ITunes :: Mp3 FILES Have Been Shortened On Imac Running 10.7.4
Jun 29, 2012
My wife was complaning about itunes not playing imported tunes all the way through. Thinking it was operator error I took a look and the actual mp3 files have been shortened somehow. I haven't checked all the tunes, but have checked a good many and a LOT of them are corrupt. How could this happen??? Itunes is playing the tunes correctly, it's the file itself that has been shortened.

System Spec: Late 09 21" 3.06, GeForce 9400, 4gb ramCurrently I have itunes and safari running, if i enable the visualizer my imac is noticeably slower, especially when browsing the internet.I thought it might be the fact I was running a second 1080p display from the 9400 would have caused the slow down. But the same thing occurred after i disconnected it. After repairing permissions and restarting, pmram etc.Is the 9400 causing the slowdown? I know its fairly old but itunes visualizer and safari should be quite basic tasks. Its not the end of the world i know but does the 27" imac have similar issues as i plan to upgrade my machine in 2011.

i am trying to make a compilation in itunes as a christmas present..i was hoping to create a whole new "album". but every time i try it either 1. puts the songs in alphabetical order 2. changes the original album file. Is there a program out there i can use to create a digital compilation? I have a hankering to make a mixed tape - but somehow do it in the digital age.Â

I have a Late 2009 27" iMac. I'm running Parallels so I can use ACAD LT 2010. If I load a music CD without Parallels running, no problem: it loads and plays fine. As soon as I start Parallels (with Win XP Pro) the CD contents disappear from iTunes and a couple mp3's are all I get (listed from the XP side of things I guess...) I have checked the obvious things. The CD drive is set to share. Beyond that, I really can't come up with anything in my pocking around with settings.

I have a Macbook running Leopard and an iMac running Tiger. I am looking to upgrade Leopard to Snow Leopard and Tiger to Leopard. If I were to purchase Snow Leopard and install it on the Macbook, would I then be able to use the copy of Leopard that came with the Macbook on the iMac? I am not trying to use 2 copies of the same thing on different machines, I just want to put a new os on one machine and move the existing one to another.I am reluctant to purchase the Mac Box Set version of Snow Leopard for the iMac because I do not want or need iLife and iWork.

I have successfully transferred all my music from windows to my new iMac, but I am unable to drag and drop them into iTunes. I was told before purchasing that this would be no problem. I can play all the tracks individually but it uses Quicktime to play them. Am I missing something? How can I get them across to iTunes?

I have an aluminium iMac, 2.4GHz Intel C2D, 2GB RAM, running Leopard. On one account, it runs slowly, with a noticeable delay in doing anything, even menus take a second do to anything once they've been clicked. It has all the updates installed and I've tried repairing the permissions and rebooting already.
Since I've only noticed it on one account, I'm inclined to think it's a corrupted user file or something.

I've read about them being windows files, etc. But also elsewhere mention of exe files being just one type of compressed file, etc. Basically, I see on some of the p2p sites that ALL program files I download (not copy protected programs. Not asking for advice on breaking the law) that are specifically designated as Mac OS X files come in zipped files. When I click open, they automatically unzip and show files containing exe files. If it was the odd one out that did this, I would assume there was some mix up and I was looking at the windows version of these programs. But all of the dozens of files are this way. Are these just exe because of the way they are zipped? Do I really need to run windows to open these? If so, how do I do installations into my mac os x applications folder?

I am running snow leopard on the 27" imac and for some reason when i try dragging files onto the USB that i have inserted it does not let me copy the files? It doesn't do that with the other USBs i don't understand why this one is not letting it copy. It reads it fine.

When importing songs into iTunes, the software by default is set to copy the music files to the iTunes media folder and convert them to .m4a format. This, of course, results in having two copies of each song after the import is done. Before I disable this option I'd like to know what you think are the pros and cons of having this option enabled/disabled.

