View 1 Replies View RelatedI am looking for an affordable method of playing iTunes on my big screen HDTV. In other words, I just want to mirror whatever is on my iMac screen on my HDTV. So I want ALL the iTunes features like the visualizer, randomizer, etc. to work without a hitch. Some people were saying they can't get the visualizer to work smoothly. And of course I want quality audio so I can utilize the soundbar on my TV to play MP3s.
I do not own an Apple TV device but I own a Google TV device called the Vizio Co-Star.
I was not able to find a Google app to simply mirror what's on my iMac onto my TV screen.
I reseached and found that there are two apps I can purchase - AirParrot and Reflector. Is this the best way of achieving what I want to do? Do I purchase both of them on my mac or do I need to purchase one of these and install on my Vizio Co-Star?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm sure this has already been posted, and I apologize if it has, but a couple of searches turned up empty.Anyway, I just discovered this today and I'm praying this is a bug and not a "feature". When you click the pause/play button on the Apple Remote, iTunes opens and begins playing. The same thing happens when you hit the pause/play button on the media bar. I thought I was becoming dyslexic because iTunes kept playing randomly. It was only until today when I discovered this bug while playing a file in VLC. Apparently it happens with pretty much any app.

Would you like to locate it? A search doesn't find it.
This applys to every track on itunes but music files in the music folder in Finder still play.

None of my mp4 files play on iTunes or QuickTime, both of which are up to date. I have OS X 10.7.5. The mp4 files have all been added to iTunes movies. But when I click 'play', the window is all black / blank although the title of the video is shown in the header, and even the timer . Same with QuickTime.

A couple of years ago I loaded all my music onto a Macbook Pro and used iTunes to load it to my iPhone. Now my computer has been stolen and so I have bought a new one with Mavericks. I was told before purchasing that this would be no problem. I can play all the tracks individually but it uses Quicktime to play them. Am I missing something? How can I get them across to iTunes?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded music from solarseek, the files are "completly downloaded" never the less the files stay in the folder "uncomplete", the info details says "itunes Document" for each file, example of a files name , "02 brothers on the slide.mp3 - Hagafarta.solarseek".
I want them to play or to open, but they dont work on itunes, i downloaded manny files (songs) from different users on solarseek, so its not a problem of corrupted files.
iTunes freezing up a lot, can't add files/play media.Try to update to latest version, then App Store opens very slowly and just stays at blank gray screen. Both require force quit. I have read instructions by Linc in other discussions, and I have already tried the following:
-Logged in as Guest: Seems to work great.
-Logged in my profile in Safe Boot: Still have issues.
BTW, if I update iTunes under the "GUEST" login, will that update also show under my own profile?

I had deleted my files from iTunes media folder, but as luckily I had the same files located in other place I just copied them to the iTunes Media but iTunes rejects to play them (in my iTunes Library). I'm only able to play them if I go through the procedure as followings: Play - "iTunes unable to open this file because the original file not found. Do you want to find it?" (or smith like that) - Find - Open and then it plays, but I have to perform these actions with every file separately and I have quite a lot of them. Oh, and after that first popping-up window the next one appears "Would you like iTunes to find other missing files from the same location as [the file's name]?" But when I click on "Find" it says "iTunes were unable to find other missing files". Why? How do I accomplish the same task but with all my albums at once without necessity to add them one by one? Does there some way exists to tie the tracks from my albums with original files without importing them to my iTunes library?

I download an mp3 file. One of them is for a class I'm taking that has audio files as part of the course. If I double click in Finder on the file, it begins playing in iTunes and when done, iTunes goes on to play something else. While online is a live class, I did this and iTunes picked up a recording of a discussion I had recorded and played it aloud with my live mic to the entire class.
There are a number of things I hate about iTunes, this is but one. In general I use it without trouble. However, if I construct a playlist, when that list is exhausted it in some fashion known only to iitself and the developers chooses somewhere else to continue. It tends to think of itself as a super large iPod and keeps playing until I manually stop it. Since I have many days of audio in the library, this is not particularly sensible. What is the best way to play a single or small set of mp3 or other audio files and then stop? iMac with Mavericks 10.9.3
On my iMovie, i can't get asf, avi, or mov video files to work. It would only show up as a white screen and take 15 minutes to load to imovie. But when i convert my asf to mov with a converteri downloaded, it took like 1 hour for a 30 second video, it worked and only took like 1 minute to load on imovie??? Is there any video codec for my imovie or a really good video converter?

