I have an old G4 running osx 10.4. Tried to upgrade so my ipod would be compatible and ended up locking out my old version. I need something above 4.9, are any ones available for 10.4 above this??

Does anyone notice it takes a few seconds longer for iTunes 8 to load, or am I the only one with this issue, it seems to take forever.
Does anyone know a way to fix this?
I am unable to add any songs to my iTunes. I have iTunes 12.0.1.26 and am running Yosemite 10.10.1. My iTunes is sourced to my external hard drive.
I tried mp3, Apple lossless and WAV files. I also tried downloading one of my purchased songs directly from the store. I get an error message of - 50 when I do the store download or try to drop any music file into my 'Instantly Add' folder. I cleared my caches and rebooted (3 times). I'm officially at a loss.
I'm running Panther 10.3.9 and I've made a mistake with Safari. For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to install a new version of Safari, even though I hadn't been prompted to do so. Safari wouldn't then open as I cannot run the new version on 10.3.9, but it had deleted my old copy in the process. I tried dragging a version of Safari 1.3.2 across the network from an identical computer running 10.3.9, but Safari would still not open.

Is there a way to tell Snow Leopard that when a certain app is running, its icon should not be put into the dock? I'd like this to occur only for this one, single app, not for any other apps, whose icons I still would like to see in the dock when they're running. If this isn't possible, no big deal. But if it is, I'd like to know how to make it happen.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if this is the right place for my question, but I wanted to get opinions from you guys. I use Microsoft Word, Excel and sometimes, Power Point quite often at college. They have PCs of course... and I have an iMac. And I wanted to get Microsoft Office at home.
Now, I was looking on the web for different prices and all that. I wasn't sure between buying Windows XP (because I work with XP at college, not Vista) and downloading Bootcamp, or Microsoft Office for Mac. Also, I wasn't sure if the Mac version was similar to the one for Windows... and also if I could transfer files from the PC to Mac versions without problems.
Basically, money wise, if I buy one or the other, there isn't too much of a difference. But I haven't looked everywhere for the best prices available, although I'm guessing it's pretty much the same most places (internet).
I'm having trouble upgrading to iTunes 10.6.1. Earlier today, I opened iTunes, and received an error message that "iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." Still not sure why this happened. I followed a workaround I found by essentially renaming a previous iTunes library. Now, I open iTunes, and when I click on "software update," it is indicated that I can update to 10.6.1. However, this takes me to the main Mac Software Update program, but unfortunately I'm told that there are no updates for my computer. The "current version" I am using is iTunes 10.5.1. how I can actually upgrade to 10.6.1?

After I updated my iTunes, which previously have been working with no problems at all, it suddenly began not working.
The problem I have is, that when i open iTunes, nothing happens. I can see it's running in the Task Manager, but I can't get it to open.

View 11 Replies View RelatedIf I purchase a movie on iTunes, it loads into my movie section of iTunes and I can load it onto my iphone. Now Since I own the movie, can I move the movie to my wife's version of itunes (residing on a difference computer) so she can load it and watch it on her iphone? the only work around is see for this it to buy the DVD at a store, and use something like DVD-to-iPhone to make a copy.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAm I the only one who feels that iTunes has become far too bloated and heavy on system resources for such a simple task as......playing mp3s? Theres no reason for iTunes to be taking up 70+ mb of ram. And why is still called 'iTunes' when its more of a media central application, seeing how it combines iphones, ipods, apple TV, ringtones, tv episodes, etc. Its become way too broad to be called iTunes.
This is one thing that bugs me. Some of us prefer not to use such a proprietary based digital audio player like the ipod/iphones and have more common sense by using UMS based players which dont require software, and therefor have no need for all the extra features of it. And seeing how theres really only itunes for mac thats worthy of being used, im pretty much stuck on iTunes. Basically, I *ONLY* use iTunes for mp3 playback on my mac. If this was the case on windows side, I'd have a plethora of choices (im expecting blind apple sheep to start screaming at me for that one). Each time I setup iTunes with a new installation or new login account, i turn off ALLLL the features. The only one that stays is internet radio.
Basically: iTunes has become far too bloated and broad. There should be something lighter for such a common, simple, everyday used task as playing mp3s.
