I have a Late 2009 27" iMac. I'm running Parallels so I can use ACAD LT 2010. If I load a music CD without Parallels running, no problem: it loads and plays fine. As soon as I start Parallels (with Win XP Pro) the CD contents disappear from iTunes and a couple mp3's are all I get (listed from the XP side of things I guess...) I have checked the obvious things. The CD drive is set to share. Beyond that, I really can't come up with anything in my pocking around with settings.
I got this software in hopes that i would be able to play C&C 4 on my new imac 27 inch ive installed the game in the virtual machine and everything seems good until i get to the point where it says you must have direct x 9.0 installed what does this mean? ive read a tad on the internet about the program but its already supposed to be integrated into Windows 7.
This is the first time I've tried OWC memory. So far, so good - the Mac recognizes the RAM and boots okay. Everything I've tried thus far post-upgrade works. I am a happy camper now - my Mac was a bit sluggish due to running out of physical RAM running Parallels.
I just downloaded the latest update to Parallels. I shut down Parallels before running the update, and I even did a reboot of the computer. And yet every time I run the update program it keeps telling me to "shut down these running and suspended virtual machines" and refers to "My Boot Camp"Like I said, I rebooted the computer first. There are no virtual machines running. Zero, zilch, nada. So why in the ******* is Parallels telling me that there is? "My Boot Camp" isn't even a VM that I use
System Spec: Late 09 21" 3.06, GeForce 9400, 4gb ramCurrently I have itunes and safari running, if i enable the visualizer my imac is noticeably slower, especially when browsing the internet.I thought it might be the fact I was running a second 1080p display from the 9400 would have caused the slow down. But the same thing occurred after i disconnected it. After repairing permissions and restarting, pmram etc.Is the 9400 causing the slowdown? I know its fairly old but itunes visualizer and safari should be quite basic tasks. Its not the end of the world i know but does the 27" imac have similar issues as i plan to upgrade my machine in 2011.
I just bought a new iMac last night, I am finally leaving the PC world. I need to install a OS for parallels since I have alot of PC programs I need to run. I have ran thru the paralells set up and installed a windows xp sp1 home edition cd when prompted but it will not load properly. The XP install disc is a disk I got with an older Dell laptop. And it says for distribution with Dell computers only. I starts to load, I input my activation code and it starts to install.
The first few times it got hung up saying that it is installing and will take 39 minutes to complete but just sat there for hours. Now its missing some line of code. O well I have to get a new copy of XP I guess. Here is the issue, I must have XP with nothing new then SP2. When I run sp3 my CAD program (softplan) cannot print to scale. They said its a problem with sp3 and I would have to upgrade V14 to fix this issue. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get this current XP sp1 to load, or can I get an XP sp2. Everything I find is preloaded sp3.
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/8A306) I am waiting to purchase a new Mac Pro, when I do, I still need to run some win apps (non games via Parallels). What impacts to the speed of these would one likely see? I plan to spec my new MP with the fastest single chip processor, fastest CPU, and at least 8 gigs ram. Config advice also welcome.
What is the Best way to play PC only games on a mac. From what I have read I assume Boot Camp is the best, but am not quite sure. If I wanted to go the virtualization route, which would be better for gaming, VMware Fusion or Parallels?
I just installed bootcamp on my machine. I didn't think I would need to run both osx and xp at the same time but parallels is looking good to me right now. Since I already installed xp via boot camp, can I just download parallels from their site and be able to run both OS's at the same time, I could not find this information on their site.
Ever since I upgraded to 10.6 (clean install from Leopard), Ive noticed a strange but irritating issue here, it happens with several sites but here is an example:
MBP: Safari and Firefox: I cannot browse to [URL:...] MBP: Parallels running XP: no problems going to [URL:..] ok.. my old XP laptop as a last resort: no problems at all.
So what could be happening here, and what could I do about it. Tried rebooting my Macbook Pro 15" and AEBS and ADSL router.
With winter break approaching I was planning to get some PC games(COD:MW2, Battlefield etc) and play them during break but I'm not sure which software would be best to play those games. I've looked at VM Fusion, Parallels and Bootcamp but I'm still not sure as to the advantages and disadvantages of each. Is there a way i can use a playstation 2 controller to play pc games running through bootcamp? I've heard that I need some kind of an adapter but I've been unsuccessful in finding one so far.