Is is possible to share files to the desktop of a mini-server running Lion? I've done this for years with other operating systems with no trouble ... and when I drag files to other locations on the mini-server it works fine.
But when I try to drag a file to the desktop of the mini-server, I get asked for a password. I type in the password; it gets accepted. Then I get a dialog: "A newer version of do you want to replace...?" When I click "yes," I get another dialog:

I just bought this iMac in January and I've already had issues with Lion. First it was facetime.... now, I inserted a dvd-r that I already burned which has video files on them. The good thing, at least Lion recognizes that a cd/dvd is in the drive, the bad thing is that the dvd is already burned yet it keeps saying that I inserted a blank disc... which I did not.

I'm trying to install Windows 7 on my mac. I'm using bootcamp assistant to try and partition my hard drive, but it gives me an error saying it cannot partition it because of unmovable files or something along those lines. Is there any way to get around it, and if I do use my OSX install disk and run disk utility to repair the drive will my files be deleted?

I have a Lacie external hard disk that was originally formatted for PCs. I have some files there, but more importantly, my iTunes library is saved directly on the Lacie (I have everything on apple lossless, so they are some big files). I will keep using this PC while connected to the Lacie hard disk to syncro my iPod.
The problem is that I bought a mac now and I wanted the Lacie hard disk to be able to transfer files from mac to pc and vice versa. I have already read that I would have to copy the files that are on the Lacie, reformat the Lacie and then paste the files back. My only doubt is that if I do this reformatting, will I have any problems using the iTunes library while connected to my pc and iPod?
I just ask that because every time I changed any iTunes library folder on the computer, the iTunes would say that the music file couldnt be found and ask me if I wanted to look for the file. I didnt want to reformat the Lacie to later find out that I would have to look for every single music file, because that would be nearly impossible. I dont know if I was able to make my question really clear

Why does my mac stop downloading files, copying to clipboard, saving files to desktop, etc?
iMac g5 1.9 ghz 17" running 10.5.8. Had a hard drive crash and bought a new one. Loaded new OS leapord. Everything works fine at first, but after the computer has been on for a while, it will stop downlading files, disk verify doesn't work. I can't copy and paste stuff. It seems as if the hard drive is full, but I have only used 32GB of 300GB.
When I restart, it works again, then slowly not. Is it an overheating issue? How do I know if my fan is running? Is it a bad hard drive I put in it? Bought it new with three year waranty.

I'm a late convert to the apple thing mainly because of my love of the iphone. Had decided to buy a macpro after Christmas, but my PC with my Itunes library died today. Have now ordered the new mac and I can't wait. Here's my first question. Had my itunes library setup on a removable drive rather than on the pc. What exactly will I have to do to get my library up and running on the mac.

I want to run my entire iTunes Music Library from my NAS (Synology) to save space and to consolidate all my files in one secure place. I do no want to use Home Share for the simple reason, you can't synch an iphone or ipod with the music in home share and nor can you keep the artwork for albums etc. So.... I managed to do it. I reset the library, recreated it over painstaking hours, got all the artwork, backed up and synched my ipod to Itunes off the library on my NAS. Then all of a sudden, after taking it offline for a while and using a local library while i did that, it has stopped working and won't reaccess the library folder on the NAS.
Why? For some reason it pulls in different data. Is there a way of deleting the library file that causes all these problems and getting it to rebuild itself, or will that mean waiting hours and hours again while it rebuilds all the music files, even though they exist in the tree already.Â

Have a G5 iMac (non Intel) that was running OS 10.4.11 that now won't boot. I get the chime and the Apple then blue screen where it hangs. It won't even boot from an install CD/DVD (same routine) to blue screen. I had wanted to do an archive and reinstall but couldn't get the disk to boot. I have been able to Safe Boot and view files. In Safe Boot, I've verified the hard drive (no problems detected) and Repaired Privileges, but still won't boot (blue Screen). I've tried an install disk with same result (no boot and blue screen).
I've hooked the G5 to another G5 iMac, booted the bad G5 in Target Mode. The hard drive appears on the second G5s desktop. Using CCC have cloned the hard drive to an external hard drive (now have a backup of I don't know what. During the cloning, Norton AntiVirus detected and Quarantined a virus. I've run DiskUtility from the second iMac and again found no problems with the hard drive or permissions. Should I erase the bad hard drive, reinstall system software (using an interim user). The try to migrate all the old applications and files from the clone? If not what should I do next?
