It worked fine for a couple of hours, now it won't even load anymore. Can't delete the application from my hard drive because it says I don't have permission. Fixed the permissions but it still won't delete. Tried downloading it and re-installing and it still doesn't work.
View 5 RepliesI upgraded to Safari 5.7.1 and after that I cannot load pdf pages any longer. Prior to that version, pdf pages would load as usual in "Safari" format. Now, if I want to see the pages I need to control click the URL and ask for the pdf document to be copied in a folder. I can always go back to the previous version with Time Machine.

I have had one problem ever since I downloaded Safari 5. Sometimes when attempting to load pages, it just doesn't work. It's like that my internet gets turned off when I am trying to load a page. Any one know if this is a known problem, or if it is just a coincidence that my internet became "glitchy" when I downloaded Safari 5?
View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen opening a pdf in Safari I used to be able to press the right mouse button and could choose between printing and opening the pdf in Preview. This dialog seems to have disappeared (a new dialog with loads of unusefull crap like choosing tools is now shown instead). Most importantly, however, I can't print the pdfs anymore when using Safari's menu print (the pdf is o.k. it all works in firefox and opera). While the dialog opens correctly, only a blank document is printed. Also the export as pdf option does not work anymore.I'm running an Imac with mac os x lion, most recent updates installed. Since 2 days ICQ doesn't work together with iChat anymore. All I get is the prompt for entering the password. Password is correct and ICQ still works with Adium or ICQ2GO. iChat probably stopped working after I installed the latest security patch for MacOS Leopard.
Deleting the ICQ account in iChat and adding it again doesn't work. Neither does deleting the AIM.plist or changing the server to [URL] like it was suggested at the Apple discussion board.
I formatted a G4 powerbook for an intern at the company with Tiger installed, with all the latest updates. But somehow, our company website won't load in Safari or Firefox. There is internet connection, all other websites on that laptop I've tried works. We have 15 other PCs / OSX and our website works on all of them, except for the powerbook.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't know what happened, but somewhere along the line Safari simply stopped playing video for me. What's weird is that Youtube does work, yet none of the videos at, say, Gamespot.com work. I can't play Apple's brand-new iPad ad either, located here:

Of note is that I do have ClickToFlash as well as BashFlash installed, but that never was a problem before. The videos that do not work in Safari all work, without exception, in Chrome Beta, Firefox and Opera.
I recently purchased a Mac 10.7.3. I was never a Mac user, so I am kind of lost.I was connecting through VPN Network Connect at work, but it recently stopped working. I read a few support stuff saying that there is a bug with the new JAVA update, Juniper Networks and Apple updates. I am not sure if that's what happen. This is the message that I get when I try to load Network Connect : System extension cannot be used The system extension “/usr/local/juniper/nc/7.1.0/nctun_tiger.kext” was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product’s vendor for an update. After I hit cancel and try again, I no longer get the message, but it just loads endlessly. I tried deleting NC and reinstalling it, but it don't work. I tried running the tunnel through Google Chrome rather than Safari. I tried Java updates. Nothing works.IT at work is not Mac friendly and the company that manages all the VPN access is also not that savy and says it's my problem. Given that I am not too familiar with Mac yet, I can't get out of it on my own.

so i intentionally/accidentally deleted my qt plugins in safari trying to solve a player issue. anyway i have spent 24 hrs reading alllllll the posts and kind find a solution to my new problem. i have QTX and QT7 loaded on the mac snow leopard. this was working before i deleted the plugins. after reinstalling the QT 7, the plugins are in the internet plugin folder in both my main and user library, but Safari refuses to acknowledge their presences and simply says "plugin missing" when i go to webpage with embeded media or tries to download the .mov from another site. The plugins while in the library, are NOT listing in the Safari installed plugin list.

i have already had to quit it 3 times today because it just wouldn't load web pages. i'm typing this in Opera now...
i can open web pages fine when i freshly open Safari, but then if i leave it for about 10 minutes, then come back and want to use it again, it's useless, and so far i haven't been able to access anything if i leave Safari open for more than 10 minutes.
i've just got the Security Update 2003-12-05 which is supposed to fix some Safari stuff... but this problem hasn't really started until yesterday.
My Safari won't load google images. Google itself works, and I can search all day long without fail, all the links are fine. But if I'm using google images, nothing loads up. I have deleted my history, emptied my cache, and finally reset safari, still nothing. Google works, its just google images I can't access.
However, I took my macbook into my local Apple store and as you guess, it worked a treat (making me look silly!). So this led me to believe it must be something with my internet connection, something in my modem settings. My parents have a HP Windows vista laptop, and google images works fine for them. And they use the same wifi network.
So now I'm stumped!
I have had my 13inch Macbook since February, and up until a month ago, I could load anything in google images. However a month ago I had to have my hard drive replaced when I upgraded to Snow Leopard. I apparently had a corrupt drive, so under warranty I got a new one - so the computer I am with now only has a hard drive that is 5 weeks old - I have no parental controls, no anti virus software, nothing that I could think of that might affect it?
I've been using 1password and have had a massive annoyance ever since I upgraded to Snow Leopard. Safari doesn't load 1password (3 - I've been using it since the beta started) the first time I use it after switching on my mac. I have to actually open 1password then refresh whatever page I wanted to use autofill on and after that it works whether I quit and reopen safari or just leave it running. This is a pain because I shouldn't have to add 1password to my startup items (that would be even more annoying). Has anyone else had this problem. I've tried various combinations of removing/adding the extension, disabling extensions (in 1password) uninstalling/reinstalling 1password, resetting Safari et cetera but none of it has made any difference. I've been running the latest Safari and latest 1password every time.

