ITunes :: Unable To Edit Its Nickname
Feb 9, 2012Using 10.5.3. When I go to Store>View my Account>Edit Nickname, type in a new nickname and click 'Submit', nothing happens. The page doesn't change or anything.

Jun 2, 2010I have been working on a project in iMovie for a few days, and it has been working perfectly. Today, I opened up my project and I could not play the project (the red line would move, but no picture would show up in the upper right hand corner box) and ALL of the options in the "share" tab were gray and unable to click them. Many options in the "edit" and "file" tabs were unable to be clicked as well.
Another project i completed months ago is working perfectly. The clips in the events play/show up on the window in the upper right hand corner

Nov 25, 2009I am using adium and the acc i use it msn. There is something wrong with the display name and nickname.
Everything time i log out. When i log back in. The display show my email address and not the other name before i log out.

When I log in to the 'My Apple ID' page and edit my details, it will not give me the option to edit my apple id. Is there something else that I need to do or once you have an apple id are you stuck with it?Â

Feb 1, 2012I'm trying to edit permissions on a folder via the Server App, and having some trouble. I can access all of the other folders on the shared volume and edit them just fine, but on one folder the OK button is always grayed out. Here's what I'm doing:Â In Server App, selecting the server under StorageChoosing the drive I want to editSelecting the folder I wantUnder the gear, choosing Edit Permissions.It shows me the list of users just fine and I can see that there's a problem, but no matter what changes I make it won't let me click OK. It also won't let me click + to add a new user.This works fine on all of the other folders on this same drive. Should I just reset all of the ACLs for that folder in the Terminal and try again?

Oct 3, 2009my MBP's hard drive just died. Disk Repair, DiskWarrior, and Disk Utility all agree my apple partition is screwed and unmountable.
I've been able to get it temporarily so that i can boot via an external drive. This is not my issue, my issue is that I have been working on a website for a company. It's been published and everything. My problem is that now that I lost the original files, am I going to be unable to edit it via iweb?
I have 5 days or so until my disk makes it to me (yeah, I'm overseas in an area without an apple store or service center to take my mac to), so I guess I'll find out for myself then.

When I went to open it today it would not open and I got the message "the file could not be opened because it is not in the right format". I don't remember saving it any differently, last time. The only thing I did was change the font to a larger size, a few minutes before I last saved it. Could it be that it then became such a large document that text edit can't open it or is there something else I might have accidently done.

Sep 24, 2009Used to run Flip4Mac Pro Version 2.2.3.7 with Quicktime 7 Pro on Leopard.Upgraded to Snow Leopard and got the 'Quicktime must be installed on this machine...' messages. OK, fair enough. Known issue.
Installed the Snow Leopard compatible 2.3.0.11-BETA with Pro licence but now have lost the ability to trim movies once they are opened in the Quicktime X window. However, if I navigate and open with Quicktime 7 Pro I can trim them.
Can anyone explain I should expect to happening and/or if this a bug or what?

Apr 4, 2012If you have a contact in Addressbook (AB) with a nickname, if you also use Apple Mail (AM) and create a new email and start to type the contact's email in the TO field, AM will finish your typing giving you a list of related possible email addresses to choose from. The problem is that in addition to the email addressk AM adds the contact's nickname as opposed to it's firstname/lastname or even business name. We need a preference for this, per contact.Â
Example:Â In AB you have a contact:Â
Name: Jon Doe
Company Doe Company
Nickname: The Doester
email: jon.doe@doecompany.comÂ
In AM you start to write an email:Â and type: "jon" and AM shows you a list of possible related emails one of which will be:Â "The Doester" [URL]Commentary: now if a casual email to a friend, this is OK. But what if this is a business oriented email and "The Doester" isn't appropriate? You can only stop the inclusion of "The Doester" by deleting it from the Nickname field in the AB. This is presumptuous on Apple's part, or a bug, that the Nickname should trump the first/lastname or company name.Â
I don't exactly know the answser to this. If we could easily choose which name to append in front of the email address (firstname/lastname, company name or nickname) that would be cool. Or maybe no name gets added if it has to be: all or nothing from a programming point of view. But having nickname as the primary, if it exists, can be a problem in certain correspondence IMHO.Â

Dec 11, 2009Like most people i have a lot of music and need a decent program to catalogue it all. iTunes seems to be the best candidate though i really cannot stand it's organisation heirarchy.
I already have my music organised into genre folders of my own but some of it has the wrong ID3 data attached to it. I'd love to use iTunes as a tool to sort these tags out but i don't want iTunes to move or copy any of my music (around 230GB) as i can't afford to lose the space.
A big chunk of my music are wavs and all MP3's are 320 bitrate (i play professionally). Has anyone worked out a way to do this?
I also haven't found out a way to tag Wavs, i know that natively wavs dont support ID3 information and someone mentioned a good thing to do is to convert to FLAC which does... but im not sure of an automated way to do this...
I have a saved library file on my macbook pro (where all my music is catalogued and organised fully with iTunes) which i'd love to migrate over to my PC - (being used as a data backup source) so i dont have to sort all these tags out again. Of course i realise this is probably not possible cue to the differeing locations of data between my MBP and PC, but i wonder if there maybe a shortcut to save me from having to edit everything twice?

Jun 12, 2010we all know that iTunes is a worthless turd, but maybe someone can help me figure something out before I get to the point of chucking my brand new MacBook Pro through the window.
When I go to rename a track or artist in this awful, awful software it almost always kicks me out of the renaming process, and since I'm merrily typing long it takes me to the first song in the library that starts with whatever letter I just happened to press.
Example:
I'm typing in "Bob Sinclar". I get through Bob and the space OK, but then as I'm about to his the S it kicks me out of the renaming process, I hit S, and the iTurd takes me to, say the first State of Shock song in my library.
It does this every! damned! time!

Dec 7, 2010I have a brand new MBP. I have a 1tb external drive with 250gb's of music. I have it attached to my mac via USB. I CANNOT GET ITUNES TO CREATE A NEW LIBRARY ON THE EXTERNAL DRIVE. I CANNOT DRAG AND DROP OR ADD FILE/FOLDER.
But get this, I hook it up to my old Dell and I can do whatever I want. I am friggin pissed that I spent all this money on Mac equip and can't get it going. You may have seen my other post where I posed my issue of: 1tb ethernet drive hooked to airport extreme. Above mentioned 1tb hooked up to back of it via usb. I am completely unable to copy, move, or add files using my mac. But guess what. my pc handles it easily and quickly.

Sep 1, 2010I recently upgraded my system HDD to an SSD with a new install of OSX 10.6.4 and mimicked the settings I had on my previous set up to replicate it. however, when for example I was using iTunes to play music the screen saver would come on and a short time later the system would pause iTunes and goes into Sleep mode.
my previous install never did that so I'm not sure if its because of the SSD and it not being mechanical it doesnt recognize it accessing or seeking 'per se' because regardless of unchecking "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" it still does it. here is an image of energy saver settings; btw I had the system plugged into and still went into sleep mode when iTunes was playing and even other media formats such as Video in iTunes or VLC.

Before it was annoying, having to purchase both the regular video and HD video, then delete the unwanted HD download from my queue list, but now it's a problem. I can't empty the unwanted HD downloads, and for me to download them all will tie up my connection for a week or more.

Jan 24, 2011I'm using iTunes 10 in Windows XP SP3 and it keeps locking up my computer. I can still move the mouse around, but it's like the screen has frozen and I can't close it through the task manager.
I have to do hard restart. I've tried virus and spyware scans, uninstalling and reinstalling and it still locks up.