I used my hotmail email address as my Apple ID. But I am in the process of getting rid of this address as it receives too much mucky spam.
I have therefore changed my Apple ID to a new hotmail email address. I did not have any problems for a wk or so, but now when I click on the Mail icon, nothing happens. It is dead. Due to the time lapse, I don't even know if the two are related.
I have read that once you use an Apple ID, you can't use the new one for certain things. This is daft. Do I have to revert to my spammy old email address? But why after a wk is Mail acting dead? I have tried to change my Apple ID to my new one for my iCloud email address, which I now want to use for everyday use, but I can't see how I do it.
This problem only relates to my MacBook Pro. I can send and receive emails on my iPhone; and I have not even tried to change anything on it.
When I get into managing my Apple ID, Apple want to send me emails, but Mail isn't working. Now really fed up. Hackers must be really good, cos I can't get into my own emails!

I have written the applescript below to duplicate my Apple Lossless iTunes library as a MP3 Library. I wanted the script to be able to do the following things:
1. For all Apple Lossless tracks in iTunes Library (at the moment the script is just set to work with a selection for testing purposes) check if track already exists in MP3 folder with more recent modification date and:
a If yes, do nothing
b If same track with earlier modification date convert and replace track (so that tag changes are transferred)
c If track doesn't exist convert track.
2. If there are any MP3 files in the target folder that aren't in the source folder (i.e. the iTunes Music Folder), delete these files. This is for the scenario when I delete files from my iTunes Library that I no longer want, and I want the equivalent MP3 file to be deleted as well. So once the script has finished running there should be an exact match between the Apple Lossless library and the MP3 folder.
The script below does everything I want it to do with the following caveats:
1. I am not sure how to go about deleting the MP3 files as in part 2. I guess it would have to be an additional section of script which compares each file by name in the folder/subfolder in the iTunes Music Library with the equivalent folders in the target music folder, deleting any files found in the target music folder that don't exist in the iTunes Music folders, but I'm not sure if this is the best/only method, and how I would go about scripting this.
2. Because I need to specify the conversion twice (once if no file exists in target folder and once if it does but with an older modification date) I am wondering about using a subroutine method here. I tried doing so, but no conversions happened even though some should have happened. I wonder if this is because the relevant variables aren't picked up properly by the script when it's a subroutine. I can leave things as they are, just thought it would be good to make the script neater.
I recently changed my Apple ID. When I try to make changes to my iCloud account on my Mac., I cannot access the account via System Preferences. I've changed the password once already. My iPhone's iCloud account is fine. At this point my iCloud account no longer is working with my Mac.

I think I updated my adobe, and now all my good ole' word .docs are pdfs. Had a bunch on the desktop that only open with adobe as pdfs now. Definitely don't want to retype these papers! Is there an easy way to switch it all back to normalville?

Does that mean my Mac has been hacked or Apple has changed something on the previewer (version 4.1, 469.2.2) which came with Leopard? I also noticed that the wireless network connection has been very slow for the past two days.

I like the concept of TimeMachine and would like to use it; however, I have significant work that must be accessible to PC sys/appl, so I cannot format it apple-journaled (FAT32 appears best r/w solution for multi-platform). AppleCare advised there is no other incremental solution than that, and thus they don't have a solution I "search the web". Discouraging news for a recent migrator.

I am not clear how to do that in order to fix it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedStupid I know, but I saw my 'home' file was named root and for some reason thought it should be Home so I tried to change it.Meanwhile about half an hour later I had a power cut. On rebooting the computer, it logs me in to a default user with default settings.I know many people have done this before and I've been searching the net all day trying to do everything they say. The main difference is, the name wasn't changed and is still root therefore there is no 'old' file somewhere called home with all my files in that I can just swap over or change the name back to what it was before as most people seem to have been able to do.
