Safari :: Printing Of Pdfs Does Not Work Anymore
Apr 17, 2012when opening a pdf in Safari I used to be able to press the right mouse button and could choose between printing and opening the pdf in Preview. This dialog seems to have disappeared (a new dialog with loads of unusefull crap like choosing tools is now shown instead). Most importantly, however, I can't print the pdfs anymore when using Safari's menu print (the pdf is o.k. it all works in firefox and opera). While the dialog opens correctly, only a blank document is printed. Also the export as pdf option does not work anymore.I'm running an Imac with mac os x lion, most recent updates installed. Safari 5.1.5

Apr 19, 2012Lately I have been unable to open PDFs from the internet. When I click it sends me to a blank internet tab. Sometimes I am able to control click and have the option to save the file in my downloads, then have to go back into finder to open the file. This is also the case when opening PDFs from emails. However there are some files on the internet that will not allow me that option. I have tried this in firefox, safari, and chrome.All are the same.Everything worked just fine until about 3 days ago.

May 15, 2012Starting about a month ago Safari doesn't open website pdfs. It goes to a new tab/window and returns a black screen. My system is up to date with the latest updates for Apple products as well as for Adobe products. Is anyone else having this issue or know a solution. If I use Firefox it opens the pdf so I have to assume it is something with Safari.

May 3, 2012When I view a PDF in Safari it looks good. When I go to print it either the preview is totally blank or one page that I was viewing at the time previews and the print dialog box shows the additional 8 pages but they are all blank. I'm baffled. If I use Chrome and go from its interface to preview it works perfectly.

Jul 5, 2012I have five Macs - from MacBook Pros to Mac Pros and I have never been able to view a PDF in Safari. I needed some legal documents and they were placed online as PDFs. I tried to view them but was presented with a blank black page in Safari and no option to download the PDF.
This happens on all five of my Macs. I went to my neighbor who has a new MacBook Pro and went to the same site and presto! There were the documents. I had to download, copy to Flash and bring them home.

Apr 17, 2012A couple of days ago I had no trouble printing a PDF which was open in a Safari window. Now when I have a PDF open in Safari and I try to print a page of it, the print window that appears shows a blank page, and if I click Print, the paper comes out blank. I tried opening the same PDF in Firefox and the window itself is blank. It works in Chrome.

May 21, 2012Have recently started having an issue where when I open a PDF attachment from Safari, it will not allow me to print it or "save as". When I attempt to print, the window comes up, shows a blank preview in landscape mode. When I attempt to "save as" it states The document “201205210502092.pdf” could not be exported as “201205210502092”. and nothing saves. It used to work great every time, now, it does not work at all.

May 22, 2012I am unable to view or download bank statements from our bank online using Safari. Also tried Firefox and it didn't work. Also unable to view, open, or download any other type of PDFs on my iMac since removing the hard drive, replacing it with a new one, and reinstalling OS X Lion 10.7.4. I didn't notice this problem until after installing the recent Updates for Safari 5.1.7 and OS X Lion 10.7.4, so I don't know if it could have anything to do with them or not. I am still in the process of reinstalling programs, but everything else seems to be working fine since the switch to the new hard drive except for not being able to view PDFs.

Safari :: Cannot View PDFs With Native Viewer
Feb 27, 2012Sometime in the last several months, Safari (now at v5.1.2) on my Mac (OS X 10.6.8) stopped being able to view PDFs natively. It will download PDFs if I make it do that, and then I can open them in Preview or Acrobat. But when I try to open any PDF from any website within the browser, I get a blank page (or the current page) with the PDF control bezel overlay, which looks like this:
But the PDF content never appears in the browser. This happens with any PDF file, such as the one at [URL]
The Adobe PDF plugin was removed from /Library/Internet Plug-Ins a long time ago. So that is not the cause of the problem.
Google's Chrome browser will display PDFs in the browser. Firefox will download them and open them in Preview. It is only Safari that is giving me trouble.

Nov 5, 2010For some reason Safari won't open PDFs. Not sure if I can download them but PDFs that are supposed to open with a script (for example, can't just open in a new tab) do not open. Nothing happens. It won't even auto download or anything.Just tried Chrome and it downloaded just fine off the same web page.
Can display PDFs just fine if going directly to PDF link, but it definitely doesn't open with script based ones

May 14, 2012all of a sudden i can't add any bookmarks anymore using the plus sign next to URL. searched many websites which offer adequate solutions to fix but i cannot follow as folders/files can't seem to be found. I even had trouble finding the safari folder as it don't exist under library- may be clueless but i seem to have 2 folders for library: one under macintosh hd, the other under the system folder. also can't find the bookmarks.plist file either using spotlight. some sites say locate the com.apple.safari file, which seems to be missing in either cache folders, example of what is there is com.apple.components2.localcache.audiocomponents etc.... its frustrating especially when you find a good website to add to an already organised bookmarks folder.
NOTE- i did find safari folder via spotlight but within it was 2 folders of bookmarks and history and both don't have the bookmarks.plist file and only endless "webbookmarks..."

Safari :: 5.7.1 Does Not Load Pdf Pages Anymore?
May 19, 2012I upgraded to Safari 5.7.1 and after that I cannot load pdf pages any longer. Prior to that version, pdf pages would load as usual in "Safari" format. Now, if I want to see the pages I need to control click the URL and ask for the pdf document to be copied in a folder. I can always go back to the previous version with Time Machine.

Mar 8, 2010I don't know what happened, but somewhere along the line Safari simply stopped playing video for me. What's weird is that Youtube does work, yet none of the videos at, say, Gamespot.com work. I can't play Apple's brand-new iPad ad either, located here:

Of note is that I do have ClickToFlash as well as BashFlash installed, but that never was a problem before. The videos that do not work in Safari all work, without exception, in Chrome Beta, Firefox and Opera.

Jun 9, 2010It worked fine for a couple of hours, now it won't even load anymore. Can't delete the application from my hard drive because it says I don't have permission. Fixed the permissions but it still won't delete. Tried downloading it and re-installing and it still doesn't work.

Mar 19, 2012I have been happily using Safari for a long time as a photographer because it was great at properly rendering images online with embedded color profiles.With the latest update, it appears to have stopped. Firefox 10 renders the image properly, but I would like to know if this is an issue with my systems o if other people are running into this with the latest update.
I have attached an example screenshot with FF 10 on the right and Safari 5.1.4 on the left. The rendition on the right is correct, with more red saturation in the glass and logo and less muting of colors overall.I have reset Safari and dumped the entire prefs folder but having the same issue.
