google servers. I WANT it to remain on the servers, ie I only want to access my emails through Mail. Otherwise most of my HDD will fill up with email and also I will not be able to access my emails when I do not have my machine on hand. what happens when I delete an email in Mail? Will it also get deleted in GMail?

I cannot receive mhy me.com email on Microsoft Outlook on my iMac. I keep getting the message, "Mail could not be received at this time. The server for account 'iCloud' returned the error 'Authentication failed.' Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?" Reentering the password seems to have no effect and the above message repeats itself.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I've been a long time yahoo mail user, I tried Gmail for a while but found Yahoo easier to use not to mention its UI looks much better. Gmail's UI compared to Yahoo's UI looks like something that hasn't been finished or something. Yahoo's UI just looks more polished (am I the only one who likes yahoo better than gmail?) , anyways, the only advantage I found to Gmail was the free IMAP access (you have to pay for POP access on yahoo).
Searching around on the web for ways to have free POP access with yahoo mail, I found a software solution from a company called Zimbra . It's a mail application that lets you access your free yahoo account(s) from your desktop. You can also add other POP (or IMAP) enabled accounts (AOL, hotmail, Gmail, Outlook accounts, etc).
I just downloaded the application on my mac and I've been playing around with it. I was wondering if anyone has had positive or negative experiences with this application. Good enough to replace the other mail apps?
I am trying to switch my email program from Thunderbird to the mac email program Mail.Thunderbird has been playing up a lot recently and am tired of the glitches.
I have all the correct server settings etc and succesfully imported my mailboxes. The problem is that when I send an email it isn't from the right email address?? Is this a Mail problem or smth to do with my settings? I have more than one email account set up on Mail and the strangest thing happens and I can't find out how to stop it.
Here is the problem:
- I have 2 accounts, 'Account A' is for my partner & 'Account B' is for me.
- Someone sends an email to 'Account A' (my partner) and CCs 'Account B' (me) into the same eMail.
- If I click reply from 'Account B' it sends the eMail from 'Account A' which is my partner, when it should be from me.
I have worked out that this is because 'Account A' was originally sent the eMail in The 'To' field as opposed to the 'CC' field in composing the reply eMail. I know that I can manually change the 'From' field every time when replying to an eMail but it becomes an nuisance. I forget to do it when quickly replying as I consider Mail to reply from the account that I'm reading the email from.
I have gone to the compose section in the preferences and there is an option for changing this when composing a new email but nothing when replying.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've only really used Mail in a very basic way - for reading email from three email accounts, one work, two Gmail. I've never attempted to organize things in any way. However, I want to clean things up a bit now. I'm getting a lot of work emails - I'm a journalist - and I want to organise them based on which article they relate to. I presumed the easiest way to do this would be to create a folder (a 'Mailbox' I take it, Mailbox > New Mailbox) and drag the relevant emails to the corresponding folder. However, when I do this the emails no longer appear in my overall Inbox, so when I search the Inbox, they don't appear. I've had a quick look around the Preferences, but can't see a simply option for changing this. Am I going about this the right way organising using Mailboxes? Or is there a better way perhaps?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI run a site and accept paypal as a payment. Sometimes i have bad customers and try and open disputes "unauthorised use" after they receive the item. Obviously i dont want to deal with these people again and paypal dont allow you to block them in future.
But wondered if there was any tools in apple mail that highlights a customers email address so i know they are old customers who caused me trouble. Obviously i wont be able to remember all their email address. But it would be nice if there was a way to filter or highlight the email address so i know to refund them and not deal with them
Email recipients using Mac Mail have been reporting that when they get email from me (from Outlook2007 in the PC), it would include all the tags. Also happens when I send as RTF. Plain text is fine.
So I did an experiment and since I am a mac user too, I tested it myself on my mac mail. Test scenario is this:
1. I send email from Outlook2007 (PC) using HTML as default.
2. I open with Macmail, I get garbage. (see below and/or attached file for illustration.)
3. I open same email on Entourage, it's fine.
4. I open same email on webmail, it's fine.
Now that gmail is available for the iphone as exchange, it is possible to also get it to push email to desktop clients like mail.app? Theoretically, I can just follow the instructions for the iphone and apply it to mail.app right?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI saved an email in Drafts a few days ago, and just sent it out recently. However, there was a problem during the sending. Several copies of the same email were sent to the recipient. After restarting my computer and the application a message keeps popping up stating: Some actions taken while the account "my acct name" was offline could not be completed online. Mail has undone actions on some messages so that you can redo the actions while online. Mail has saved other messages in mailbox "On My Mac" in "On My Mac" so that you can complete the actions while online.
Additional information: The connection to the server "imap.gmail.com" on port 993 timed out.
or The IMAP command "APPEND" (to Drafts) failed with server error: Could not parse command. Along with this message the same email shows up in my Drafts folders. I've deleted many copies of them, but they keep coming back the same way. I'd also like to mention that that particular email account is not getting mail for me, but the app is getting mail for my other emails. All accounts are online. I'm not sure what to do.
My prob is that I have directed my gmail and my office mail address both to my mac mail. I get all the messages and my office account exists as well, but when I respond to a mail that came into my office account and I reply to it, my gmail address is seen as a sender address, not my office one. What can I do? I have already put my office email in the outgoing add. and the smtp field.
