Jun 1, 2008For some reason, I can't get Logic Express 8 to output audio to my Mac's attached speakers. It outputs fine through my M-Audio interface, though, but I'd just like to listen without headphones.

IMac :: Internal Speakers No Good?
Oct 7, 2009I bought a new iMac a couple of weeks ago, it's my first alu one but I've had two of the white plastic ones before. The sound from the internal speakers in my old iMacs is pretty acceptable for day to day usage (not playing music of course), but the new one sounds horrible... extremely tinny. So is this just what they're all like these days? If not I guess it's got some issues:-/

Aug 7, 2010I just hooked up my logitech speakers to my IMac and they don't sound as good as they did on my pc. On my pc there was some settings that were the Realtek that had a bunch of audio options that made it sound much better. Is there anything like that for a mac? I can't find anything like that in the apple menu settings.

May 4, 2009I'm looking at getting some good quality speakers for my new iMac. My budget is up to about $250. So far I've auditioned the following speakers;
1. Logitech Z2300. These sounded boomy and mushy to me. They are a good value though at around $150.
2. Bose Companion 3. I like the little hockey puck remote unit. They sounded very weak on mid-range. Surprisingly good low end output though.
3. Audio Engine A2. I really, really, really like these speakers. Until I play something with a lot of low end in them, then they just start farting because they can't handle anything under 100 hertz very well.
What I would really like to do is get the Audio Engine A2 and pair them up with a subwoofer at a later time, but in their short sightedness Audio Engine didn't put line outputs from the A2 so from what I can see there is no way to get them hooked up to a subwoofer.

Apr 16, 2010I really would like to get the cheaper, lighter, smaller, more portable 13" if at all possible. However, I need it to smoothly run Final Cut Express (I do some video editing for work) and Logic Express (I'm a full time musician). I travel a lot with my computer and my current 15" 2.16GHZ MBP has always been a bit bulky and heavy, and lags a bit when using Final Cut.
Will I get smooth performance running FCE and LE with the 13", and will it be a capable computer (keep up with updated software) for the next 4 years or so? I'd probably max out the RAM and maybe get a faster processor if I was to settle on the 13". If not, I'm looking at having to get the 15", any suggestions on which 15" model would be the best for me in terms of what I need it for? Would I be set with a lower end 15"?
Intel Mac :: Why Can't Renew Apple-care Plan After The Initial Plan Has Expired
Feb 2, 2012Bought my IMac a year ago, got the applecare plan and am good until 2014; however, it would be great if I could renew my applecare plan after the initial plan. or just before, the plan expires. The applecare staff is great to deal with, but it's a nice feeling to know that I can access them after the first 3 yrs. of ownership. I bought my IMac with the knowledge that I wouldn't need to upgrade my hardware as often as I did with a PC, and although I understand I can still recieve assistance on a case by case basis, it would be easier, and more cost effective, to have the option of extending my plan if I choose to. Just a thought. and am hoping that Apple will listen and offer something for its customers like this. Am an owner of the IMac, and IPad2, Ipod touch and will be buying an IPhone 5 when they are released.

Apr 23, 2010Last week I ordered my Macbook Pro with the 2.4 Ghz cpu and I was quite sure the cpu will do the application. But now I've read some threads about Logic Studio, where people say that Logic supports Hyperthreading and therefore I doubt that my macbook will last for the next years. Maybe a better cpu will last longer.
The problem is that I cannot cancel my order anymore .
What do you think about the cpu's in reference to Logic and what would you do?
MacBook Air :: Will Replace The Logic Board A Second Time Good?
Jul 20, 2010I bought a refurbished first gen MBA about a year and a half ago. (It's under applecare for another 1.5 years). I have had terrible problems with video playback and trying to do the even most mild editing in Aperture and iMovie. Also, the screen is sometimes scrambled: Black chunks will appear like holes in the desktop image; The menubar will get scrambled; or safari will have weird misalignments around the toolbar/url.
Apple replaced the logic board about 6 months ago. I've continued to have these problems. I took it to the genius bar again today and the rep told me it was a problem with the graphics card and that they would replace the card. Then he said the logic board would be replaced since the logic board is fused to the video card.
That confused me. If the card is fused to the logic board, then it must have already been replaced the last time. He agreed, but at the same time assured me that this time it would somehow be different. I wasn't going to argue with him, but I have low expectations for any real results in improving performance.
Can anyone clarify for me what he was talking about? Am I wrong to believe that a second logic board replacement (and thereby a second graphics card) will solve the issues I am having?
OS X :: Updated To Os X To 10.4.10 / Logic Express Keeps On Crashing
Jan 6, 2011Everything was working fine until I updated osx to 10.4.10 and now Logic Express keeps on crashing. The track starts playing fine then the core audio overload message appears then the program crashes when theres very little strain on the system. Ive attached the full error message... If anyone knows what the problem is please let me know.

When I first did this a few weeks ago, there were many options such as hip hop mastering, electronic mastering, etc.
Now, when I do so, I have different - much less enticing options and have no idea where the good ones went.

I use a Pre Sonus Firepod as my audio interface (not sure if that's even relevantWhen I begin playing too many notes (especially after pressing the sustain), the piano (Garage Band grand piano .exs) starts to cut out. It sounds like BAD static, as if the MIDI were overloading Logic. I've tried changing the buffer size in audio preferences - it gets no better, only worse when I lower the size (32 being nothing but static).

It, however, is missing something crucial - a noise sweep or build-up or shwoosh sound, etc. I need that "airplane take off" sound that builds up before the bass hits. I am finally upgrading to a MacBook Pro sometime around January, and I am as excited as can be. I do some messing around with audio, but nothing too serious, just things for fun and to show people, every now and then for a school project etc...
Mainly playing with samples and I'm looking to get more into it, and start some amateur DJ mixing.
That being said, I'm debating between Logic Express 8 and Garage band (plus several Jam Packs: Remix, Symphony Orchestra, World Music and Rhythm Section) since Logic would be cheaper.

Feb 3, 2010I have a yamaha mm6 keyboard which I have connected to my mac using midi, in logic express it shows that it is detecting the notes, yet nothing plays through the laptop speakers! I am selecting external midi when I make a new track btw. If I record something it even shows the notes as I play, but no sound. I want to use the instruments on the keyboard but don't know how to do this. Also I have a boss dr 670 drum machine and I can't get that to work at all in logic, the keyboard worked if I used a software instrument in logic. I want to also use the drums from the machine and things like it's quantizing, but I can't get logic to pick it up at all.
