Software :: Unable To Play Avi Or Mov Files In Itunes / Video Converter Taking Long Time
Jun 2, 2008On my iMovie, i can't get asf, avi, or mov video files to work. It would only show up as a white screen and take 15 minutes to load to imovie. But when i convert my asf to mov with a converteri downloaded, it took like 1 hour for a 30 second video, it worked and only took like 1 minute to load on imovie??? Is there any video codec for my imovie or a really good video converter?

QuickTime :: Unable To Play Wmv Or Sometimes Mov Files?
Jun 3, 2012I have the latest QT and OSX software. I also have Perian installed. I upgraded my Flip4Mac to version 2.4.4.2 recently and now my QT will not play wmv files and sometimes it will not play mov files. I've never had trouble with QT before and have learned through online research that there has been an issue with a 3ivx codec that comes with Divx that everyone says to remove from the System/library/quicktime folder. I checked, and I didn't have that particular codec listed. I DO, however, have ALL of these codecs listed in my QT folder:

AppleVAH264HW.component

This seems like a lot of codecs, many of which I am unsure about. Could ANY of these be causing my wmv files (or my Flip4Mac) to be corrupt and unable to work?
OS X :: Unable To Play Itunes / System Goes Into Sleep Mode While Playing Itunes
Sep 1, 2010I recently upgraded my system HDD to an SSD with a new install of OSX 10.6.4 and mimicked the settings I had on my previous set up to replicate it. however, when for example I was using iTunes to play music the screen saver would come on and a short time later the system would pause iTunes and goes into Sleep mode.
my previous install never did that so I'm not sure if its because of the SSD and it not being mechanical it doesnt recognize it accessing or seeking 'per se' because regardless of unchecking "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" it still does it. here is an image of energy saver settings; btw I had the system plugged into and still went into sleep mode when iTunes was playing and even other media formats such as Video in iTunes or VLC.
Intel Mac :: Unable To Play AVI Files With QuickTime?
May 5, 2012I installed Perian and the xvid codec but still cannot play all AVI videos in QT. Not really a problem since I have VLC. However it would be nice to be able to play AVI files in QT as well

Jun 30, 2012I am starting a new thread because I am unable to play mov files in QuickTime X. This includes previously downloaded movie trailers from apple, mov files downloaded in itunes, mov files filmed on my iPhone or even files created from hd camcorder files. I am alo unable to play embedded QuickTime movies on the apple homepage, or play move trailers such as: [URL]Neither does the "download" option work. However if I force the files to play with QuickTime 7 or vlc, they play fine. If I use Firefox the embedded videos play ok, but in the example of trying to download the movie trailers still doesn't work.

However, every time I open any .WMV file, I get this error message: THE APPLICATION ATTEMPTED TO USE AN UNSUPPORTED FEATURE (Flip Player). I also attempted to play the files on Quicktime, but I get this error message: QuickTime Player can't open "XXXXX.wmv". I tried VLC also, but unfortunately did not work.

Jan 20, 2009Ive noticed that a couple of websites that have only .wmv available to download movies. I am running a Mac G4 with OS Tiger and Opera/Safari/Firefox for the net. I can easily play wmv's with my QTpro and or VLC.
The movies that I typically DL are usually 300 to 400 megs. They completely DL on my browser (Opera, Safari, or Firefox) after about 10 minutes or so. However once I DL the .wmv files onto my harddrive , they show up at only about 3 or 4 kb!!?? So thats about a total of like .2 seconds of play back!!?? Therefore one second of total playback.I believe this is not an Apple vs Windows issue, but something else. Any ideas?

Mar 27, 2012My 13" MacBook Pro will not play media files. Also, on iphoto, images are unable to be exploded. Interestingly, it is no longer running hot (as it has since installation of Lion a few months ago).

Apr 21, 2012I have a 2011 Mac Mini running the latest version of Mac OS-X and iTunes, output to a Samsung D6530 Television and for some reason I can't seem to play HD movie or TV show content purchased through iTunes. 99% of the time I don't get any error message at all, just a scrambled signa (sound is fine)l however, the one time an error message did appear it suggested the TV did not support HDCP (High Def Content Protection). Looking at the documentation that came with the TV it does support HDCP so I can't figure out why it doesn't work.

Jun 9, 2012I am unable to play certain songs since itunes wants me to authorize the computer with an old email address I had when I first bought the songs. I don't remember that password and when I use my present Apple id and password it doesn't authorize the computer to play those songs. Apr 21, 2012I purchased an entire album on iTMS, on my Mac(Lion), and all but one track will play on iTunes, and iPhone4(iOS 5.1). I've additionally downloaded the purchased album on another Mac(Snow Leopard), and all tracks play, except the one track in question. When I go to play this song, it prompts me to 'authorize' the track to be played. I put in the correct info, and it does NOT play. This happens on each device. There were no iterruptions in any of the downloads of the tracks.
I purchased this music and I want to be able to listen to it! Apple

Sep 8, 2014None of my mp4 files play on iTunes or QuickTime, both of which are up to date. I have OS X 10.7.5. The mp4 files have all been added to iTunes movies. But when I click 'play', the window is all black / blank although the title of the video is shown in the header, and even the timer . Same with QuickTime.

Dec 7, 2010I have a brand new MBP. I have a 1tb external drive with 250gb's of music. I have it attached to my mac via USB. I CANNOT GET ITUNES TO CREATE A NEW LIBRARY ON THE EXTERNAL DRIVE. I CANNOT DRAG AND DROP OR ADD FILE/FOLDER.
But get this, I hook it up to my old Dell and I can do whatever I want. I am friggin pissed that I spent all this money on Mac equip and can't get it going. You may have seen my other post where I posed my issue of: 1tb ethernet drive hooked to airport extreme. Above mentioned 1tb hooked up to back of it via usb. I am completely unable to copy, move, or add files using my mac. But guess what. my pc handles it easily and quickly.

Sep 11, 2014iTunes freezing up a lot, can't add files/play media.Try to update to latest version, then App Store opens very slowly and just stays at blank gray screen. Both require force quit. I have read instructions by Linc in other discussions, and I have already tried the following:
-Logged in as Guest: Seems to work great.
-Logged in my profile in Safe Boot: Still have issues.
BTW, if I update iTunes under the "GUEST" login, will that update also show under my own profile?
