May 29, 2012I use Safari 5.1.7 and Adobe Reader 10.1.3. I have mac osx.6.8 which, according to Adobe, is compatible with Adobe Reader 10.1.3. Selecting a pdf file to display results in a black page.

Oct 26, 2010i received my new 27" ACD. This display is amazing! I use it on my Mac Pro 2008. No dead pixels, audio is working and iSight worked too. But after installing the "Software-Update for LED Cinema Display 1.0" my iSight is not working anymore!
Only black video window in iChat and FaceTime. And the green LED next to the iSight is off.
Seems that the iSight is not starting.

May 14, 2012all of a sudden i can't add any bookmarks anymore using the plus sign next to URL. searched many websites which offer adequate solutions to fix but i cannot follow as folders/files can't seem to be found. I even had trouble finding the safari folder as it don't exist under library- may be clueless but i seem to have 2 folders for library: one under macintosh hd, the other under the system folder. also can't find the bookmarks.plist file either using spotlight. some sites say locate the com.apple.safari file, which seems to be missing in either cache folders, example of what is there is com.apple.components2.localcache.audiocomponents etc.... its frustrating especially when you find a good website to add to an already organised bookmarks folder.Â
NOTE- i did find safari folder via spotlight but within it was 2 folders of bookmarks and history and both don't have the bookmarks.plist file and only endless "webbookmarks..."Â

Safari :: 5.7.1 Does Not Load Pdf Pages Anymore?
May 19, 2012I upgraded to Safari 5.7.1 and after that I cannot load pdf pages any longer. Prior to that version, pdf pages would load as usual in "Safari" format. Now, if I want to see the pages I need to control click the URL and ask for the pdf document to be copied in a folder. I can always go back to the previous version with Time Machine.

Apr 15, 2012Suddenly my iMac won't open most .PDF files - specifically those that are imbedded in the body of emails or may be identified by a hotlink on websites. But if one is simply attached to an email, that seems to open? The only thing I think I've done since everything worked properly was to agree to install Adobe Reader 10.1.3 and Adobe Flash Player. rectify whatever error I'm experiencing so that I can open .PDF files once again?Â

May 19, 2012I can't view pdf files from my iMac anymore. I tried it with 3 different browsers-Safari, Frefox, and Camino and it made no difference except that with Safari I got a black webpage and with the others just a blank page. I uninstalled Adobe Reader and reinstalled it it but that didn't help. I've enable cookies on all the browsers.

QuickTime :: Will Not Play Wmv Files Anymore
Jun 10, 2012I've had QT with Flip4Mac, Perian, Flash payer installed (as well as the older version of QT 7 where I can do easy edits), and it seems that when I click to open a wmv file as I have a million times in the past, QT says that the operation cannot be completed and the movie doesn't play.Â
What has caused this to happen? It seems like it stared right after I updated my Flip4Mac...now using 2.4.4.2. how to get my wmv files to play again? I'd certainly appreciate any pointers.

Mar 8, 2010I don't know what happened, but somewhere along the line Safari simply stopped playing video for me. What's weird is that Youtube does work, yet none of the videos at, say, Gamespot.com work. I can't play Apple's brand-new iPad ad either, located here:

Of note is that I do have ClickToFlash as well as BashFlash installed, but that never was a problem before. The videos that do not work in Safari all work, without exception, in Chrome Beta, Firefox and Opera.

Jun 9, 2010It worked fine for a couple of hours, now it won't even load anymore. Can't delete the application from my hard drive because it says I don't have permission. Fixed the permissions but it still won't delete. Tried downloading it and re-installing and it still doesn't work.

Mar 19, 2012I have been happily using Safari for a long time as a photographer because it was great at properly rendering images online with embedded color profiles.With the latest update, it appears to have stopped. Firefox 10 renders the image properly, but I would like to know if this is an issue with my systems o if other people are running into this with the latest update.
I have attached an example screenshot with FF 10 on the right and Safari 5.1.4 on the left. The rendition on the right is correct, with more red saturation in the glass and logo and less muting of colors overall.I have reset Safari and dumped the entire prefs folder but having the same issue.