but every.. 1 in 10 i would say, pages just get stuck whilst loading (just infront of the http:// area) and i would need to go back a page and re click the link..
its not a major problem it just gets on my nerves sometimes whilst surfing.
I've had problems for a while with Safari sporadically not loading images on some web pages. The problem was so irritating that I ditched it in favour of Camino.
Now Safari 4 is out, I'm trying to move back, but the problem is still there.
It typically happens when viewing a page containing lots of images. Here are two I have recurring problems with:

A bit of Googling shows I'm not alone, but there doesn't seem to be any proper explanation of the problem or a solution out there. Clearing the cache solves the problem temporarily, but it quickly returns and there's no rhyme or reason to what will or won't load. I've also tried resetting Safari and deleting the prefs file (which I guess do the same thing).
Surely I'm not the only die hard sports fan on here who can't live without constant updates from RealGm. But am I the only one that uses safari to view it? (or tries to?).
I searched but couldn't find any topics on this, but I can't for the life of me get safari to properly open forum topics from real gm. It will work 1 out of 7 times perfectly, the others not until I refresh and refresh (and even still it doesn't load all the page).

Firefox' site rendering is much more fluid than Safari's. Safari loads the BACKGROUND again and again with each click completely upsetting the eye. Firefox has the background steadily black as it is and loads the randomized image properly without any kind of irritation.Is there a way to make Safari load pages more efficiently like Firefox?Or is it just a rendering of all WebKit browsers that behaves like that?

I am a big time user of search (or spotlight) on my Macintosh and I have been using for years and through all the updates. I loved the recent updates to spotlight and I was able to search not only my HD but also the network drives where all of our files are located on an Mac Server.
I am the IT person of this small graphic design firm and everyone in our office work on files that are located on a Mac Server. We only keep the applications on our own client computers. Spotlight or (search) was function perfectly up to a few weeks ago but recently when I need to search something on our Signage A, Signage B, Signage C or Print A, Print B or Print C, drives where we keep our files. The search does not bring no result. This is a problem not only with my computer but there are a few computers in the office with the same problem.
What can I do to resolve this problem and be able to search again on my network drives where I keep all the files we are working on. If this function is no longer available with spotlight or search box of the finder window. Is there another software we can use to search for files and folders on our server. Since there are a few people working on the same files sometimes when the files are moved it makes it difficult for the next person to find them, in that kind of situation search was working wonderfully and I need for that to work again.
It used to work with Snow leopard.. but now it crashes on login any ideas??? i first thought it is afloat (plug suite) but i disabled it...(and unistalled) I Think the "the tube" Update messed skype up but... maybe you know it better

a few days ago i had a system problem so i did a clean install. Everything seemed to come back ok but now i can't get Quicktime to work anymore. All my movie files get -1856 error messages. I even tried to re-install Quicktime but every version i try wont work. I am running osx 10.4.

So after a night of check, test and prettty much everything, I'm pretty sure my GC is dead. What I want to know it could be a short circuit? I'm a good mac user and I already did that on others cards (X1900 with an accelero for example.) I talked with xlryourmac and he can't see. I really want to find out a plausible explanation, because I'll probably buy another GC et wouldn't want to do the same mistake twice. The trash icon in my dock indicates that there are files in it, but when I click on it the Trash window appears, but the files don't show. The indicator at the bottom right just keeps on animating - it never stops, not even after several hours. furthermore, the "Empty Trash" option in the Finder menu is grayed out. The "Empty Trash" option in the trash icon's right-click menu is not grayed out. However, when I click it, a dialog appears for confirmation; I click on "Empty Trash" and nothing happens. When I list the files in my trash using the terminal (with the "ls" command), the files do show (and there is a considerable number of files). When I try to remove them, using the "rm" command, nothing happens; when I list the files again, they are still there. What must I do to get this mess fixed?

View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a problem with my Snow Leopard installation. Since I've installed Snow Leopard, my external USB HD won't work anymore. It's a ICY BOX case with USB 2 and Firewire 400 interface. The mac is a mid 2009 mac mini (9400m).
P.S.: It doesn't show up in the disc utility
PP.S.: I tried two different hard drives in the enclosure, but all worked fine before Snow Leopard!
Suddenly the sleep mode does not work anymore. Did not change anything.