If I could I would get rid of everything related to Microsoft but unfortunately I need to use Windows applications for my work. Specifically, Autocad Civil 3D, Revit Architecture and a bunch of structural engineering programs. I have tried running these applications on Parallels on Mac systems such as MacBook Pro Mid 2009 (2.93 C2D, 4gb ram) but was not satisfied with the performance. Autocad was lagging even when working in 2D. I don't even have to talk about Revit... I never had the opportunity to test this on more powerful systems and this is where I need your advice. Is it possible for the Mac Pro to run these applications on Parallels seamlessly? That is, as if you were running Windows on a PC? What is more important CPU, RAM, GPU? To catch up with a few possible comments, a) I don't want to run Windows via bootcamp, b) I am aware that Autacad is coming to Mac OS but I need the extra features of Civil 3D and Revit.
How do I uninstall ubuntu running trough virtual machine on my macbook. I wanna get rid of it but don't really know what to delete? is there uninstall app or something. I tried with my fried google but couldn't find anything.
Do I have to install a Windows 7/RC build on Bootcamp before I can use it with Parallels? Or if I already have it on bootcamp, I have to install it all over again with Parallels? And I was thinking of only having RC as my secondary OS until my Windows 7 disc comes. When that happens, do I just delete all my RC stuff from bootcamp to make room for Windows 7? I'd also lose all my documents and whatnot right since I can't upgrade to Windows 7 from an RC.
I received parallels 4.0 as a gift 2 months ago and did not install the software. But now, as win7 is out, I am really interested to get it installed, but is it recommended to run Win7 (64-bit) on Parallels 4.0 and not the latest version of Parallels? Sadly, I could not get it exchanged for parallels 5.0 in my local stores. Will it crash or lag my macbook pro? My system is 2.66GHz and 320GB, bought in oct 2009 mbp.
I have successfully transferred all my music from windows to my new iMac, but I am unable to drag and drop them into iTunes. I was told before purchasing that this would be no problem. I can play all the tracks individually but it uses Quicktime to play them. Am I missing something? How can I get them across to iTunes?
I cannot play downloaded TV shoes from iTunes. I get this message: "This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection)". I have an iMac 20 inch, early 2008 iMac8,1.
What measures can I take to either get HDCP on my display, or can I modify download specs from iTunes?
I have one program that I will have to run in boot camp. The rest of the time, I would like to run in Parallels. Will I have to install XP twice to do this and thus take up more hard drive?
I am running windows 7 on via parallels on my mac book pro with 2.26GHz and 2GB of memory and when I am running 7 the same time as leopard i get a lot of lag does anyone know why ?
I am having a very hard time installing doss 6.22 on my Mac. Why would I want too? Well cause of work, we have some a lot of old data at work that was collected over the years using dos programs and I need to go threw it and pull out what I need, when I need it. So having it on my laptop would be great. I have tried both Parallels & VMware with no luck. I can't get them to realize that I have a floppy drive, it's a usb floppy drive. I have 6gig of memory running snow lepoard. I have been thinking of trying the Sun Microsystem software but thought I would ask here first.
I am planning on installing Windows 7 on my new macbook pro. have a windows vista install cd and then a windows 7 pro upgrade dvd. If i install it on my new mac will it automatically block my laptop??? i have searched online and there are conflicting responses to this? Do i need to uninstall it? is it automatic?
I have installed Windows 7 using bootcamp with no problems. I now want to use parallel so I can do some things in windows without restarting. I don't want to get rid of the bootcamp install though since I do gaming through it. Now that I've installed Parallel it's asking if I want to use the bootcamp partition in the virtual machine? Do I? I don't really understand.
My wife was complaning about itunes not playing imported tunes all the way through. Thinking it was operator error I took a look and the actual mp3 files have been shortened somehow. I haven't checked all the tunes, but have checked a good many and a LOT of them are corrupt. How could this happen??? Itunes is playing the tunes correctly, it's the file itself that has been shortened.
