View 3 RepliesAs title says. I can no longer hold option to boot into bootcamp (fairly old issue - I tihnk it's my keyboard), so I just use startup disc preference pane. Today, Windows does not show up. I downloaded bootchamp and it also gave me an error when trying to restart....any ideas at all? I can't do anything with the bootcamp partition in the disc utility.
EDIT: Opening the bootcamp assistant gives me :""Boot Camp Assistant cannot be used: You must update your computer's boot ROM firmware before using this setup assistant".
Note I was in win7 earlier today without issue....
When I first connected my macbook pro to the wifi i accidently connected it to the wrong wifi network, I reconnected to my correct network but now everytime I turn on my computer it tries to connect to the wrong wifi, and any ideas how to change the default wifi or the prefered network?

In short I have a 480GB SSD by OWC. The audio alone, according to "About This Mac", is over 581.14GB... Something is obviously not adding correctly.Â
I must admit, I had a couple of iPods that I downloaded music from to a VMware running Mac OS 10.9.4. The host OS is something that I can't mention...
I used the Hudini for Mac on the 10.9.4 WMware OS to unhide the music.Â
Since I noticed this disc usage inaccuracy. I've deleted most of the music. Because at one point it was showing over 1TB for the audio.
I've also did a command R at start up and ran Disc Permission and Repair.
I also turned off Time Machine, reboot, turned TM back on, reboot. (Someone else had the opposite disc usage and this worked.)Â
My next thought is to delete the Mac OS 10.9.4 via VMware, as this was where I originally downloaded the music from an iPod. I went through the music and transferred over to the host OS the selection that I wanted to keep. When I Get Info on the music app via Mac OS X ssd â–¸ Users â–¸ KOT â–¸ Music â–¸ iTunes â–¸ iTunes Media it comes up with a little over 17GB. Â

I changed the language to English under the "language and region," setting in system preferences, and Mac Os seems to be all in English. Â
However, when I restart the computer and enter disc utility, the language is still in Spanish, and I can't figure out how to change it.Â
In the upper right hand corner there is a US flag that says, "Estadounidense", but I don't know if it this is a country or language setting. Â How I can change Disc Utility to English?

i am really shocked with iTunes. I have just bought my mother an 160GB Classic and am starting to rip her entire music collection which is at least 100CDs.. however sometimes for albums iTunes gets mixed up with disc 1 and disc 2 and labels them wrong and sometimes does [disc 1] and (disc 2)... it should be consistent not mixing brackets... i have had to edit the tags manually..
View 24 Replies View RelatedBoot camp went wrong because I had to reboot my macbook while windows 7 was being installed. After that, I deleted the 32gb windows partition. But guess what? Disk utility says that my free space is 468 gb, when before boot camp I had 493gb.
View 3 Replies View RelatedPurchased this notebook used, but very nicely cared for, excellent condition. I ran the Apple Hardware Test and everything passed including the logic board.
The battery has 500+cycles. The problem is laptop shuts down at 50% or less of battery. Clock is wrong at startup but is correct a few seconds later.
Runs forever and very nicely on ac power.
Please take pity on a confused newbie. I'm running 10.4.11 (Tiger) on a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 13" Macbook with 1GB ram. My school requires me to run Bootcamp to take my exams. They told us that we need 10.5 minimum OS and must have our 'original system discs'. The installation dics that I have are for Tiger. If I buy an upgrade disc to Leopard/SL, will that contain the windows drivers I need to install after I install bootcamp? Or do I need to buy a full installation disc of Snow Leopard (since I think you can't buy the Leopard full installation anymore)? Another issue someone mentioned is that both Leopard & SL require 1BG ram minimum, which is what I have. I'm worried the os will run very slow, but I don't really have the money to buy new ram and get it install (and don't want to crack the fragile top case) now that I have to buy the new software too.
View 7 Replies View RelatedStill a new mac user and have been playing around getting to know os x. The other day I was modifying my dock settings and have got it to a place which I'm happy with, apart from one problem. I was experimenting with different trash icons but decided to stick with the original so changed them back. Now, every time I shutdown and reboot, the trash icon is showing up as one of the trash icons I was experimenting, regardless of whether or not there is anything in the trash. If the trash has something in it, the wrong icon will be displayed before automatically switching to the correct one. However, if the trash is empty on startup, I have to put something in it, then empty the trash before the correct icon shows up. I have checked that I have deleted all the icons I was experimenting with but it seems like it the unwanted icon has been saved somewhere in memory and is the default trash icon on startup? Any ideas on what's going on or how to fix the problem?

When I shutdown my computer, all the applications are launched by default. I have unchecked the option "Reopen windows when logging back in". When I go to my login items in the preferences system, any application is present and when I click right and go to the options tab, the option "Open at login" is unchecked. The applications who are launched are Mail, NetNewsWire, Chrome and iTunes.Â

Onyx tells me to use disc utility to repair my hard drive.
To do this, I need first to start up from the install disc (CD).
It's been so long since I've had to do this that I've forgotten--
I go to System Preferences and choose the CD as startup disc, but then it wants to re-install the OS-- not what I want!
I seem to remember I need to hold down some key or other while it's starting up-- but which?
I promise to write down the answer so I won't have to ask again

View 3 Replies View Relatedhow I can disable one of my video cards in my MacBook pro. The better of the two recently crapped out, or at least if am able to get it to turn on and can login to switch to the other video card it works fine.
Basically the screen glitches up and freezes the computer. I think it could have potentially taken damage from possible prolonged over heating from high temperature spaces, and a lot of dirty air over time blocking the vents. (after multiple cleanings)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need your help please. It all started when I was trying to install Windows XP under Boot Camp on my Macbook Pro (Leopard). I followed the manual and made the partition for Windows (32GB), but when I inserted Windows XP Install CD and had to choose partition to install it on, there was just one that seemed to be my Leopard startup disc (it had some 120GB). I did not know what to do, so I just left the installation process and the notebook restarted. When it loaded, it was trying to boot from the Windows CD so I tried to install it, but same problem appeared -> restart. I tried to load Leopard by holding Option key while loading, but only options for windows and windows cd appeared, no Leopard -> Shut down. While booting, I force-ejected the CD by holding down trackpad button -> blinking underscore on black screen appeared. I shut the MBP down by holding power button and inserted Leopard Install CD. When it loaded, I booted from the CD by holding Option key. This time I was ready to even re-install Leopard just to make it work but when I had to chose the harddisk to install Leopard on, there was none. It seems to me that somehow nobody can see the harddisk and I have no idea what to do with it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I tried to restore my MacBook Pro from the Disc Utility and now that it had completed restoring and erasing the old data opff the HDD, my MBP doesnt even recognize that there is a HD in it! I tried to select the HDD using the "hold OPTION key at startup" ordeal and shows absolutely no drive what so ever, even though I restored it from a backup HDD. Before it would show just a loading Apple gray screen and go nowhere, but i was still able to 'see' the drive with the OPTIONS key startup. Now when I do the selectable drive startup it shows NOTHING but a blank folder, with a question mar, flashing on the screen.

2 days back I started getting this message "startup disc is full" I have aperture for my photos and deleted all the duplicates which should have freed up a lot of space. After deleting files when I go back and check it is still full.I have deleted files from Aperture trash and the trash on the toolbar also.Is this a virus? I personally dont think I have enough files to fill up 500GB, probably around 200 GB.