Safari :: Printing Of Pdfs Does Not Work Anymore
Apr 17, 2012when opening a pdf in Safari I used to be able to press the right mouse button and could choose between printing and opening the pdf in Preview. This dialog seems to have disappeared (a new dialog with loads of unusefull crap like choosing tools is now shown instead). Most importantly, however, I can't print the pdfs anymore when using Safari's menu print (the pdf is o.k. it all works in firefox and opera). While the dialog opens correctly, only a blank document is printed. Also the export as pdf option does not work anymore.I'm running an Imac with mac os x lion, most recent updates installed. Safari 5.1.5

Jun 13, 2012Suddenly about 5days ago, Safari suddenly stopped loading my homepage, uk.yahoo.com - which has been my Homepage for years. I thought it was perhaps a Yahoo problem, but apparently not, as Safari loads any other page from my favorites etc without any hitch, meaning its clearly not an ISP problem either. I did find a thread that suggested un-ticking the 'Restore Windows' box in the General section in System Preferences, (not Safari Preferences), but I cant see a General tab in System Preferences? Additionally, I have deleted Safari, and reinstalled it, but problem still exists. I'm running OS X 10.5.8 and Safari version 5.0.6.

Apr 22, 2012I've used to play .sdp files on Quicktime Player 10.0 on Snow Leopard.
After I've updated to Lion, Quictime Player got updated to 10.1 and it no longer recognizes .sdp files. It gives an error message with "Quicktime Player cannot open files in the "OpenOffice.org 1.0 Presentation" format."Â
The same sdp file plays well on Windows version of QuickTime Player, and if I boot to Snow Leopard, it works on QT Player 10.0. Is there a way to fix this problem and let the QuickTime Player recognize the .sdp files again?Â

Mar 24, 2010when I lost my entire collection of PC games, I've gone through the process of making a .iso file of all of the games I've purchased. I have a few games in .iso files sitting on my mac desktop. For some reason, I cannot install Windows Vista on bootcamp anymore, as whenever I try to start up, I get an error saying something like the file "Wmilib" is missing or something, and I can't repair it using the startup disk no matter what. Which leads me to crossovers. I spent my money on it, and am hoping I didn't waste it. Whenever I tell Crossover to load from my mounted .iso file, and hit the "proceed" button, it takes me to the top drop-down menu, where it asks me to select a program to install.
The only problem is that I want to install from my mounted .iso file, and not from the list of supported programs, which is stupid. I've also tried just directly opening the "Setup.exe" file right with Crossover, and that still does nothing, which is very frustrating. Is it even possible to install games on crossover using a .iso file? And if so, what am I doing wrong, that whenever I hit "proceed" button it takes me right to the list of supported software and WON'T LET ME INSTALL without choosing one?

Nov 12, 2008I did do a search on this problem, but i started a new thread b/c I think i may be having a slightly different issue...please hear me out..I have a Macbook, running Mac OS X Tiger (version 10.4.11). I have had a 500 GB external HD (MyBook) hooked up to it (via USB) for the past 4 months or so, never really had any issues, was always able to transfer files, no problem.However, today i suddenly ran into some serious problems. I tried to transfer some pictures to the external drive and after copying 200 or so files it gave me an error, said a specific file could not be transferred (specifically it said "the Finder could not complete the operation because some data in "IMG_3435.JPG" could not be read or written. Error Code - 36 "). At first I thought maybe that specific file was corrupted or something but i checked it out and it looked fine. So I then I tried transferring another folder of pictures, and then I got the same error right away (after transferring 3 files), for a different file. And now i'm at the point where I can't transfer ANY files to my external HD anymore! (T_T). And it's weird, when i transfer folders, it will transfer the folder itself but not the files.

I found something online about disabling a pdf plug-in, but it was for Lion, so not sure if it's still the correct fix. Also, how to uninstall a plug-in unless you provide exact locations of where the plug-ins are stored.

I looked on the pference and the display images is checked. So I don't know why it is hapenning. It sometimes says undefined.
