I've just joined mobile me and so copied my documents folder into iDisk. But when I edit a file or create a new one, iDisk doesn't update. Does this mean I now have to save all files twice?
View 2 RepliesI have been working on a project in iMovie for a few days, and it has been working perfectly. Today, I opened up my project and I could not play the project (the red line would move, but no picture would show up in the upper right hand corner box) and ALL of the options in the "share" tab were gray and unable to click them. Many options in the "edit" and "file" tabs were unable to be clicked as well.
Another project i completed months ago is working perfectly. The clips in the events play/show up on the window in the upper right hand corner
Since adding Growl 1.2 (no problem with earlier versions) I continually get a pop-up error message entitled "iDisk Error" that states "There is a problem syncing the file 'Growl.prefPane'. The destination (iDisk) does not support symlinks. Try compressing the file or folder first." I went to the Growl forum for help and was told that Growl doesn't use symlinks and that therefore the problem must be with MacOSX and/or File Sync or some configuration on my system. I'm using a late 2008 MacBook Pro, with max RAM and MacOSX 10.6.1. My only alternative right now seems to be to uninstall Growl.

When I went to open it today it would not open and I got the message "the file could not be opened because it is not in the right format". I don't remember saving it any differently, last time. The only thing I did was change the font to a larger size, a few minutes before I last saved it. Could it be that it then became such a large document that text edit can't open it or is there something else I might have accidently done.

When I select a folder in the browser view and hit the download button, it tries to make a zip. If the folder is really large, I get an timeone message in the browser pop-up. If it does finish making the zip and I select download, nothing happens.
Is the mobileme site just slammed right now? I'd love to download my files before they go away. BTW, the warning messages for the shutdown went into the spam folder.
I made an image of my Windows XP laptop drive using Macrium. I can see the image file there on one of my Mac Pro's internal drives, but Im not able to select in Fusion.. Is there a way to make a Fusion VM from this image? If not, how do I go about creating a VM from my laptops's HD? I'm using Fusion 2.6.

Quick question � do you know if there�s a way to let people upload files to your mobile me iDisk, without them having to enter your private account password in? Kinda like a public drop box? i have an itouch. i need a note and to-do program that i can edit on my imac, sync to my itouch and view/edit on my itouch when i an offline. i have evernote, but i can only see my Favorites on my itouch when i am offline. it does not separate the favorites by notebooks when offline. is there a program that wld do this? i wld like a todo list that also works offline, and syncs w/imac. i come from palm and the note program there did all this. is the new iphone/ in june supposed to have a note program that syncs with the imac?

I'm trying to configure my new Mac Pro in 10.6.1 and I'm having trouble opening iDisk.
I know iDisk has always been slow and flaky in OSX but this is just getting ridiculous.
After entering the name/password it just closes the window and does nothing??? Thanks in advance.
I have a Nokia N78 cellphone which I can sync to my Macbook Pro using iSync. This works fine for photos, iCal, contacts but I what I would like to do is to be able to back up and view my sms on my Mac. Does anybody know if there is anyway of achieving this (free if possible)? If not, can anybody recommend a phone (other than the obvious iPhone) that has this syncing capability with Macs? I am looking to update my phone soon anyway.

how do I create a file list and then create a way to batch rename in os x? I know the commands, but I don't know of a way to do it on more than one file at a time. I have found a few renaming apps but they all appear to be focused on just iterating up instead of renaming specific files to a new name.
I use a text edit file as a to-do list; however, it doesn't play nice. When I click on its icon, it pops up somewhere other than where I want it. I've tried "Preferences" and TextEdit help on and off line. I can't find any info on it. I'm probably not using the exact words that 'help' would recognize. I've tried saying "Simon Says" too, but that doesn't work either.

TextEdit[190:c0b] *** CFMessagePort: bootstrap_register(): failed 1100 (0x44c) 'Permission denied', port = 0x4403, name = 'com.apple.TextEdit.ServiceProvider' See /usr/include/servers/bootstrap_defs.h for the error codes. Using: sudo /Applications/TextEdit.app/Contents/MacOS/TextEdit /etc/hosts It does open the file, but it is empty. Should it be empty? I can not save it after editing it. But, if i use sudo open -t /etc/hosts OR $ sudo nano /private/etc/hosts It doesn't give me any error, and it also opens the HOSTS file. But its empty! Im using MAc Osx 10.5 Any ideas of what's going on?

View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter my macbook hard drive kindly failed on me, I ordered a new Seagate Momentus 5400.5, 320gb hard drive. I popped that sucker in this afternoon and began to start up my macbook with the OS X disc 1. Everything was going smoothly, except that it can't find the hard drive. It is recognized under my disk utility, but when I click to partition it, select options, select GUID, click 'OK', I can neither Name it 'Macintosh HD' or do anything else.
I can't proceed with anything because when it asks me to select a HD, the HD does not show up. Again, everything works except that the hard drive is not found. I pulled the hard drive out. Made sure the screws were alright. Made sure everything was all snuggly, and yet it still won't work.
I sent my files from my PC to a MAC in mp4 format. However, I cannot open the files with quicktime (only with VLC) and I cannot figure out how to edit the videos using iMovie because iMovie will not let my import them.
