I am trying to save reworked raw and psd files as jpegs into a seagate hd and I'm getting an error message that reads no permission or authnorization to save. The hd was used on my pc and i need to use it between my pc at work and my mac at home.What can i do to use one hard drive with the two machines?

Does anyone know of a way to combine several jpeg files into one? I was going to use pdf, but the file size is too big.
Also, a PC shouldn't have any problems opening a jpeg (.jpg) file, right?
When I right click to save a picture online, it doesn't give me the opportunity to save something as a JPEG. I instead have to save it as a preview and then export it to JPEG. This seems like something relatively new.

What isalso weird is that I haven't used photoshop in months!So i have no idea what has caused this.

This morning, I decided to do some Spring cleaning on my Mac,and found a bunch of strange files, that were screenshots of webpages that I visited. I don't take screen shots, and these little things add up to a lot of space pretty quick. They all had long names too. I want to make sure they do not come back, so if anyone knows what I had, let me know how to stop them!
I bought a new iMac 3 weeks ago. I have plugged in my seagate HD from my windows laptop. I can extract files from my HD, but I can't drag any files into my HD. Am I best off reformatting my HD or am I best off using paragon NTFS for Mac.

I download the files from the Lacie external hard drive to the desktop and then upload to the seagate external...but I cant seem to drop it into the seagate hard drive. I am able to brings things from my seagate to the desktop but I need to upload the files from the Lacie to my seagate. Quicktime movies are on the Lacie and I need to get those movie clips to my seagate so I can use my PC to edit.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought a used late 2009 MacBook & Mac Mini HTPC loaded with apps/programs and this is my first run with Macs. The previous owner didn't restore them at my request as part of the deal, all of the software discs and serial numbers went with his other MacBook when he sold it and if I restore I will lose everything but iwork and snow leopard, I can't afford to buy new and don't want illegitimate copies of CS5 Master collection and tons of others that can't be updated. I have spent two days attempting to remove his what seem to be thousands of files, docs, etc and seem to be getting nowhere and don't want to accidentally remove any operating components either. Is it possible to delete the user that installed all this software to wipe out his info/files without losing the software itself? He is the only user besides "guests", "staff" and "everyone else", I renamed it once but it seems to revert when I go to another app?
View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically, before I started using AppZapper for complete removal of the programs, I was just doing the drag'n'drop thing to the Trash when uninstalling programs.
Now I do not wish to keep my MBP polluted with unnecessary cache and other "remnants" of the previous programs that might not have been removed completely by the drag & drop method.
I've downloaded CleanApp, but from the looks of things it seems just like another AppZapper type of a program - for deleting current applications. However, I'd need something to look for possible remains of my previously installed programs.
Is there such a program?

Why does my mac stop downloading files, copying to clipboard, saving files to desktop, etc?
iMac g5 1.9 ghz 17" running 10.5.8. Had a hard drive crash and bought a new one. Loaded new OS leapord. Everything works fine at first, but after the computer has been on for a while, it will stop downlading files, disk verify doesn't work. I can't copy and paste stuff. It seems as if the hard drive is full, but I have only used 32GB of 300GB.
When I restart, it works again, then slowly not. Is it an overheating issue? How do I know if my fan is running? Is it a bad hard drive I put in it? Bought it new with three year waranty.
I have a newly refurbished emac running the latest OSX 10.9.3. I used to be able to move images from iPhoto to the desktop and using Preview change the file size. I need to do this to upload images of a specific size to a website. Now Preview will not save the adjusted image size. I adjust the size from a 5 meg image to a 1.5 meg image but when I go to upload the image it is still 5 meg. I try saving it before closing it but it doesn't do anything (by the way I hate the new options or lack thereof when it comes to saving in Preview)
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis week my mac pro started to become flaky. Apps that I use all the time, started having problems saving, then they started having problems opening files. I could drag and drop files on an app and they would open. Cmd+S would sometimes save, sometimes not. If I closed the window without saving, I'd get the warning prompt, select OK to save and the file would save. Printing started flaking. Page setup comes up with a blank dialog, with Printer settings pulldown blank. Trying to print, either nothing would happen or the app would crash. I have run disk verfy - everything checks out. I have repaired permissions, I have run techtool pro. Nothing works. I have done a Cmd-Opt click to start apps for a fresh prefs file. It seems to have started with one app and is showing up in others, mostly Adobe/Microsoft apps, but now Open Office, too. I've had and diagnosed many macs over the years, but this one's got me perplexed. I've got Sophos Antivirus and nothing has been detected..

Up to now it hasn't bothered me much, but today I wanted to download iBank 4 Quick Start Guide. When I clicked on the link for the guide, Safari went to a pdf page and displayed the first page of the pdf. When I selected "Save As" it gave me a name for the file and the download destination. When I said OK, I got this error: The document “iBank_4_Quick_Start.pdf” could not be exported as “iBank_4_Quick_Start”. This happens for every pdf page I try to download. I get an error every time. The only work around I've found has been to right click (control click) on the button that takes you to the pdf file and select "Save linked file to the desktop" Safari used to allow you do a "Save As" for all pdf's.

Im using xcode in c++ language and I am having trouble finding the place to save my txt file so the program would recognize it.
The program displays the cout inside the if so its clearly not finding the txt file.
I opened the finder window (back when I could) and scrolled over on HD X infinity. I don't know why I did it. I guess just to see how many times it would fold over. Well I held down the arrow and it went hyperspeed.. made a loud buzzing noise then crashed. I shut off the computer and ever since then I cant open finder. Desktop or any folders that I search for through spotlight. What I would like to do would be to save all my files. Most importantly garageband files, pictures and video, itunes. I've tried to use a usb and external hardrive but I cant properly insert the files into the drive. And my cd drive doesn't work so I cant insert the install disk. I do have another ibook g4 and I've been hunting for ways to remedy the situation. My goal is to get everything back to normal and save my files.

It seems as if Safari no longer wants to save files which I view in the activity window + double click but instead just open them in another tab. Does anyone know why this is happening?
