IMac :: Logitech Speakers Hooked Up - Sound Not Good

Aug 7, 2010

I just hooked up my logitech speakers to my IMac and they don't sound as good as they did on my pc. On my pc there was some settings that were the Realtek that had a bunch of audio options that made it sound much better. Is there anything like that for a mac? I can't find anything like that in the apple menu settings.

Power Mac G5 :: Recommendations For Good Sound System (speakers) For G5? -Or Audio Card?

Dec 9, 2007

I'm coming from a good 7-8 years with an old G4, so forgive the ignorance. On that one, I added a PCI audio card to connect with some Altec Lansing speakers with Sub-woofer & simulated Surround sound. It sounded great. hat's your suggestion? Get a similar card for the G5?Or get some new speakers that will sound as good?I don't know anything about digital audio out. Does that connect to speakers, or only tuners?

Information:
G5 tower

MacBook :: Horrible Noise Emitting From Pro Speakers / Fix It?

Jan 11, 2010

I recently got a brand new 17' unibody MacBook Pro. Although it was brand new, there have been a flare ups. The last time I had the problem, (note: it is always while watching a YouTube video) this is what I captured before quickly closing the window. http://grab.by/1Gjt

That was New Years day. The first time I experienced this problem, I got nothing on the YouTube player and while skipping throughout the video to get it to stream, a noise that can't even be explained screamed out of the computers speakers. Today, I just had the same problem. I have no clue what it is except that I do know it comes from the speakers. Could anyone elaborate on if something similar has happened to you?

IMac :: Internal Speakers No Good?

Oct 7, 2009

I bought a new iMac a couple of weeks ago, it's my first alu one but I've had two of the white plastic ones before. The sound from the internal speakers in my old iMacs is pretty acceptable for day to day usage (not playing music of course), but the new one sounds horrible... extremely tinny. So is this just what they're all like these days? If not I guess it's got some issues:-/

MacBook :: High Frequency Ringing Sound When Both External Monitor & Speakers Are Connected?

Jan 8, 2009

I searched the archives and I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet! This is a huge problem on both my Rev A and my new Rev B. When you connect an external monitor and external speakers using the headphone output, there is a high frequency ringing sound coming out of the speakers. I've managed to live with it by turning the treble to minimum and keeping the volume low enough but at the expense of sound quality. The strange part is, if you disconnect the monitor, the ringing sound stops. The problem only occurs if you have speakers and monitor plugged in at the same time. I've tried this on my Samsung monitor, my SONY TV, and my Panasonic audio receiver. The problem occurs with both Rev A and Rev B while my white MacBook and 2007 MacBook Pro all sound fine.

Hardware :: Hard Time Selecting Good Desktop Speakers For IMac

May 4, 2009

I'm looking at getting some good quality speakers for my new iMac. My budget is up to about $250. So far I've auditioned the following speakers;

1. Logitech Z2300. These sounded boomy and mushy to me. They are a good value though at around $150.

2. Bose Companion 3. I like the little hockey puck remote unit. They sounded very weak on mid-range. Surprisingly good low end output though.

3. Audio Engine A2. I really, really, really like these speakers. Until I play something with a lot of low end in them, then they just start farting because they can't handle anything under 100 hertz very well.

What I would really like to do is get the Audio Engine A2 and pair them up with a subwoofer at a later time, but in their short sightedness Audio Engine didn't put line outputs from the A2 so from what I can see there is no way to get them hooked up to a subwoofer.

Software :: Horrible Cracking Sound With Screen Captures?

Jun 8, 2008

Sometimes (about one-fifth of the time) when I do a screen capture (using Command-Shift-4) there is a horrible loud cracking in place of the camera clicking sound. I have a pair of Yamaha speakers which are about nine years old but they work fine otherwise, no static, play iTunes great, etc.

Is there a setting I can change that would obviate this from happening? It's getting on my nerves because I'm starting to expect it each time, even though it's the exception rather than the rule. Or does it mean my speakers need to be replaced? I don't do anything musically-intensive on my iMac so I can change settings, but I would like to keep a decent basic level of stereo output.

I'm using a first-generation 1.8GHz 20" iMac with 10.4.11, but will probably upgrade to Leopard sometime this summer.

I just got my iMac yesterday, and its been awesome, but I have one question. The classic "bong" sound at startup, I know that is the result of a successful POST, but mine didn't do one after the 1st startup. I had speakers plugged in to it when I started up the 2nd time, and no sound. I unplugged the speakers, and I got the sound. Is that normal or do I need to contact Apple? I jut want to make sure nothings wrong with my iMac. I checked the POST results in System Profiler and it said Passed.

OS X :: IMac G5 Speakers Don't Seem To Be Able To Handle High Pitched Sound In A Movie?

May 20, 2010

I have a 24" aluminum iMac G5. I have never had a problem with sound before, and feel like this problem is isolated to a certain DVD but the DVD works on EVERY other player I own. Everything pretty much plays DVDs, so that's many!

So here's my problem: There's parts of this movie that have very high pitched sounds, like electronic sounds that are just sound effects in the movie. Whenever I get to those parts in this movie (maybe even other movies for all I know, I don't play many) and the sound goes quiet, like the speakers can't handle that high pitched sound.

I feel there must be something I can do about it, right? I just use the regular default DVD player application that pops up when I put a DVD in. I tried playing with that equalizer but nothing changed.

PowerPC :: Mac G5 Dual-Core 2.3GHz - Sound Card Needed For 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers?

Jul 24, 2008

I'm pretty new here, though I posted over a year ago here with a few questions as a beginning switcher. My switch completed in Christmas of 2005 with a late '05 Power Mac G5 Dual-Core 2.3GHz with 1GB RAM and 250GB HDD. I decided to get another monitor and it is a Sony 19" LCD one. I also didn't get any speakers since I used headphones a lot at the time. I recently decided to start using speakers. So temporarily, I am using the Altec Lansing BX1120 2.0 Stereo speakers from Walmart for only $15. They sound great but I would like 5.1 surround sound to watch my DVDs (and to soon upgrade to BluRay & SACD/DVD-A; but that's for another thread later on). Before I go on, I would like to ask questions and provide facts with what my 'puter has. My specific products I'm looking for is at the bottom of this message.

MacBook Pro :: What Would Be A Good Monitor To Pair

Oct 9, 2010

I want to pair my MBP (high res antiglare) with a 24" monitor. The colour levels on the MBP are really good and I'm a little worried about buying a monitor and setting them up side by side and not having the two match in terms of quality.

Can anyone recommend a good monitor that is of equal quality to the MBP antiglare screens? I've read good things about the Dell ST2410 which is within my budget.... if really pushed I could go for the U2410 but would really rather not spend that much. Are there any other monitors that are cheaper than the U2410 that have 'mac mode'?

Hardware :: Looking For A Good Monitor Stand

Oct 26, 2010

I am trying reorganize my desk a bit I am looking for a good monitor stand (I guess this is what you would call such an accessory) . I have a 15" mbp and a 20" external dell monitor. Right now I just have my macbook sitting beside my monitor in clam shell mode. It occurred to me that this is a giant waste of good desk space. The solution I have pictured in my head is some kind of stand that I can put my monitor on that has enough space under it for my closed mbp (with enough space for decent ventilation too). So if anyone knows of a nice stand that would do that, I would love to hear about it.
